China has said it is willing to bail out debt-ridden countries in the euro zone using its $2.7trillion overseas investment fund.
In a fresh humiliation for Europe, Foreign Ministry spokesman Jiang Yu said it was one of the most important areas for China's foreign exchange investments.
The country has already approached struggling European countries with financial aid, including offering to buy Greece's debt in October and promising to buy $4billion of Portuguese government debt.
'To have any discernible effect China will have to buy a lot more than 5billion euros if they expect to have any impact on the negative sentiment surrounding Europe,' said Michael Hewson, currency analyst at CMC Markets.

I like this, because eventually China will get in over its head. I remember when Japan got cocky with its new money, and got its lunch eaten for stupid investments.

The Commies are going to take over the world, without firing a shot.

No, no one has ever taken over the world, and several have tried and failed. I think this is a stupid move by China. Buying debt from the US is one thing; buy debt from Greece and Portagul is another.

While for the most part I agree with you, the US is about to reach a debt:GDP ratio of 1:1, which isn't good for our economic health at all.

Well, they only bought four billion of Portugal's debt. I don't think such a small sum is something to worry about.

It's only humiliation when you still see China as some sort of enemy.

The Chinese see you as an enemy.

Obviously Deuce doesn't see it that way. Hypothetically, if China invaded tomorrow, Deuce would draw a map for lost Chinese soldiers and serve tea and cupcakes. They are allies after all. Or do I have that wrong?

I'll take the Chinese any day over American leftists.

I'm sure Poland said the same thing in 1943 about Stalin, given their perdicament at the time. They didn't know what they were in for...

My wife is Chinese. Our sons are Eurasians. My daughter in law is Viet/Chinese. I like the Chinese.

I don't like the American left. Neither does anyone else in my family.

Don't confuse the Chinese people with the Chinese government.

Well, as long as we're making absurd claims, the Chinese could serve you tea and cupcakes and you'd shoot them for being communists.

Conservative absolutism is always hilarious. They think there's literally no ground in between best buddies and mortal enemies. "You're either with us, or against us."

Leftism is like a dangerous virus. No half measures can be used in exterminating it. Better safe than sorry.

So does this mean that China will forgive all our debt that they own? Sweet.

There was an experiment done a while back. It was a sort of nation-simulation game. The players took the role of governance over the various world nations. Before the experiment, people were given a personality test. Those who scored high on the right-wing-authoritarian scale were put in one group, those who scored low in another.

The "liberal" group had some troubles. Millions of people in Africa ended up starving to death. However, eventually things worked out in a peaceful fashion and the world became a mostly stable place with little conflict and a reasonable distribution of resources.

The high-RWA group started a global thermonuclear war.

Ironic since the US is in far more debt than the European average plus owes most of it to ..... drumroll... China.

Well the European average is perhaps a bit less given historical differences within the various countries. However, there are countries within Europe with far exceeding debt than that of the United States. Still, that being said I think that China should forgive all the US debt which it owes.

Add to that the fact the US once had fairly liberal and business friendly policies. This can return, it's in our blood.

Europe is largely hostile and bureaucratic and has been for quite some time.

Cut spending, cut taxes, cut regulations and this economy will recover like a buoy submerged hundreds of feet once it's cut free from its anchor.

It's a smart move by China. They can leverage their economic power over more nations than just the US.

q. What's the first English phrase Chinese business students learn?

a. Uncle Sam, your banker will see you now.

The claim that the Chinese hate America is absurd. They simply want political and economic sovereignty, just like any nation would who could grab it.

But I'd give them a choice of which firearm they'd prefer.

Again, they get a choice... with or against. Liberal socialists only have one way - their way. And the ground you speak of is only ground if conservatives capitulate that it's ground. Otherwise, it's called something else.
