(Reuters) - Gun-control advocates on Thursday called a new Wyoming law that allows residents to carry concealed weapons without a permit a "troublesome trend" in Western states.
Wyoming's Republican Governor Matt Mead on Wednesday signed the permit-free gun bill into law. Beginning July 1, residents who want to pack handguns will no longer have to undergo a criminal background check or show proficiency with a firearm.

I am pleased to see progress on this issue. Bearing arms is a fundamental human right and today the State of Wyoming has taken a major step to recognizing that right and abolishing intrusive measures that would limit it.
