Sanitation Department's slow snow clean-up was a budget protest

Lol and here MaggieD comes ever so predictably jamming words down our throats. Perhaps Maggie you could point out where I said this is untrue?

I'll save you the time and let you know that you can't because I haven't even offered a position on the story, but merely pointed out that the OP and his cronies are lying by portraying this hearsay from unnamed sources as true.

And now here you come lying yourself by deliberately misrepresenting my post so that you can claim that I'm "just as bad".

Were you not thinking that I would catch your lie? Or were you just not thinking at all when you wrote that post? I'd give you the benefit of the doubt but I can't decide if it's worse to be a liar or an idiot.

I lied? Hardly. Your post I referred to called the OP a liar. You seem to like calling posters that...albeit coming in by different doors. Ha! In his first sentence, he calls the charges "ALLEGED."

I am from the planet where you stand tall and be a man. In my employment history i did not hesitate to take on my employer several times and never once did it hiding behind the outhouse pretending it was not me...[another post follows]

My experience is that if you want to be taken seriously, you stand up and be counted. Eventually, you usually have to do so anyways if it gets anywhere. In addition, I, just like these workers, had union protection so their status as whistle blowers should be protected several different ways. And with the god-like Rupert Murdoch and his bastion of shining journalism on their side, who would dare try to retaliate against such righteousness?

Whistleblowing on this level is scarey. If true that you had union protection, then you know darned well that can mean absolutely nothing re on-the-job and OFF-the-job intimidation. Pulleeeze.

I fully support any investigation if there is reasonable cause to go forth and have one. People here are constantly complaining about government spending and protecting the taxpayer. Lets do it here also. If people come forward with credible information and it bears out, have the investigation and let the chips fall where they may. The key there is people coming forward and being willing to do what is right.

If you'da made THIS post instead of the first one you DID make, you'da had no complaints from me.

I do NOT think I am any sort of paragon of bravery. I simply do as I was raised to do. In this world you can only die once. Might as well do it standing up like a man. But in this case, these are supposedly union members with protections and due process plus you have whistle blower laws also. I was never much for anonymous letters or whisper campaigns behind somebodys back. It always struck me as not the right thing to be doing.

OMG, talk about drama. "You can only die once." Whistleblowers are allowed to remain anonymous for a reason. That you can't understand that simply means you're out of the loop.

If this report is true, then the instigators should be fired or somehow disciplined. However, I would like to see reports from a reputable source first.

First sentence? Agreed. Last one? I would like to see the charges substantiated -- reputable has nothing to do with anonymous.

I was, of course, speaking from the peanut gallary perspective. But you are right, there should be an investigation into this and if found true, there should be hell to pay.

Unions breathing their last breath. Pension funds drying up. Early retirement for union workers looking less likely.

Sounds like we need us another stimulus package.

Well, yes, yes I think they are....Also, one should remember back to the times of Bush...I am wondering if they are also some of the same voices that not only believed anonymous sourcing against that administration, but shifted any criticism of that use in pointing out how we should debate what is alleged, and not how it was alleged. Shameful.

This whole story, Children dying, heart attacks going unattended to, Plows traversing streets with plows up 4 days later, Plowmen sleeping instead of doing their job, Sickouts. What a pile of crap these unions are. They should be outlawed in the public services sector.

A-FREAKING-MEN! ^^^^ Here it is folks. You've sucked America dry long enough, either take this NEW pay and compensation plan, or an ad goes out in the paper tomorrow? It'll read, the US Federal/local/state government is hiring in all areas, please apply. I don't see how the unions hold any actual power in negotiations. Their power is in corrupt politicians! I can think of about, what, 13 million unemployed that would love to answer that ad.. :)

hmmmm.....any of this been proven yet? what? it hasnt? i'll be damned, but lets blame the union anyway...party on garth!

Boy but it does not get much to have you guys pointing north in near group orgasm. Three unnamed people talk to a person who talks to the NY Post (of all papers) and that is reason for your day of Jubilee? Some folks need to badly get a life.

If there was some kind of criminal negligence here, you're willing to just let it go?

And when it is indeed proven, will we see you come in to retract this? Nope. But nice to see that your Union mentallity is in full bloom. So those speaking out to city council members are what? Lying?

has anything been proven? and will you come and retract your accusastions if they are proven false? nope...party on garth

So answer me, do you think those that have stepped forward to the city council are lying?

i know as much as you do j, thing is, i havent judged them on hearsay....because the union plows the roads, they are automatically guilty in your book , hell dude, just come out and admit it...you saw union in the story, and automatically thought it was the unions fault.

We don't even know if "those who came forward" exist, let alone what was said. One partisan councilman might just be embroidering reality for petty gain.

No, I saw the dead children, and co workers telling how they were told to take their time, and ride through neighborhoods with their plows up, and I was enraged. You should be too, it makes organizations like unions look like immature thugs, only concerned with themselves. Difference is, I wasn't surprised to read that they were union drivers. Usless.

As far as what I read it was the supervisors in those districts. But both the supers, and the drivers that were responsible for the two children, and the heart attack victim should be arrested for depraved indifference.

1. Because they are ""ALLEGED.""
2. Taking completely unsubstantiated hearsay and reporting it as the undeniable truth is lying. People that lie are called liars.

Might not put the snowplow operator in much-of-a-bind, but the guy supervising the snowplow operator might have to answer a few questions. Yes?

agreed.......i await the results of the investigation.

Twice The Normal Amount Of Sanitation Workers Called In Sick For Blizzard

well, that sure don't LOOK good

no wonder bloomberg says he's gonna investigate

The comments from the hufftards on that link are particularly delightful.

I'll wait until I hear it from another source than the Post.

Furthermor*e If I'm the mayor of a city and I know a snow storm is going to hit and I find out that 12% of the sanitation workers are calling in sick. There should have been a backup plan. Did Bloomberg not know this. A snow storm is going ot hit call you sanitation people make sure that they are ready.

Hey if Chris Christie doesn't feel the need to show up for work, why should the sanitation workers. It just goes to prove that, when it comes down to it, America needs the people who actually do the work instead of the blowhards who only talk down to those who do the heavy lifting. Maybe if your willingnes*s to pay taxes was matched by your fake moral outrage against ACTUAL WORKERS then the problem would be resolved.

New York's Strongest meets the internet's dumbest.

puhleeze! you obviously know squat about unions.

:lamo You can think what you like there dude, But I grew up in Lansing MI, Worked for a Pepsi bottler in Maryland that was Unionized, (I had no choice to join or not), and have seen the utter destruction, and self involved crap unions, and their members inflict on society. Take a stroll through Flint MI, Detroit MI, Hell, even through Dundalk MD, with what the Steel workers unions did to Beth Steel. Unions are short sighted thugs that couldn't care less about the communities they destroy.

I moved out of MI as fast as I could in my 20s because I saw the future, and I was right.

blah blah blah...you lived in michigan, thats great j, so did i....how many meetings did you attend when you were union? how involved did you get in your union....i bet you never got involved at all, because if you had been involved, you would know that unions are not the monsters you make them out to be, that they arent all powerful when it comes to getting a contract, that the reps don't just walk up to management, and tell them how its going to be....good god, please don't speak about things you have no understanding of, or that you choose to be willfully ignorant of. it is really unbecoming.
