Won't happen. Even if it gets past the Senate(which won't happen) Obama will veto it.

won't happen... until 2012 when the next GOP president is elected and we have the House, Senate AND oval office.

Don't be so sure, 2 years ago it was safe to assume that no Republicans would be elected on a large scale for quite some time.

Obviously not.

The difference between 2 years ago and the last election was, Bush lost the PR battle with regards to Iraq while Obama put forth policies people didn't want. The Republicans tacked away from Iraq, but Obama can't get away from his policies.

Iraq was a policy.

Agreed. Though he'll be put in a very interesting position. The 2012 election will then no doubt focus on healthcare. Don't want healthcare? Vote Republican. How sure are you President Obama??

I hope you're right. It will be another guarantee that he will be a one term prez.

The vast majority of Americans don't want this puke in a bucket, so if Dems want to run in 2012 on this, prepare for a landslide of biblical proportions.

Or it could revitalize the Democratic party's liberal voting block that put him in power.

Most likely it will have minimal effect. The economy is a much much larger issue most years.

Or, most probably, he noticed how the Dems got their asses spanked in November.

No matter how much he acts it, he's not so stupid that he thinks that he can get re-elected with a voting block that makes up less than 25% of the country.

Actually the majority of people supported a single payer health care bill. While this health care bill is not popular simply because of the fact that the majority of it hasn't gone into place yet, and people can't see the benefits of it. Once it goes into place, I don't people will hate it as much.

Ya'll still using that talking point?

Symbolic gestures are great but don't really mean too much. How do House Republicans plan on dealing with parts of the Health law that a majority of the population support. If Republicans what to show that they can govern then they will have to do something more substantive. Simply waiting for two years in the chance (still small in my opinion) of winning the Senate and the White House is a waste of our time. I see a compromise between Republicans and Democrats in the future. If not... Well then why don't they just vote to outlaw the Democratic party. It won't pass but it too would be popular among conservatives and make headlines. Stop wasting time! It costs the taxpayers money!

Actually, that is a lie:

Thirty-two percent (32%) of voters nationwide favor a single-payer health care system where the federal government provides coverage for everyone. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 57% are opposed to a single-payer plan.

Actually, that is a lie:

I am talking about hearing about the numbers I heard about from mid 08. I could try and look it up, but it's not that important.

KSU and I saying you're wrong, KSU proved you wrong, which make both of us right, so until you provide us with some proof, you're wrong.

Are you kidding? He campaigned heavily on health care in 2008 and won by a substantial margin. Even if he was inclined to care more about his reelection than about health care (for which I haven't seen any evidence so far), do you really think that supporting repeal of his signature domestic achievement would help him win reelection? This is one of the most ludicrous assessments I've seen in quite a while.

Actually, that is a lie:

Another Poll Shows Majority Support for Single-Payer – Healthcare-NOW!
A New York Times/CBS News poll released last week shows, yet again, that the majority of Americans support national health insurance.
The poll, which compares answers to the same questions from 30 years ago, finds that, “59% [of Americans] say the government should provide national health insurance, including 49% who say such insurance should cover all medical problems.”
Only 32% think that insurance should be left to private enterprise.

I guess now is where we get into the "my poll is better" mode.

A Bush policy. Where is he now?

A policy. And his party backed away from a stupid policy. Anyone can. Bush could have.

He didn't.

But the difference here is Obama has a sound policy, distorted by ssome on your side. ;)
