HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say jewelry store owner Ramon Castillo shot and killed three men who were trying to rob his store Thursday afternoon. Today, as Castillo recovers from his own gunshot wounds, we are learning more about those robbers.

Some might ask what a local story is doing in the breaking news section. Well, it's here, and the reason is a valid one. The story here is that more people in the Houston area are beginning to apply a well-tested law enforcement technique that not only kills those who would rob them, but permanently removes the bastards from the streets, so they do not rob, or possibly kill, again. I am talking about, of course, the Second Amendment. Guns good. Scum dead. Taxpayer money not wasted. Scum had their trial, and their execution, at the hands of the man they were robbing. Poetic ****ing justice, and makes for a judicial system that is streamlined just the way I like it.

"It's sad, but crime doesn't pay," said neighbor Tim Valentine.

It may be "sad," but not for the three would-be robbers. I hope the guy makes it. And I hope the police determine he was righteous.

I, for one, don't see escalating a robbery into three dead and a fourth possibly to follow as being a good example for the 2nd amendment...

He is recovering from his own gun shot wounds?

Why did he shot himself?

He was shot by the robbers. The wounds are his, the bullets are not :D

I also hope he recovers...

Because he went through something traumatic, he might have psychological problems and phobias about returning to work or a compulsion to always watch his back.. I hope he can manage that in a healthy way too..

Hopefully the store owner has a full recovery and that scumbags in the future learn not to rob stores.

Doh! :doh :doh :doh

Well, I speak two languages.. so I'll just say I got confused.. lol

Some feel that governments should protect them, others feel they should be allowed to protect themselves. Europeans tend to fall into the former camp, Americans the latter. I prefer the latter.

Armed robbers who get away with their crimes, quite often escalate into worse crimes later. Good riddance to bad scum, best wishes to the store owner in his recovery.

Anyone who robs a store at gunpoint is a potential murderer. They have made a decision that "get money!" is more important than risking human lives: their own, their accomplices, the clerks, the lives of bystanders, the lives of any cops that might respond to the call. The potential for loss of life by criminal violence is inherent in all armed robbery.... this is why most states in the USA hold it lawful to defend against armed robbers with lethal force.

Good for Mr. Castillo! I hope he makes a full recovery.

Glad this guy was able to defend himself, and I hope he makes a full recovery. If he didn't have a gun, there is no telling what could have happened. They could have just stole from him, or they could have killed him as well. It's best not to let the criminal choose wether or not you get to live.

3 scum off the street. Other scum might think being scum might not be such a good idea.
Works for me.
This store owner may end up saving many more lives than he took.

yep, squashing cockroaches might send a message. As they say, if you cannot provide us with a good example we can make a horrible lesson out of you!!

When I shot a mugger and the DA edified the cockroach population-many of whom had migrated to that county-that half the adults in the area had carry permits, muggings sort of went away for a year or two. Even mopes don't like bad odds!

The robbers should get a stupidest criminal award.
I know they were Honduran, but didn't they know better than to pull that crap in Texas. :)

you remember that joke about the difference between a Dem family, a Republican Family and a texas family confronted by a mugger don't you?

Really. In Deuce world, people would just hand their money and goods over to armed robbers, instead of defending themselves and their property?

Well, I'm damn glad I don't live in Deuce world.

What Goshin has said here is extremely true. Picking up a gun to commit a violent crime at gunpoint (robbery) is a point that most criminals never make it to. Once an offender becomes willing to use a gun to commit a crime, he/she will continue to do so.

What do you thing the percent of criminals is who don’t have a gun on them when the commit their crime of choice?

There's a fair number that do, sure. Lots of drug-dealers, for instance, go armed mainly to defend themselves against other criminals who might want what they're holding. However, it is an order of magnitude worse when you're talking about a crime where they are brandishing the firearm openly at innocent persons, as is the case in armed robbery.

What a coincidence. I am also bilingual. I am ignorant in at least 2 languages.

Now YOU are the kind of Liberal I like. :)

Lance Thomas might be getting himself some competition in this store owner. ;)

Bravo, sir, and may you have a speedy recovery.

Edit: Btw, Duece, anyone shooting someone who is already threatening them with a gun is not escalating, they're defending themselves. :prof
