Anwar al Awlaki was born and raised in New Mexico. He's as American as apple pie. Al Awlaki was in repeated contact with US Army Major Nidal Hasan who killed 12 US soldiers and one civilian, and wounded over 30 others, on a US military base in Texas.
Al Awlaki was also the mentor of Farouk Abdulmuttalab the would be Christmas bomber who blew up his own underwear over Detroit. Al Awlaki was also in contact with a guy named Shazad the would be Times Square bomber. Shazad said his attempted bombing was in retribution for Obama's drone war over Pakistan.
Anwar al Awlaki lives in Yemen now. While he was still on US territory the US Govt. unwittingly invited him to a conference in Washington, DC after the 9/11 attacks.
So an American citizen has now displaced Osama bin Laden as Public Enemy No. One. I wonder why an American is trying to kill other Americans? The whole world wonders.
