Obama: I'll cut $4 trillion

It was a great speech, he didn't sound desperate to me at all.

Even from someone like you the post is incredible. Can you tell us from that great speech where he find get the spending savings, other than a vague comment about defense. Can you explain how he will save $1 trillion in interest expense. Do you know how big a deficit this combined speeches ( original budget a month ago and this one) add up to. If you do not have the answers to at least most of this questions I find your post little more than trolling and baiting of people who want to debate a real issue.

I can't say what I think about some of your skills lest you run off to the moderators and cry to have them give me some penalty points. But I think I am allowed to say that the above is less than a sunstantive contribution to this thread.

ryan put it IN WRITING

How about this: I will believe that the Republicans are serious about the deficit when they enact a plan. Results, not rhetoric, right Conservative?

I have a lot of respect for the president for actually trying to keep a center standing with some compromise. These are the things we need in our government. Apart from pride, I think the upset liberals and devout conservatives should realize what this move means.

Right, we will see that happen in 2012 when the 23 Democrats running for re-election to the Senate lose, they retain the House, and tell Obama he is "fired."

few care what you will or won't believe

ryan cleared committee with unanimous party support, it will pass boehner's house

it's harry's move

you're gonna need a lot of patience, much more than most americans can manage in times like these

Are you joking or really serious about what you just wrote. All today's speech means is that as of now he stopped being leader of this country and his full time job is getting realistic. Anyone who knows anything about finance or the economy should be distraught that this is the best effort all those folks in the white house can come up with. While neither the Ryan place nor this piece of s*** that the president discussed today is the answer. At least Ryan did not poison the well by saying all sorts of ridiculous things to rally a base. In the presidents case it would be safe to say that a large percent of the people who vote for him pay ZERO federla tax. He says that the richest should pay more, I agree. He failed to say that the top 1% pay something like 40% of Federal taxes and the top 10% about 60%. So what is their fair share. He says we all must share the burden. If he said all the Bush tax cuts must go I could respect that. But being the partisan animal he is he refers only to the change in the top tax bracket when talking about Bush's tax cuts. He can get away with that becuase of the people who write what you did above. Do you even know the full extent of the Bush tax cuts were? I am willing to bet if you don't Google it you have no clue, perhaps I am wrong if so I apologize. If you don't know then you should be ashamed.

Politicians know they can lie to the American public becuase they do not respect them enough to think they actually understand any finance or economics.

People are rioting all over the middle east because the youth have unemployment over 20%, what is it in the land of Obama, check that one out.

I guess they just don't build Liberals like they used to. In the 60s we took to the streets to stop americans getting killed in Vietnam for nothing. Old men sending kids to die for who knows what. Today, as the post above suggests they are so enraptured by one person they accept whatever garbage it gives them. He calls it fine food and you gulp it down. Now he is stealing the next generation's ability to live better than their parents and they say great speech.

Really sad.

Wow you are REALLY optimistic about 2012.

Results matter, not rhetoric and the people are waking up to the rhetoric. Pretty hard to change minds though when 47% of the income earners don't pay any Federal Income taxes. Think they have any problem with raising the taxes on the top income earners? I keep posting this over and over but it keeps getting ignored. Tell me why the rich should pay more when 47% don't pay anything?

The top 1% of wage earners make 20% of all income and pay 38% of all taxes.
The top 5% of wage earners make 34.7% of all income and pay 58.7% of all taxes.
The top 10% of wage earners make 45.8% of all income and pay 69.9% of all taxes.

The bottom 50% make 12.8% of all income and pay 2.7% of all taxes.

Currently approximately 47% of all Americans pay nothing and actually get money back making their tax rate negative.

I said I liked the speech, why do you have a problem with that. Am i supposed to analyze everything he said? Hell no. IMO, President Obama made more sense that what Rep. Ryan said. More tax breaks for the wealthy?

Why don't you just admit that you are jealous of anyone who has or makes more than you? You have been conditioned to support class warfare and you do it well.

Owning what though? The ability to blame Bush? The drone of attack and tax the rich? Bigger Government? Higher deficits?

He owns a history book.

And he drew a line in the sand.

Let's see how the GOP is going to answer to their seniors...

You are very optiimistic to think there will be no Democrats in Congress. Do you want to live in a one party state?

Gee, this post looks amazingly like post #62 in this thread.

Please prove that I am jealous of anyone who makes more than me. Personally, I think I am more concerned about the nation's debt than you.

over 100 posts and no one has yet to offer anything to show why Obama's proposal is not a sound one

Ever notice how people afraid of class warfare are the only ones who have something to lose in it?
Actually, he's using Saul Alinsky's rule #5.

RULE 5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon." There is no defense. It's irrational. It's infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.

Without parsing the entire speech, I would venture that before this is over much of what he said will have turned out to have been a lie. But if you want one easy one right off the bat, lie may be a harsh term, but mislead certainly comes to mind when ever he tries to lay off the current state of the economy entirely on the Bush administration alone.

j-mac

...but its the truth.... Bush delivered a running deficit of $1.2T annually... Obama has just failed to fix his mess.

I said I liked the speech, why do you have a problem with that. Am i supposed to analyze everything he said? Hell no. IMO, President Obama made more sense that what Rep. Ryan said. More tax breaks for the wealthy?

tell us PB-how is raising taxes on the rich going to change the behavior of the 95% who supply the votes for the big spending politicians

that's rather silly. I'd love it if everytime some whiner complained about the rich, his boss would fire him. now that would be some class warfare I could really dig

Please prove that I am jealous of anyone who makes more than me. Personally, I think I am more concerned about the nation's debt than you.

so you want a tax system that makes everyone suffer when the government spends more? guess what, the current system only guarantees more debt because it encourages more spending to buy votes

squire, get back on topic. this isn't about supplying votes
taxing the millionaires and billionaires will provide additional revenues to diminish the accumulated national deficit

over 100 posts and no one has yet to offer anything to show why Obama's proposal is not a sound one

how is raising taxes on only the rich going to provide an incentive to the other 98% to reign in spending they don't have to pay for?

squire, get back on topic. this isn't about supplying votes

that is stupid because it will encourage your dem masters to continue to spend massive amounts buying the votes of people like you

the tax system you want provides NO INCENTIVE FOR THE MAJORITY OF VOTERS TO REJECT THE PANDERING and SPending

so, you think reducing the accumulated national defict is a bad thing. figures
