Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords Shot In Arizona

With the reported condition of the killer, it looks to me like a mass murderer with political delusion. Assasination attempts are not as usually as messy as this.

For all he knew he killed the politican with a bullet to the head, but he was reloading a 2nd clip?? Why? I think he was troubled man determined to take as many people down with him, if he hadn't been stopped I'm betting he would have turned the gun on himself.

Not convinced on your "suicide at the end" forecast, but tend to agree on the other points.

He emptied a 31 shot clip (which i didn't know existed) and was in process of reloading. At least according to current news releases. Also reported is that he was systematically moving down the line shooting individuals in sequence.

Indications suggest this guy just had a goal of coldly racking up a massive body count.

Precisely, hasn't got the hallmarks of a political killing at all. More of a mass murder spree like Columbine. I think he would have turned on the gun himself if the cops has surrounded him, he probably didn't count on civilians tackling him though.

That would be incorrect. There are a lot of things in life that are not illegal, but not moral or good or wise. Being legal only means you can do, not that you should.
 
I watched in disgust yesterday as each of the Sunday morning talk shows cleverly talked about our current state of "political discourse" - adding cute phrases like "not to blame the tea party, but in terms of the tone of the debate".

Not only are they patently wrong about the gunmen's politics - people who know him describe him as left wing if anything - but the complete lack of shame to call this guy anything but mentally deranged is truly a disgrace. This isn't a coherent individual striking out against the system. This is a demented nutjob who roamed the town, giving everyone he met the creeps.

This was the guy you see walking along the road arguing out loud with no one. His rants and arguments were entirely disjointed, making no sense whatsoever. I'm still not sure what he meant by the government controlling our minds "and grammar". What the hell is all that about?

Yet, there they were, all lathered up, rushing to point fingers at the tea party. And this, mere hours after the tragedy. I know that about 0.01 percent of the populations watches these shows anyway, but it's still maddening.

And yet, the media still struggles to understand their irrelevance.

Yes, he was crazy. Yes, he is to blame and not the tea party or Palin or Beck or Oberman.

But the discourse, another issue, is too over the top, and deserving of discussion and criticism.

Back on topic, the scary thing is, we've all known people like this wacko. I worked with a guy once that I was certain would one day take my life. He was the type to walk into the office and start shooting.

And there's nothing you can do about it. This dude was feared by professors, his acquaintances, pretty much anyone that had a conversation with him. He was psychotic, and it showed. Yet, until he finally snaps, there's nothing that can be done.

We had to fire a guy once for incompetence. I was so convinced he would walk back in and start shooting, I hid in the server room until he was gone.
