Proposed Law Would Criminalize ‘Misuse’ of Full-body Scanner Images

A similar photo could be used of any women with crude sexual comments attached. Should women have to face this sort of response whenever they run for political office? I don't think so. It is the work of a pimply youth who can't leep his hands out of his pants, and appreciated by the same crowd. Show that photo of Barak Obama to any Black man and let us know the consequences, okay?

Of course a similar photo could be used, but it wasn't. It was a photo depicting one person. I know it feels like you are being upstanding and chivalrous defending women against a picture depicting a single woman, but perhaps you should let the women speak for themselves. So far, the only person whom has been outraged here is you.

Certainly it's the Left! But you don't know that photo is offensive to women and the second offensive to Blacks so I don't expect you to know it is the Left who perpetuates this sort of ignorance. I have no use for Barak Obama as a President but I would never ever post a photo of what was here earlier on this thread. That takes a special kind of ignorance.

No, it's offensive to you. You perceive it as being offensive to women and are feigning outrage as a result, thinking that it will score you some points with the ladies. In fact, it's really quite silly that we are still discussing such a simple and quick joke. You are still hung up on it. Feel free to feign your outrage to your heart's content. I'm not interested in pretending I'm something that I'm not.

Wrong again. I am only better than those who defend these photos.

Feel free to delude yourself.

Humor - juvenile, raunchy, or sophisticated - has been part of political discussion in this nation forever. I don't think it demeans nearly as much as people who sincerely claim that so-and-so is a fascist (when one clearly isn't) - or that this guy's a commie bent on destroying American (when clearly this guy isn't).

I never charge people of either being a fascist or a commie and agree with you that it lowers the level of discourse. That's what I'm getting at here. I assume you are not saying that because coarseness has been a part of the discussion for so long that we should ignore it when it happens. I think we should speak out against it, as I am doing in this case. If there are those who feel differently then let them defend their position.

One naughty photo isn't the same as someone spreading illegitimate conspiracy theories about Islamo-Commie conspiracies to create world Caliphates and trying to sell such cornball lunacy as seriousness.

I know of no one who is making that claim.
My point: no one thinks that photo of Palin is really about penises. It's merely a smack on her.

Okay, and I am smacking back. Is there a problem with that?
People actually listen to Beck's maniacal rantings about Islamo-Commies and BELIEVE it.

Wow, this is a segue that makes no sense whatsoever!!!

That's much more demeaning to political discussion than some invisible penises.

Well there are many things in this world that are more demeaning than Glen Beck also but that is not what this conversation all about.

LOL!!!

This is incredible!

Why do Leftists insist on advertising their ignorance?

Don't you lot read books, or look at anything literate that doesn't have pictures?

So your saying leftists are illiterate, and can only understand things through pictures. If that is true how are we reading your replies? :lamo

He's also saying that the photo is demeaning to women. Tell me, YourStar, do you feel insulted or demeaned as a woman because someone made a juvenile, yet funny, picture about Sarah Palin?

No, but I do feel demeaned when people feel that they shouldn't make jokes like that because they feel we are too "sensitive" to take a ****ing joke. That is sexism right there, not the picture Jet posted.

Actually I am not alone in defending women. There are millions of men and women all over the world defending women. I just happen to be the only one on this thread at this time.

And I can see that it is just one woman being debased in that photo but the point is that any woman could be compromised in the same way. It takes no real skill or imagination and has been going on for years. Its just that the Internet has given the pervs greater opportunity to spread it around.

I'm saying that most women would find it offensive unless they were on the far left, and then they would be ok with it. If it was Michelle Obama then the reaction might be different. I think her husband, family, and many of their supporters would find it offensive.

I am not hung up on anything but am responding to comments others, including yourself, have made. Does it bother you that I'm responding to posts addressed to me?

And it is ludicrous that I am trying to "score points with the ladies" on an anonymous message board! We don't even know for sure who the ladies are! LOL!

No, but I do feel demeaned when people feel that they shouldn't make jokes like that because they feel we are too "sensitive" to take a ****ing joke. That is sexism right there, not the picture Jet posted.

You feel "demeaned", Your Star?

So sorry to hear that.

He's also saying that the photo is demeaning to women. Tell me, YourStar, do you feel insulted or demeaned as a woman because someone made a juvenile, yet funny, picture about Sarah Palin?

So its juvenile and funny.

