Leslie Nielsen of 'Naked Gun' fame dies at age 84

He became known as a serious actor, although behind the camera he was a prankster. That was an aspect of his personality never exploited, however, until "Airplane!" was released in 1980 and became a huge hit.

As the doctor aboard a plane in which the pilots, and some of the passengers, become violently ill, Nielsen says they must get to a hospital right away.

Great actor in a lot of hilarious movies.

Surely, you will be missed.

He was a very funny man and he will be missed!

I liked him as SWAMP FOX.

I liked him best in movies like Forbidden Planet and in the Swap Fox series, but that was too long ago for many to remember.

I see that haymarket remembers, those were the days when TV was worth watching. It brings back a lot of great TV memories of that time like The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca with Frank Loggia, and Texas John Slaughter, with Tom Tryon.

Leslie Nielsen kept some really good company and made great memories for several generations and there are very few actors of his caliber left and few with his class coming along.

R.I.P. Mr Magoo.

I loved Leslie's comedic genius and from what I understand, he was a stand-up guy in real life. RIP.

Good luck, Leslie. We're all counting on you.

Councilman - do you also remember two other westerns from that period - CHEYENNE and SUGARFOOT? I liked both of those since the lead characters we so completely opposite of each other. I remember as a kid realizing that you don't have to be the stereotypical John Wayne type to be a hero - although Clint Walker certainly fit that bill.

RIP Leslie.

"I couldn't believe it was her. It was like a dream. But there she was, just as I remembered her. That delicately beautiful face. And a body that could melt a cheese sandwich from across the room. And breasts that seemed to say... "Hey! Look at these!" She was the kind of woman who made you want to drop to your knees and thank God you were a man! She reminded me of my mother, all right. No doubt about it. "
