Congressman wants WikiLeaks listed as terrorist group

Fitzgerald knew about Armitage and was satisfied with his alibi, but he wanted to know what the motivation was of other people who talking to the press which included Libby and Rove.

That was out of his scope. His charge was to find out who dropped the name in the first place, that was proven to be Armitage. That's it, case closed. However, as many a SP does they get drunk on the power they have and pick, and pick, then after wasting the time, they have to justify their overblown sense of being, so they find a process charge....Wow! That was worth it for a non covert agent that her own husband outed months prior with pic for easy id.

Terrorism is the word that anyone can now utilize when they find a group that they don't like. Who cares if it doesn't fit the actual definition?

Kind of like "racism" is today eh?

They have leaked state secrets to the enemy and should be treated accordingly.

Which has what to do with the topic? Also, you say this like you are somehow showing me up. When have I pulled the race card unnecessarily?

Maybe I didn't word it appropriately, I didn't mean it as a slam at you Doc.

You're implying he was Fed Exing it to some caves in Pakistan...

I wasn't "implying" any such thing. Read what I write, not what you think i write.

The fact is that the enemy of the democracies now are aware of secret information and these guys gave it to them. It's not a game.

So let me get this straight... The most shining example in our time of a truly free press, unfettered by politics... and we want them labelled as terrorists? This, right here, is the death of liberty. This is EXACTLY what the free press is for. To be the watchdogs and keep the public informed of the actions of otherwise secretive governments. The press is not here to be pundits, nor to give us their opinions, nor to bash political leaders, nor to use our lust for drama and blood to turn a buck. They are here to keep an eye on the powerful, and ensure that we are capable of holding them accountable.

These WikiLeakers are courageous and doing more to protect liberty than most anyone else in the world.

There have always been secrets in war time. It is not an issue of a free press but a responsible press. And this is international where much of the media is not free and thus they hear only one side.

This is EXACTLY what the free press is for. To be the watchdogs and keep the public informed of the actions of otherwise secretive governments.

Domestically perhaps, but it was never intended to be used for enemies of the state and to put lives at risk. No one's lives are enriched by this knowledge, It can only harm.

The press is not here to be pundits, nor to give us their opinions, nor to bash political leaders, nor to use our lust for drama and blood to turn a buck. They are here to keep an eye on the powerful, and ensure that we are capable of holding them accountable.

That is clearly untrue, at least as far as the real world is concerned.

Whose liberty are they protecting?

Publishing crap didn't do anything to them. Let's be honest about this. They're in harms way because of our aggressive, interventionist, state-building policies. Not because some d-bag put some **** on the internet.

Well, here we have the chicken and the egg don't we....here is where I say that their identity wouldn't be known to the dirtbags that will now kill them for their helping us.

And here is where I say that you have no way of knowing if anyone will be killed due to these leaks. You assume that there will be. Do you know what happens when a person "assume's" something?

No, there's no chicken and the egg. The wars have been going on for far longer than Wikileaks has been in existence. In fact, the length of the wars and incompetence of the leadership is what gave birth to Wikileaks. The fact remains that it's not Wikileaks who put these people in danger, it's our own aggressive and interventionist policies which have not only put those people in danger, but gave rise to Wikileaks itself. There's nothing which has been released yet which can be proven to have cost "lives".

This is bull****. If the WikiLeakers really were as courageous as you say, then why haven't they done any dumps of leaks on the People's Republic of China, the Russian Federation, the European Union, or even African countries on the level that they've done from leaks from the United States?

WikiLeaks says that they exist to fight oppression, but while I know that the United States is by far not the best nation in the world, I know for certainty it is not the most oppressive by far.

Why don't you find the country that "by far" is the best and go there?

What they did is illegal. That is not a standard we should praise.

That's very authoratative. I do not believe it is universally true. For instance, what the founding fathers did was illegal. Treason even. But I think it's very praise worthy.