The whoopee cushion of political debate.

There should be a separate section for the whoopee cushion crowd.

Actually I am not alone in defending women. There are millions of men and women all over the world defending women. I just happen to be the only one on this thread at this time.

I never said you were alone in defending women. You are alone in your outrage over this photo and in thinking that it is demeaning to women, which, is demeaning in and of itself. Are women incapable of expressing their outrage over the photo if they are indeed outraged? Do they honestly need someone like you, a guy, to point out what is or isn't demeaning to women?

And I can see that it is just one woman being debased in that photo but the point is that any woman could be compromised in the same way. It takes no real skill or imagination and has been going on for years. Its just that the Internet has given the pervs greater opportunity to spread it around.

And you think that the photo has nothing to do with Sarah Palin as a person or politician and is meant solely to demean her as a woman? That's a stretch and you know it. If a male Republican politican were making a similar pose then people probably would have made a similar caption. More nonsensical feigned outrage.

I'm saying that most women would find it offensive unless they were on the far left, and then they would be ok with it. If it was Michelle Obama then the reaction might be different. I think her husband, family, and many of their supporters would find it offensive.

And who are you to speak for "most women"? Where are these offended women? So far, I only see one completely deluded guy who is offended.

I am not hung up on anything but am responding to comments others, including yourself, have made. Does it bother you that I'm responding to posts addressed to me?

It doesn't bother me at all. Why would it? I find it interesting that you are continuing to perpetuate your feigned outrage, though.

And it is ludicrous that I am trying to "score points with the ladies" on an anonymous message board! We don't even know for sure who the ladies are! LOL!

Granted, that was an assumption on my part. It is mainly because I am boggled as to why you would continue to feign outrage over such a silly and simple joke and make it out to be some absolutely horrible joke that demeaned all women. You are being ridiculous.

So your saying leftists are illiterate, and can only understand things through pictures. If that is true how are we reading your replies? :lamo

Wow! Great response Your Star.

You certainly got me there!

It seems I underestimated you.

So its juvenile and funny.

The whoopee cushion of political debate.

There also should be a section for people who have no sense of humor, but feel like commenting and making a mountain out of a molehill.

Wow! Great response Your Star.

Sarcasm? To a woman? Yikes, man... you are skirting dangerously close to being demeaning to all women.

I may be 'alone in my outrage' but perhaps that's because this thread isn't getting any wide spread attention. However I'm willing to debate the issue on my own and don't need the numbers to reinforce my position. It's remarkable to me that you feel a man can't recognize whether or not a woman is being demeaned. If you really have to ask that question, what are you doing on this thread?

As it is Sarah Palin in the photo I must assume it has something to do with Sarah Palin and was probably politically motivated. But I didn't create the photo or the caption. Did you? And you free to post a photo demeaning men. Let's check it out.

Nah! No need. Men who feel degrading photos of women are funny are already degrading men.
And who are you to speak for "most women"? Where are these offended women? So far, I only see one completely deluded guy who is off
ended.

You really must begin using quotes if you can't get things straight. Nowhere did i say I was speaking for most women. And I am laughing at the Leftists. If i cared deeply enough i might be outraged at their ignorance and the tax dollars wasted on their education, but that's not the case at all.

Granted, that was an assumption on my part. It is mainly because I am boggled as to why you would continue to feign outrage over such a silly and simple joke and make it out to be some absolutely horrible joke that demeaned all women. You are being ridiculous.

Remain boggled and leave it to others to get the picture then.

Yeah, by you, thinking women are above having jokes being told about us.

I hope you can recover soon from feeling demeaned, Your Star. Perhaps you should avoid this thread because I may have more comments on the subject and I wouldn't want to offend your sensibilities any further.

I gotta run guys.

Thanks for the debate! It's been a slice!

I hope you can recover soon from feeling demeaned, Your Star. Perhaps you should avoid this thread because I may have more comments on the subject and I wouldn't want to offend your sensibilities any further.

This comment is so sexist I can't even describe. You know what, demeaned isn't the right word, pissed off is the better term. Real sexism is treating women like their so ****ing sensitive that they can't take joke, stand up for themselves, etc. And you are demonstrating all of those sexist beliefs.

Well, it would seem to me that the lack of actual women being outraged would make you realize that perhaps your assessment is based solely on your perception. No, to clarify... I think it's ridiculous that you are a guy and are suddenly such an expert on what is or isn't demeaning to women, and arrogantly so.

