Wisconsin Republicans Try to Lure Back Dems By Scheduling Controversial Vote

This is entirely political. Voter fraud is committed by those that count the votes and run the polls not by the voters. How many people would go to the trouble of registering under two different names and addresses just to vote twice. Heck, a large number of Americans don't even vote once. There is no great conspiracy to stuff the ballot boxes by people that vote more than once.
This bill is just to keep more people, the elderly and poor, from voting. Just who are these people allegedly voting more than once and is there enough of them to make a difference?

Honest question for you. If my memory serves me the elderly as a group tend to vote more heavily republican than democrat, so why in the world would you suggest the reason be that Republicans would be specifically trying to keep the elderly from voting?

Really, if there's one group that this is specifically aimed at its illegal immigrants.

However its primary purpose isn't even teh bill itself, but attempting to use a controversial issue to get Democrats back into the building.

This is truly a "fencepost" argument. This is so incredibly and basically practical and sensible, it boggles the mind how someone could argue it.

Anyone can get a picture ID card, whether they drive or not.

I would, but it's not so easy for some elderly people and

Why would it not be easy for elderly people to get IDs? 10- 28 dollars is easy for people to get. Heck some states don't even make seniors pay for IDs.

Applying for a New California DMV Identification Card - DMV Guide

why should their constitutional rights be denied just because they don't have a picture ID?

The right to vote does not say shall not infringe on it. While various amendments covering the right to vote, these amendments only list what infringements you can not impose and list who can vote. Section 2 of the 14th amendment ,section 1 of the 15th amendment ,19th amendment , and section 1 of the 23rd,24th and 26th amendments basically states who can vote, what you can vote in and what you can not use deny those people the right to vote. A ID requirement is not a violation of any of these amendments.

You been to a nursing home lately? This law will keep old folks from voting.
How many people voted more than once in the last election? Were there any? This is just political.

Do you people honestly believe illegal aliens would risk being caught and deported just to cast a vote? Give me a break. You do know you have to register in order to vote. You need to give your name, address and how long you've lived in your city. Illegals stay away from polls.
How many illegals voted in the last election?

Elderly people vote for candidates that support medicare and Social Security.

Voter fraud is committed by the vote counters and poll workers, not the voters. That's a myth.

Got a 96-year-old grandfather in a nursing home who voted in the last election. What's your point? If you can't get out to get a simple ID card, can you get to the voting booth anyway?

Your chasing an issue that isn't an issue.

You contradicted yourself with the bolded sentences. ACORN did this kind of thing, registering everyone who walked down the street (including dead people), and phenagling the results. I could see La Raza doing the same.

A myth, eh ??? Tell that to the people in Memphis.

MEMPHIS, TN - Two people face felony charges for voter fraud in Shelby County, and the District Attorney says there could be more arrests. They're accused of voting twice in an election four years ago.

Election administrators say they're doing everything they can to make sure everyone turning out to vote this year gets just one vote.

The District Attorney says 52-year-old James Golden got more than one vote. He and 69-year-old Anne Enochs each face one count of illegal registration or voting.

NEW YORK Results of a state senate election in western Tennessee have been thrown into doubt, and an investigation into voter fraud launched, after the Commercial Appeal of Memphis uncovered proof that votes had been cast for dead people.

The Sept. 15 special election to fill a vacant seat in the 29th state Senate District, which includes part of Memphis, had already drawn intense interest when the margin of victory was just 13 votes out of 8,750 cast. Democrat Ophelia Ford had edged Republican Terry Roland in the race to fill the seat previously held by Ford's brother, John, who was forced to resign in May after being indicted on bribery charges.

After the election, Roland's campaign began to review voter rolls looking for questionable votes in the tight race. The campaign also filed a plea with the state Senate to bar Ford from being seated when the Senate convenes next year.

John Harvey, a Roland campaign advisor, said he came up with about 60 names he believed might have not been authorized to vote for several reasons and gave the names to Commercial Appeal reporter Marc Perrusquia last week.

The reporter, a 16-year veteran of the paper, began reviewing the names and addresses of those who had voted in one of the district's 60 precincts, and discovered one person's address was a vacant lot. He then cross-matched names with the paper's recent obituaries and found the person, Joe Light, had died about six weeks before the election.

Wow. A couple people committed voter fraud and got caught.

