Pentagon: Letting openly gay troops serve won't hurt military

So Obama has been fighting the repeal and you want him to flip flop. I am not surprised

No, he has been fighting the courts doing it. Large, unsubtle difference. He actually campaigned on repealing DADT through congress.

And if they did hit on you? Then what?

When I served, we were taught that hitting on another was OK, until they specifically asked us to stop. Continuing past then was harassment. I would assume it would work the same way. Gay hits on you, you ask them not to do it again, they continue, you report it, they go see the CO.

I see that working for the women, not the men.

Why? Not seeing the difference.

Men don't run to the CO because a fellow man hit on them in the shower and continues to do it. Go ahead and ask me why.

that's not how the mamby pamby "sexual harrassment" works in the military today. If a female walks past you and you look at her ass...that's harrassment if she is offended. If you make the statement "you look nice today" to the wrong person you can be looking at a SH charge. They have gone waaaaay freaking overboard with it. it is just plain stupid. Of course, most of the stupid cases get dropped but the accused still has to go through the pain in the ass of dealing with it.

yeah, they beat the **** out of him and he gets the message. either way...problem solved.

If they were to hit on you I would expect you to report it. Just like I would expect a woman to report a man hitting on them.

Benning didn't in '86, Dineyland at Knox did in '88 and I don't remember much about the showers at Yokota Air Base for the 2 weeks I was there in 1990. But at the time, if someone was gay they didn't say or show a peep back then. If openly gay members are going to be openly gay, there will be problems... I don't believe the Army has progressed or the Marines have progressed to tolerance of that level. Sure, some individuals will be accepted but I have to think the majority will not. This could tear apart our military. Frankly, I don't want to know and back then, I probably REALLY wouldn't want to know.

This is the reality. I personally am for Gays serving but NOT openly. I think that Clinton made the right compromise in DADT. The fact, despite what liberals turn a blind eye too, is that some branches, especially combat arms, are not going to take to this well. I haven't read the Pentagon report, and frankly I don't care what it says. I know how the military will react to his, and no glossing, or sugar coating by a dressed-down, Liberal incumbent CaC managed military can change that reality.

When I served, we gave "blanket parties" to ANYONE that was different, or perceived to be weak. It happened all the damn time. Being openly gay, when I served, was a death warrant. One could say that "well then they're all homophobes".. yeah, maybe, but remember they're also between the age of 18 and 28 on average, and uber-testosterone filled boys, awash with ideas of killing a man in real life to defend their nation. I'd say it is recipe for disaster, potentially, and the powers that be, haven't really thought this through enough, IMO.

The folks at the Pentagon are pencil pushers, disconnected from the boys on the ground, and in terms of this report, my guess it was delegated to some civillian agency anyway.

Look, DADT being repealed isn't something MOST gay's in the military even want, coz they know the reality themselves. This is for the civillian gay agenda, and to inch themselves one step closer to full acceptance in society, and gay marriage.

It's the wrong thing to do..

It take more than a look; she has to object. If that weren't the case they could make up ****.

go ahead and repeal DADT. just because you can serve openly as gay, doesn't mean you have to. as long as you don't stand in the corner of the shower eyeing my junk and soaping yourself, I could care less. and that probably wouldn't even bother me. Just don't get your feelings hurt when you do something lame/weak or sissified and I call you gay. I think in most cases it is a non-issue. The kind of gay who will join the military is not typically going to be the flamer who wants to give blowjobs to every guy in the shower.

Exactly! This isn't being driven by gay members of the military. They already KNOW. This is coming from the gay left gestapo, and they couldn't care less about the actual reality. Not to mention that this agenda driven group, probably haven't even served, EVER. It's ideological, not practical.

If they were to hit on you I would expect you to report it. Just like I would expect a woman to report a man hitting on them.

And that's not realistic. Men have two testicals and a penis and are not ruled by estrogen but testosterone, which is why primarily Men have fought wars and died, and women primarily did not. No self respecting man would be able to go to their CO and complain Prvt so and so is hitting on me in the shower and I can't make him stop. You might as well ask for a discharge yourself because you'll be a laughing stock ***** for the rest of your military career. No one will want you in their squad, no one will trust you, and it will most likely affect your ability to advance in rank. That p-file will follow you everywhere you go.

Some do make **** up and the same procedures are followed.

haven't been in the military recently I take it. As a commissioned officer, I have conducted numerous AR 15-6 investigations into allegations of sexual harrassment where "they made **** up". The problem is she/he can object at any time. it doesn't matter whether or not their objection has merit.

I had one case where a female accused a guy of harrassment because he kept talking to her. did she ask him to stop? no. did she tell him it bothered her? no. did that stop her from coming to my office and wanting to file a formal complaint? no. did she change her mind even after I asked her the first two questions? no. did the officer assigned to do the investigation determine that she was harrassed? no. did it waste two weeks of the life of and embarrass the poor geek she accused? unfortunately yes.

had another case where a group of females got together and conspired to get their NCO on harrassment charges. all of them "made **** up". the whole time the poor schlub is swearing on every bible he could find he didn't do anything. but it was his word against all of their's and they had rehearsed so that their stories matched. He only got off because one of them had an attack of conscience and admitted they made the whole thing up.

yep seems the ones that are most vocal about getting "the right to serve" are those least likely to want to serve.

We all get the same sexual harassment training.

then you should know that people can, do, will and will continue to "make **** up". I don't see the point you were trying to make

Not that it matters, that's quite a leap.

It will cause problems in the ranks which will hurt the trust factor needed to do their job

Couldn't just say no? Are do you suggest men can't do what women do regularly?

Okay seriously, it's time to repeal this thing now. And the term being openly gay, doesn't mean that their going to flirt with their fellow soldiers, or try to play grab ass with them. There going to act the same they are now, except that they can live their personal live just like every other straight solider can, and not live in fear of being discharged for going on a date, or having a family.

which is what I've been saying all along. the flaming, assless pants wearing "queers" are not going to join the military any way. The chances of a straight guy being hit on or accosted in the shower by a gay dude are remote. very little chance of you waking up in the middle of the night to find PVT Puffsalot with your junk in his mouth.

I think most people would be surpirsed to know just how many gay people are "secretly" serving under DADT as it is.

Then they have no room to bitch. When a solution is available and you choose not to use it, it becomes your own fault.