As it is Sarah Palin in the photo I must assume it has something to do with Sarah Palin and was probably politically motivated. But I didn't create the photo or the caption. Did you? And you free to post a photo demeaning men. Let's check it out.

Yeah exactly. It was politically motivated, which means that it has nothing to do with demeaning women. Your perceptions on the issue are twisted. And I'm not going to post a picture because I'm honestly not all that interested in how you would perceive a similar photo depicting a male.

Nah! No need. Men who feel degrading photos of women are funny are already degrading men.
ended.

Keep deluding yourself.

No, your arrogance on the topic implies it. You have absolutely no backing from women on this topic (and even one posted who said that she wasn't offended by it) and you are still insisting on perpetuating your twisted perceptions that the photo is demeaning to women in general.

Remain boggled and leave it to others to get the picture then.

I've yet to see anyone back your assertions.

I am so sorry you are pissed off, Your Star. Why not get a good nights sleep and you'll feel much better in the morning.

I think it's ridiculous that you are a guy and are suddenly such an expert on what is or isn't demeaning to women, and arrogantly so.

As we have no idea how many women have seen this photo or have seen this thread you really have no idea what the majority of women feel one way or the other. While you accuse me of trying to speak for all women you're doing the same thing in your denial, but haven't the wit to realize it..

Yeah exactly. It was politically motivated, which means that it has nothing to do with demeaning women. Your perceptions on the issue are twisted. And I'm not going to post a picture because I'm honestly not all that interested in how you would perceive a similar photo depicting a male.

You can post all the pictures you want and I'll feel free to comment if I choose to do so. And it is a political comment only in the most juvenile sense. It is using women as a sex object. and you apparently can't see that either. I suppose you're also okay with the photo of BHO and don't see anything racist in that. Right?

No, your arrogance on the topic implies it.

You probably have nothing to be arrogant about. Don't blame me for that.

You have absolutely no backing from women on this topic (and even one posted who said that she wasn't offended by it) and you are still insisting on perpetuating your twisted perceptions that the photo is demeaning to women in general.

Actually we have no idea who is who on this board or how many women have seen the photo. Do you know? Perhaps you should take a survey and get some legitimate numbers, with a large enough response to make it statistically meaningful. But as it is you really don't have a clue.

I've yet to see anyone back your assertions.

And what does that mean to you? That there is security in numbers? You want to feel validated? You need someone to approve of your opinion?

Nor do you. Yet, you insist on claiming that the photo is demeaning to all women. I notice you haven't said a thing about the fact that YourStar wasn't offended by it.

You can post all the pictures you want and I'll feel free to comment if I choose to do so. And it is a political comment only in the most juvenile sense. I never said you couldn't comment. I agree it is juvenile, but it is also funny. You are still the only one who was offended by it. It isn't using women as a sex object. It is mocking a pose that one woman, Sarah Palin, had in a photo. I found the photo of Obama funny as well, because it is totally taking a piss out of the idiotic stereotypes about black people.

Actually we have no idea who is who on this board or how many women have seen the photo. Do you know? Perhaps you should take a survey and get some legitimate numbers, with a large enough response to make it statistically meaningful. But as it is you really don't have a clue.

I'm not the one making the assertion that it is demeaning to all women and that women should be offended by it. You still obviously don't get it. Let me repeat: YOU ARE STILL THE ONLY PERSON WHO GOT OFFENDED BY IT. Is that clear enough for you?

And what does that mean to you? That there is security in numbers? You want to feel validated? You need someone to approve of your opinion?

Again, I'm not the one making the assertion that it is demeaning to all women.

I am so sorry you are pissed off, Your Star. Why not get a good nights sleep and you'll feel much better in the morning.

I truly hope that you are aware of the irony in your condescending post. It is far more demeaning than a stupid photo of Sarah Palin.

Actually, Grant... Maybe you should start a completely separate thread about how photos like the one in this thread are demeaning to women and give, in detail, your perceptions of what women should or shouldn't be offended by. We have veered way off topic as your perceptions of what women are offended by have absolutely zero to do with the topic.

And why didn't you say it was off topic when the photo of Sarah Palin was first introduced?

Was it on topic then?

Of course not. It was just a little bit of humour by and for the intellectually challenged.
