In his defense, prescription pain med addiction is a real problem that happens too often and is too easy to get caught up in. Doesn't mean we can't make fun of him, but the problem is legit.
 
He loses a lot of money over this deal...half pay of an O5 is a lot of bucks...
This situation is further evidence that a college education is wasted on some people.

Fondly, or with regret?

I get 3/8 pay as an E6 retired reserve, plus benefits. It is only about $1270 per month.
The LtCol. would have gotten around $5000 per month. Not to worry, tho, if he holds his ground, he can go on the lecture circuit and tell his story and present his distorted views to other "birther patriots" at $100 a plate.

And to think, the disinfectant of this sort of conspiracy theory is the sunlight of complete disclosure. For some unknown reason that hasn't happened. I wonder why? Perfect distraction maybe? Ah well, that in itself is just another conspiracy theory that I won't indulge in.

In any sense both sides of this particular issue are using it for their own means, which make me watch what the other hand is doing when this is brought up.

I don't think jail time or anything like that should be done. If he was a lower ranked combat soldier, sure, but this is a medical doctor for our troops. What he needs is a commander to remind him how important his job is and explain that he is serving the country... not the president. This is what people should be telling the man instead of trying to change his opinion about Obama (he has a fixed belief that probably won't change).

I don't really watch ED, but my dad does so I know his show..

That's good news.

While I personally think anyone who actually questions Obama's nationality is a total tool, that's not worthy of a slam-up. Endangering troops, your mission, and disobeying military orders BECAUSE of that belief, however, is criminal, and with any luck, he'll be going away for a while because of it.

I think he should get six years vice six months. He's an officer and a medicla doctor, means he's smarter than the average grunt and should have known better and as an example to anyone else, he should be held to a higher standard.
