Newspaper Guild Calls on Unpaid Writers to Boycott Huffington Post - FoxNews.com

The national Newspaper Guild has upped the ante in a strike against the Huffington Post, calling on all unpaid writers to stop contributions to the website.

The 26,000-member union of media workers asked all unpaid contributors on Wednesday to withhold their work in support of a strike launched earlier this year by the art publication Visual Arts Source, whose writers had previously contributed free content to the Post.

"Join us in shining a light on the unprofessional and unethical practices of this company," the Guild wrote in a press release. "Just as we would ask writers to stand fast and not cross a physical picket line, we ask that they honor this electronic picket line."

Hypocrisy much, Mrs. Huffington?

Now, I'm not exactly sure what these folks think they have coming to them, but Huffington typically sides the other way, which makes this particularly revealing about the snit.

This might just be about greed.

The call comes in response to the Huffington Post's "refusal to compensate its thousands of writers in the wake of its $315 million merger with AOL," the Guild wrote, and its refusal to acknowledge requests to meet with Guild officials "to discuss ways the Huffington Post might demonstrate its commitment to quality journalism.”

I thought she was for redistributing wealth.

Oh, I get it. Not HER wealth, just yours and mine.

Of course not HER wealth... Jezus. Be reasonable! :2razz:

I thought unions were evil blood-suckers deserving of outlaw status and should be stripped of their collective bargaining rights. Oh, right, except when they conflict with a liberal publication. Hypocrite.

Way over your head.

Good day.

We don't like unions, but she should.

And you should be supporting her, 'cos either unions are evil or they're not, no? Looking a little hypocritical to attack unions only when they attack people you like.

Given that she isn't running the show these days, personalising it against your hate figure is also a little silly.

Don't confuse amusement with support.

You support a party entirely built on this concept. How many times have Pelosi, Boxer, and Frank won now?

You keep proving my point. You think I support the Democrats? Hahaha! I'm anti-capitalist, how could I support the Democrats? Have you not read any of my criticisms of Obama? The closest you get is that I would support a liberal over a conservative, but they are still very wrong-minded in my view. I'm guessing you think the world divides Democrat-Republican, which says quite a lot about your narrow weltanschauung.

They think anti-capitalist = socialist = communist = left-wing = US Democratic Party. A lot of conservatives see the world entirely in black and white.

I can't tell you how many times I've been accused of supporting Hamas because I don't think Israel is perfect and blameless.

Well then stay out of the ME forum ffs, the only things scarier than the Israeli lobby there are the mods.

So much stupidity, so little time.

Arianna Huffington does not own the Huffington Post.

There is no hypocrisy here.

Amateur bloggers rarely get paid anywhere.

HuffPo does have a paid staff.
