According to the document, Venezuelan doctors accused their government of “politicizing health care at the expense of the health of Venezuelans.” :

In recent months, protests have paralyzed hospitals across Venezuela as doctors and patients have complained of shortages of medical supplies, delays in hospital renovations and unpaid wages and benefits. Observers describe public hospitals as increasingly dangerous places where underpaid, undersupplied, and understaffed doctors struggle to provide medical services to Venezuela's poor. Critics say that the GBRV has created a parallel medical system-"Barrio Adentro"-that has sucked resources away from the traditional hospital network and reduced the overall quality of medical services. The GBRV has suspended doctors for speaking out about the crisis while giving former military officers and community councils a greater role in hospital administration.

WikiLeaks Cable: Venezuela

"Venezuelan doctors accused their government of “politicizing health care at the expense of the health of Venezuelans.”

Isn't it great that our politicians are above behaving like Hugo Chavez?

That our politicians would take the utmost care when passing our healthcare laws to ensure the free market functions exceptionally, and not resort to bribes, lies, backroom deals and forcing some form of socialist crap down our throats without the public being informed about or the lawmakers having read such bills before passing them?

Everyone in Venezuela is covered, isn't that comforting and compassionate? Oh! I forget the key word... it's free too! (Because in the liberal mind there is such a thing as a free lunch)

It will take about 15 years for older Americans to realize what they've lost but the new generation will adapt to the government system and accept the low quality service and rationed health care as normal, just as they do wherever sociailized medicine is tried.

You mean they have socialized medicine and it's failing???

Sure didn't see that one coming. :lamo

wow,
expand health care to an entire population instead of just the wealthy, without expanding the number of health care providers or the budget for supplies
who could have anticipated any shortfall [/s]

btw, how many new medical schools are we building here?

You're familiar with health care in Venezuela, are you?

You're the one making the claims, remember?

You must have some support for these claims, right?

****ing Wikileaks need to die, except for when we can score partisan points.

Spud, I did say the Gay Soldier who leaked these docs should be executed. I believe Julian Fries should be imprisoned, but the docs are out there now and do provide some interesting insight, much of which the press should be reporting, but being expert journOlists haven't, and won't. Instead they'll behave like the Lapdogs for Obama that they are, and frantically paw away to cover the doo-doo's.

So pardon me for bringing to light in leaked cables what journalists should have done... report the truth.

Just some more detailed information on this...

A link to the actual cable can be found here.

It was sent from the American embassy in Venezuela to the Secretary of State in Washington DC on the 14th of December 2009.

From the perspective of law he shouldn't be executed, he should get whatever punishment the court deems necessary.

From a personal perspective I'm not sure what I think. He took a responsibility when he signed up to the military not to leak classified documents, so he shouldn't, but what sound the punishment be? I certainly find execution or any prison sentence over 20 years extreme. Remember, this is just what I think personally on the subject. He should get whatever the law gives him (we must respect the rule of law), but that doesn't mean I can't disagree with the law.

Presumably you're making the claim that you DO have experience with the Venezuelan healthcare industry. To ask him to prove you don't have experience is a clear cut burden of proof fallacy. He only needs to provide evidence if he's claiming that you're not, which as far as I can see he isn't, he's simply challenging your claim. if you aren't claiming this then there's no problem.

I can't be bothered with every goofy claim made on these boards. You have no support for your remarks so lets just let it rest there.

which means my opinion has as much standing as yours

Given that you're saying you have experience with Venezuela and he's challenging that claim, then you're making a positive claim and he's neither making a positive nor negative claim, he's simply asking for validation of your assertion. His opinion is neutral.

If you do have experience provide evidence, if you do not then say so and we don't have to further discuss this silly dispute.

Who cares anyway?
