U.S. Military Repositions Forces in Preparation for Libya Response

Most sane people know your sick from your stupid avatar. You should try living in Russia if you like it so much. Americans died so people like YOU are now free to be as stupid as you are.

I lived in the Soviet Union for significant parts of my child and adult life. I've also lived in the States. I greatly prefer the former.

Russian and British people died so American people can claim credit for the freedom we now have.

The Soviets were underarmed, underfed and underresourced not due to communism -- by the end of the war, the Soviet Union had the largest military-industrial complex in history. They were underarmed, underfed and underresourced because the largest military in human history (Operation Barbarossa) had just taken them by surprise, and they were busy sending every man they could find to the front so the entirety of Europe didn't fall to Nazi control.

Stalin's purge didn't have anything to do with the lack of leadership in the Soviet Army?

As well, the Soviets were in the Pacific, where they routed the Japanese Kwantung Army, which, I might add, accounted for 65% of all Japanese military personnel.

.

The Guandong Army to which you refer was largely stipped of personnel and equipment by the time the Soviets invaded in the last month of the war in order to fight on other fronts (mostly against the Americans in the Pacific, but also in China). So, this statement of yours is pretty much meaningless...

That's right; the ones that we killed to maintain our freedom. I thank them for their sacrifice. I'm all about, "making that other poor dumb bastard die for his country".

After the Battle of Britain, I'm not sure how the Nazi's would gain a foothold in the UK. Economic isolation from the continent may have relegated the UK to also rans eventually, but there's no earthly possibility that the Germans posed a threat to the North American continent and their freedoms. Stop with the bull**** effort to minimise their WW2 contributions in Europe.

Maybe through, I don't know, Ireland? XD

A joke.

But, even so -- the world is round, and the British Empire covered a third of it. If Britain fell after the Soviet Union, Canada, too, would become a state in flux, not to mention Chuktoka's proximity to Alaska.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. Things happened differently. I'm just seeing to it that the Soviets get credit for their immense sacrifice in that war, instead of being demonised by their political enemies for an ideological dick length contest that happened afterwards.

Have you ever seen a map of The British Isles?

Afghanistan. We sent a buncha Soviet ****ers to meet Lenin back in the 80's.

There weren't any American troops there. Just CIA-funded mujahedeen. I don't understand what you're saying.

Are you just a blatant racist, and you take delight in the deaths of people of other nationalities than your own (if so, never look up the history of Vietnam)? Or is there a point you're trying to make?

If the Soviet Union had capitulated to the Wehrmacht, and relinquished the largest stockpile of manpower, resources and industry on Earth at the time to the Nazis, the Anglo-Americans wouldn't have been able to stand for long.

But to say the Soviets were fighting for the freedom of the UK and US is disingenuous at best and an outright lie at worst. They were fighting for national survival, and you know it...

Alright, that's fair. They most certainly were not fighting for the Brits or Americans. But they were fighting with the Brits and Americans, something people like apdst find hard to swallow.

The British Empire was not THE empire at that stage, I have no idea why free Canadians would choose alleigance to a Nazi Britain over themselves. Again, it's hard to see how an invasion from Ireland would be any more effectual than an invasion from from France, I guess they abandoned Operation Green for a reason.

The contributions of Russians can't be minimised, I bet they would have been a giant thorn in Hitlers ass even occupied without Stalin or a Soviet central government around.

We trained'em, we armed'em, so through our military prowess and superior weapons systems, we killed the **** out of some Soviets.

It's a point I'm trying to make, but it's also that I take delight in the deaths of any mother****ers that threaten my country and my people. My people are the American people, regardless of their race, color, religion, creed, or national origin.

Why is that so hard for me to accept? I don't think I ever said anything to the contrary. All I ever said, is that the Soviets--nor the Brits--decided the outcome of WW2, all by themselves. If not for American involvement, you would have lost your asses.

That's simply not true. It's wishful thinking, from a wishful nation. You're like teenagers. You think you're the best, invincible, and you think you've got fresh new ideas and a glorious past. You think you're the centre of the world. You're really not, and some day, you, as a nation, will grow up and realise that. When you do, we'll all be at the adult table waiting for you.

I have no problem with the fact that we were fighting the same enemy and all parties involved made vital contributions to the war effort.

However, your anti-Americanism DOES bother me and your statement about the Guandong Army and the Soviet role there was simply inaccurate...

I hate to agree with apdst, but he's on the money here. Other allies may have sacrificed more and done a lot of the heavy lifting, but without US involvement in WWII, and in both the European and Pacific Theaters, the Allies would have been toast.

We kicked the **** out of the Brits and the Russians. I'd say we're some purdy bad ass mother****ers.

Does that group include liberals?

When did you kick the **** out of the Brits? The French won your War of Independence for you, and you lost the War of 1812. The only time Americans fought Soviet troops was in the intervention in the Russian Civil War, and the Americans got their asses handed to them there.

Dear god, as a bit of a history boff i can tell you that both marteau and apdst have some funny ideas about what happened in WW2...

Ive decided though that all this revisionist history is far too entertaining to start debunking!

Onward!

The French? LOL! Hell they lost to themselves!

Actually a big reason they lost was because they made an ill fated decision not defend a section of their border because they felt the germans would be unable to move tanks through... :prof

Huh??? French troops were on the ground? The French Navy DID help cut off the British retreat, but the U.S. troops won the war on the ground...

And the War of 1812 was essentially a draw with both sides agreeing to return to the status quo ante at the end of the war and the U.S. essentially being successful in ending British harassment of settlers in the northwest territories...

Not as simple as that. Britain would have been a experienced economic conflict moreso than military after the BoB and Russians (not necessarily Soviets) are pretty much indominable in their homeland. I've never seen how even a military defeat on both fronts could have led to a Nazi empire sustaining itself for any reasonable amount of time. The real minimisation of cost to Europe by American intervention was the devastation of minority communities and any vestige of power they had in their colonies.

I'm afraid no one would be speaking german other than where they are if the States weren't involved, but the cost to anything vaguely un-aryan would be too great to bear if they weren't.