I have a question for you, Einstein.
How does one get a photo ID if they don't have a photo ID proving who they are in the first place?

No one should be forced to pay a fee to vote. And having to purchase a photo ID is paying a fee. It's not fair to everyone.

Who cares if it will work or not... really. This is the fight we wanted, and the Dems and their unions are doing just perfectly... beyond perfectly... they are clearly illustrating who they really are and what they are really about.

It is far beyond great. It is beyond awesome.

.

What is ironic here is that I agree 100% with your post.

Of course, the conclusions I draw are 100% opposite of yours regarding the impact and effect it will have upon both sides.

My first drivers license photo was in cuneiform, if that helps any.

Whippersnapper.

Try toting around one carved into a mastadon bone. That is hernia time.

Don't know how many illegals voted. Its impossible to tell due to the ability to vote privately. As for registering...yeah...like people never lie huh? I mean lets face it...illlegals never use fake ID's or fake SS cards or stolen SS cards do they? As for them staying away...they held protests in major cities yet were never arrested. I'm pretty sure that they can and would do something that is anonymous....like voting.

You people really don't see how ridiculous this law is and it's only going to keep some people from voting.

People can get a drivers license without a photo ID, so why can't they vote without one?

How'd you get one the first time? LOL

Birth certificate, social security card, credit cards......you can get one if you go through the proper channels. And I'd bet less than 1% of the elderly doesn't have some sort of photo ID.

So you want just anyone to be able to walk up and vote? Typical.

No, but you just have proven one does not have to have a photo ID to prove who you are. Now do you understand?
So its OK to deny that 1% because they don't have a photo ID?

What's 1% of 20 million?

Ahhh, so you went to "never happens" to sometimes happens.....

You know that I could dig up a bunch more of these cases. They are fairly common.

By the way, subtle insults like the one you threw are frowned upon here.

How did you get your first photo id ??? No one is "forced" to pay for a photo id. All of the states that have passed laws requiring photo ids provide them free of charge to people that can't afford to buy one.

Any more specious objections ????

So how can you prove your identity to get a photo ID if you don't have a photo ID? Your arguments are ridiculous. The same ID to get a photo ID should be sufficent to prove who you are to vote.

You want a 95 year old guy in a wheel chair and on oxygen to make his way up to the DMV to get a photo ID? Why not just use the identification he has to get the ID to vote?

Photo ID requirements are just going to keep people that don't have them from voting. Other forms of ID are used to get photo IDs. Those forms are sufficient to vote.

So if you don't have the initiative to get a photo ID, then you don't get to vote. Period. Why is this so hard to understand?

If you have the initiative to go to the voting booth, you should have it to get an ID.

Why can't they use the same ID that they used to get the photo ID to vote? Why is that so hard to understand? People were not born with photo IDs. Other forms of ID were used to get the photo IDs. Why are they sufficient to get a photo ID, but not to vote? Don't you guys get it?
Having restrictions to vote is unconstitutional. Forcing everyone to get a photo ID big government politics.

How did the 95 year old guy in a wheelchair and on oxygen get to the county clerk's office to get registered to vote ???

How did the 95 year old guy in a wheelchair and on oxygen get to the poll to vote ??

Would it make you feel better if the 95 year old guy was required to bring his birth certificate, social security card, a credit card, and a utility bill proving where he lives every time he votes ????

Why is non photo identification good enough to get a photo ID but not good enough to vote? Don't you people get it? Identities are established for photo IDs from nonphoto forms of identification. If they are good enough to get a photo ID then they are good enough to vote.
Where do you people think photo IDs come from?

It cost 28 bucks for a photo ID in Wisconsin.
Yes I would feel better. He won't have to pay to vote.

I'll ask you again since you ignored it the first time, would you prefer the 95 year old man bring all the id necessary to get a photo id every time he votes ???

Or would it be simpler to get a free photo id one time and be done with it ??

Why can't they use the same ID that they used to get the photo ID to vote?

Simple. It's a hell of a lot easier to train someone to recognize a fake state ID photo than it is to train them to recognize fake birth certificates from 50 states. Remember...each state has different formats for thier BC.

Oh, so to make it easier for some government worker at the expense of the voter? Most elderly people don't fake their birth certificates so they can vote twice:roll:. This law is stupid and will keep people from voting. Is that the intent?
This is just more big government BS.
