U.S. proposes cellphone ban for truck drivers

if that's what it takes to save life and property so be it.

Flying ice from truck severely injures motorist - Chicago Breaking News

The truck driver continued driving west, but other drivers stopped and came to Morano's aid.

DOOD!

retrofit something like this to every trailer.

It's not rocket surgery.

Maybe 4 wheelers shouldn't tailgate trucks and it would not happen

For your information truckers had the best safety record in 2009 since records have been kept. That speaks for itself that truckers are policing themselves

I have a Gallaxy 44 that swings about 50 watts.

CB'S are still here but if they take cell phones CBs will be next. I often use mine to get directions to a customer.

Mine dead keys variable from 5-100 without the amp.

You gotta be ****ting me..... If he was tailgaiting the ice would have flown over him. :doh

Besides I miss the part of the article indicating he was tailgating.

So Ice that did that damage flew ove a 100 feet? Yeah right it is always the trucker never rude 4 wheelers

Ice missiles the cause of several big wrecks and huge backups in PA | TOLLROADSnews

. Ice sheets will fly off a trailer with with such force that vehicles 50 -100 feet back will get nailed. So will oncoming traffic if the wind is right.

and isn't is a car length for every 10 mph? so that would be about 6 car lengths, shy of 100 feet.

Yeah right it is always the trucker never rude 4 wheelers

I never said that, nor do I believe it.

bro, think about it, moving foward at say 65. that would be 65 feet distance to not be tailgaiting....

Yet you are not proving how close this happened. People have a tendency to tail gate trucks

So that guy deserved that because you suspect he was tailgaiting?

what about the ice that flies into oncoming traffic, effectivly doubling the force.

d00d, to me there is no excuse. Maintain your vehicle. if your ice flies off your truck and kills someone, you should be charged with negligent homicide.

Things happen. If a trucker blows a tire or kicks up stones and damages a car that is also his fault. Stop following so close and this will not happen

Those two things are usually not caused by negligence. You haven't proven tailgaiting... see my pic above from this morning, the only one tailgaiting is the truck.

So a truck has no rights and should let all rude 4 wheelers by before passing those 4 wheelers that are obstructing traffic by going so slow. It is not the slow 4 wheelers fault it is the truck drivers fault. Typical

He never made it pass the car in the right lane...... the truck couldn't keep up with the flow, so he then eventually turned back into the right lane, and continued tailgaiting the car in the right lane.

all by that time causing a multi car backup slowing the passing lane to under 50mph in a 65 so he wouldn't be "inconvenienced"....

As far as I'm concerned, if ya want to yak, yak, yak on the phone while drivin' then pull off to the side of the road. I see too many idiots drivin' along with a phone hangin out of their ears. They are an accident waitin' to happen.

I think all cell phone use should be banned while drivin'. An it's one of the smarter things our gov't has tried to do....

well then you wouldn't hold a grudge if that "four wheeler" responded to your negligence and wonton disregard for someone elses life and safety with a bullet in your skull. :2razz:

Yeh, that sure would slow the eighty thousand pound missile down wouldn’t it?

Your morbi obesity problem is not my concern. :2razz:

Seriously, traffic and tailgaters is one of the main reasons I only pull loads west of the Mississippi. I would rather have a root canal than deliver in the NY,or NJ area.

I much prefer pulling my permit loads, on one of my drop decks, over the Rockies, or running up and down I-5 dragin containers. Getten to damn old for the NE part of the country, besides getten ready to retire, gonna snuggle up next to that big ole Gov tit.

What I want overturned is the Fed ban on truckers having a gun in the cab.

Sounds like an infringement to me. Once part of the Constitution has no more power than another.

So now a truck tailgating means a car was not? You are spinning so fast you make me dizzy.

If I have a day where I am cut off less than 10 times by 4 wheelers I had a good day. Like always it is always the truckdriver and never the rude, inconsiderate, always in a hurry to go nowhere 4 wheelers.

I haven't proven tailgating? You are the one who claims the car was back far enough yet you have not shown facts as to how far the car was behind the truck

So you are pissed because he slowed you down? The problem is by time he could pull out he lost his speed because of 4 wheelers. It is time 4 wheelers started giving big trucks room and realizing the big truck has as much right as anyone else. Truckers pay far more road taxes then you ever will

Then do it for all drivers not just truckers

What 4 whhelers don't know is some trucks like container and hevy haulers have permits to haul over 100,000 lbs.

Yes, they must think the escorts in front and back of the oversize loads must have an unusual hobby.

Better yanken a container, than choking a chicken in a truck stop.

I almost wen teh TD route, got "accepted" to a driving school with a Company out of Dallas. Stevens Trucking. Then they explained 5 weeks on the road at .26 a mile, oh and the first year I'd have to find transport to and from Dallas for picking up the truck and returning it. SCREW dat.
