Terrorist Threat At Local Mosque [in Detroit]

DEARBORN, Mich. (WJBK) - On Monday, Dearborn Police arrested a California man on suspicion of attempting a terrorist act at the Islamic Center of America. 63 year old Roger Stockham was found in the Mosque's parking lot with explosive materials.

Just a reminder that it isn't just Muslims who attempt terrorist acts. The only ingredient needed for either foreign or home grown terrorism is hate. Roger Stockham is a product of Islamophobia, nothing more, so what political party he belongs to (which hasn't even been determined yet) isn't important. Hatred breeds violence. It's that simple.

You are absolutely right. People get so caught up in partisian hackfests that their brain's logic button gets turned off. Hatred of America, hatred of "the west", hatred of Muslims, hatred of Jews, hatred of Arabs... the root of it all is hatred.

I'm just thankful that bomb wasn't detonated.

Just a reminder that Muslims in many countries are the victims of terrorist acts committed by other Muslims. Seeing how the article did not mention the suspect religion I think you are just making an assumption.

What bomb? It was fireworks. Plus he was charged with a false report or threat of terrorism, which leads me to believe it was never intended to be more than a bomb scare.

Stockham was arraigned Wednesday on one count of a false report or threat of terrorism (a 20 year felony), and one count of explosives possession with unlawful intent (a 15 year felony) for possession of Class-C fireworks.

Agreed, remember when that Muslim cabbie got cut? The media fell all over itself reporting that it must be some "Islamaphobe", then it turned out the assailant was actually active in promoting Islam in the US (although I don't think he, himself, was Muslim). The press couldn't drop the story fast enough.

I don't understand why people can get the golden rule through their empty heads, and that goes for those who claim to be Christians and those who be long to the Islamic Cult.

Almost every real and so-called Religion in the world has the same basic Golden Rule, Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. They might be worded differently the meanings are all the same and almost no one live up to it.

Too bad because I believe if an accurate count was avislible we would see that Religions and Cults claiming to be Religions have caused more deaths than just about any other cause of war, this does not include the millions killed by Mao, Stalin, Hitler Pol Pot, and a couple other despots.
 
How is it 15 years for fireworks and 20 years for making a threat; both being felonies? That does not seem like reasonable punishment.
 
From the story it simply seems this was another disturbed individual who should have been picked-up and evaluated years ago. The mental health system in this country is in shambles and something really must be done.

LOL.

The fireworks simply acted as the fuse. The Time Square bomber may have gotten a little more time due to the 250 pounds of amonium nitrate and diesel fuel, three 25 pound propane tanks and 10 gallons of gasoline on the other end of those fireworks.

It just seems that some of you are actually desperate to link every act of terrorism with Islam... Why?

There are a lot of people on this forum beating up the Muslims, but how often do you see Muslim members of this forum attacking non Muslims or promoting hateful sterotypes of you guys?
 
Are you trying to change peoples minds about Muslim terrorism or reduce our fear about it or have us think it all equals out? This really doesn't do any of those things for me. I am glad he got caught though. An event like that would have just given more fuel for the fire and ratcheted up Muslim's distrust for all us non-Muslims.
