President Obama will sit down with Fox News host Bill O'Reilly in an interview set to air on Super Bowl Sunday.

A Fox News spokeswoman confirmed reports that the president would sit down with the conservative pundit for a pre-game interview before the Super Bowl on the Fox broadcast network.

The sit-down will be a moment of outreach between Obama and the network, which his administration has clashed with during the past two years over the network's coverage of the White House.

It's also the second straight year Obama will use one of the most watched television events of the year to advance his message. He sat down last year with Katie Couric on CBS, the network that hosted the NFL championship game, which took place during the height of the healthcare battles in Congress.

I have to say the first O'Reilly interview with President Obama was fairly decent and I expect this one to be the same.

Yea it was ok, but Obama still managed to get elected.. :)

I want Bill to ask the community organizer and chief, some questions designed to divulge just what an ass wipe this guy really is?

Exactly the point i was going to make. That interview during the campaign was very professionally done and genuinely a good interview.

Suspect this is going to be a bit lighter and connected to the game. But still expect it to be respectful.....

So, you want O'Reilly just to be an ass to some one you political disagree with? That would actually hurt O'Reilly's credit more than the President's.

He'd be an ass for asking how his qualifications have traslated into effective leadership as President? Odd? Look, the guy delegates everything.. Not just some thing.. EVERYTHING! He's an empty suit!

You know what I'd like to see.

2 adults with differing views talk things out in a adult fashion.

A conservative with legitimate concerns, asking the president of their nation the tough questions that do need to be asked.

I'm not looking forward to this to see anyones ass get kicked.

I disagree with the guy, I would go as far to say that on many occasions he's twisted the truth, the time he exploded at the Iraq War Veteran who was Anti-War was inexcusable in my opinion. I'd love to see him survive one day in Iraq, come back and see if he's all still for war.

But I have to say, sometimes he's got good points to make. You'll never get your enemy on side if you dismiss them entirely.

You do not need to be an ass to asking hard questions and be a good interviewer. O'Reilly seems to forget that at times when he gives interviews. Personally I would rather see Wallace give the interviewer since he is the best that Fox has.

O'Reilly will probably ask him some hard-hitting questions from a conservative standpoint...but I don't think O'Reilly will be obnoxious to him. Bill O'Reilly is smart enough to know that there is a difference between interviewing some anonymous liberal and interviewing the President of the United States.

well said. plus hopefully since its before the super bowl it wont be strictly about politics. we need some lightheartedness.

I think the interview will be fine.

First, realize the situation. Its the superbowl, its not a time for hard hitting, deeply indepth, deeply meaningfuly political questions. Its not the proper venue, nor audiance.

Second, you should show respect for the office based on this situation. Since this isn't a deeply political situation, some respect should be shown the office by not trying to make it into some kind of "gotcha" spectacle (such as the NBC interview that deliberately took Sarah Palin out of context to do so during the campaign).

Third, based on the non political nature of the situation and the generalized respect that should be shown to the office, the best bet is to deal less with ideological policy and more with general questions regarding now.

What was his feelings of his first two years? What was his feelings of the mid terms? What is his thoughts going into these next two years? Is he thinking ahead to 2012 at all? Does he have a particular item that is most important to him in the next 2 years (ala health care in the first half)? Does he have a particular item he thinks he could fully get behind that the Republicans are pushing? Who does he think will win the game?

Only one question really fully lets him go into agenda/ideology talk, and that's balanced by the question regarding working with the other side. The rest of it is simply allowing people to get some insight into how he thinks, which frankly could go either way depending on what side you're viewing it from.

On the flip side, I think its also encumbant on OBAMA to be upstanding in this as well. Its the superbowl, its non-political, its a friendly interview. Don't take jabs at Bush, don't take jabs at the republican congress, don't get overly ideological, and make it more personalable then lecturing.

I think, based on his "entertainment" type of appearances before, that he can do this. I also think, given O'reily's previous history of interviewing Obama and his history with these type of things...and his attitude during the election night coverage which I thought was excellent save for the one time he openly admitted he was getting nasty...that he'll be up to the task as well.

You're going to see probably the most middle of the road pundit in the country ask Obama some tough questions. Obama can man up and answer the questions, or he can dodge them and look like a *****. Either way, he'll leave out looking like an asshole, but those are really his only two choices.

I just finished Pinheads and Patriots and--IMO--O'reilly ended up rating Obama 50/50 pinhead/patriot.

Another utterly surprising statement from apdst...
