U.S. official: Bin Laden no longer greatest threat

Well we're ****ed. Gonna end up with some form of Theocratic, imperial, big brother type of expansive, large and expensive government. Thanks, but no thanks.

They've already started the process. In Texas they rewrote all the school textbooks to fit a more conservative narrative. Yes, they claim it's to reduce some sort of liberal bias, but if that were the case how come the stated goal wasn't "removing bias?" They straight-up admitted they wanted to make them more conservative.

I guess indoctrination of children is ok as long as it's the right kind of indoctrination.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. I like that they're going to save us. What the hell are they saving us from? All the **** they've dropped on our laps? I don't think the left is any better, mind you. But neither side is going to save us; the Republocrats are the problem, not the solution.

Well who do you think starts the wars? It wasn't the left. How much did we spend on that thing? How much are we still spending on that mistake? And all the rhetoric is for more. More more more more more. All that stuff costs money and lives. It's the religious...what now? Right? Oh yes. And what do they like? Religious laws. So and so can't get married because in the bible it says X. Blah blah blah. Give some of theose people their way and it'll be illegal to be an atheist in this country and no one could ever mention evolution (I'll never understand the anti-science folk). Don't sit there and pretend that you don't expand government, you just want it expanded in ways you like. The deficit is where it's at in part because of the right.

Face it, the "right-wing" lost all integrity when it pulled a 180 on its principles. It's a big government, big spending, big deficit, big brother party.

In short, the government is not the solution, the government is the problem.

Historically speaking, most of the wars this country has fought have been entered into by Democrats/Leftists.

However I see your point and the only counter point is: it's the Leftists that sit around and do nothing, until things are a total cluster ****.

Which subject would you say I take an absolutist stance on?

I was talking about this part of your post,

My way is the right way, therefore everyone else's ways are the wrong ways. People who want to do things the wrong way are bad people, therefore everyone else is bad.

I was talking about this part of your post,

It seems that you are taking his post out of context. He meant that in terms of how the right-wing thinks.

However, if you are not, please disregard this.

Which isnt much of a point it's more along the lines of "Oh yeah... well they're no better"

Which is why it's rich that he would say that.

I'm not saying one side is better than the other. I'm saying that neither will offer hope of improving our lot much. They're both big government, big spending parties.

The republicans seem to be taking a turn away from being a big government party.

We're number 1!

Hahaha, but the greatest threat to our liberty and freedom is not this dude. It's the government itself. This guy is just a piss ant terrorist, they can't accomplish ****. The government, that's what you gotta look out for. It has well more direct ability to affect our rights and liberties then some asshole in a cave.

Neither you nor I has much use for the federal govt. Be that as it may, why did Anwar al Awlaki turn on the land of his birth?

Thing is, there's this disturbingly large portion of the population that actually thinks that way. Classic absolutism. My way is the right way, therefore everyone else's ways are the wrong ways. People who want to do things the wrong way are bad people, therefore everyone else is bad.

Remember that one dude who said homosexuals and Islamic extremists are allies? Classic. I think these two groups are bad, therefore they must both be allied against me! I guess some humans never evolved past binary thinking.

The Soviet Union and the Anglo/American alliance were enemies who cooperated fruitfully to defeat a common enemy. Once the common enemy was defeated the Soviets and Anglo/Americans turned on each other.

I believe that bin Laden is still important, as he masterminded 911. This is why I am still for the Afghan War. If we do not deal with bin Laden, then those who died on 911 will have died for nothing. We owe it to the memory of those who were murdered that day.

Not only that, we owe it to the brave soldiers who've already died fighting in Afghanistan, to finish the job.

Bin Laden has not been the "greatest threat" to the US since early 2002 when Bush wanted to go into Iraq.

As for the greatest threat.. I would call it equal between Islamists and radical right wing shoot first never ask questions later Americans.

Whereas the Left wing Euros don't bother asking any questions and are considered too mentally unstable to allow them to carry any weapons with which to defend themselves.

Of course at one time in Europe this was every free man's right. Now there's a lot of rapid searching about for sticks and stones.

It doesn't matter who is the "greatest threat" what matters is that these threats are eliminated. We in the US are a free country, free yes even for savages like this douchebag.

I used to think that way. But a wise business person knows not to throw good money after bad. A wise stateman/woman knows not to throw good lives into a mission that American society is unwilling to devote the resources and time needed to accomplish.

So lets go back to the point at hand. You're arguing some how, that the only people in America who are good and that can "save America", are "Rightists".

This assertion is incorrect, based on your own personal bias.

That is all.

Well it certainly wasn't the Leftists who made the United States the greatest and most powerful country in the world. They should stay with what got them there and not fall for the same craziness that has plagued Europe. Instead thy should use Europe as an example of how a people can become weak and dependent in just a couple of generations.

oh hey your back. ok.......

In 2001 Al Qaeda was a vertically integrated jihadi organization. In response to the Bush onslaught in Afghanistan in 2001-2, Al Qaeda changed its business model and became a diffused franchise operation.

Obama says that there are less than 100 Al Qaeda members in Afghanistan. But those few terrorists have now tied down the heart of the US Army. In the meantime the franchise operation called Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula led by the American Anwar al Awlaki has become the greatest threat.

Bin Laden accomplished his mission. He is history. Anwar al Awlaki, the Amriki, is now the threat that is most worrismome.

He is able to reach into the heart of America and bring Americans to his point of view. This fact alone makes the conflict in Afghanistan futile.

how is he able to "reach into the heart of america and bring americans his point of view"? seriously that's pretty silly.

Intellectual decadence is like a communicable disease.

In WWI it was a Democrat in power, in WWII a Democrat in power, in the Korean War a Democrat in Power, in Vietnam a Democrat in Power, in the First Gulf War a Republican, a Democrat then bombed Iraq, and then a Republican invaded Iraq, with the approval of the Democrats.

So where do you get the idea that it isn't the Left who starts wars?

The main problem with the Left is that have no idea of their own history. All they do is try to reinvent themselves with the same tired crap we've come to expect from them. and crap which they appear to believe themselves.

The internet permitted Anwar al Awlaki to take a devout American Muslim known as US Army Major Nidal Hasan and to turn him into a terrorist who killed 13 and wounded 32 in Texas in the recent past.

The internet permitted Anwar al Awlaki to persuade a Westenized Muslim Nigerian to travel to Yemen where Al Awlaki now lives to train for the Christmas time bombing over Detroit where the bomb failed to fully detonate.

The internet permitted Anwar al Awlaki to reach out to a guy named Shahaad who then attempted to set off a car bomb in Times Square in NYC.

If silliness were money America would have lots of friends.
