Oregon Teen Arrested in Plot to Bomb Holiday Event

So what would you have done about Afghanistan after 9/11?

Given that you're someone who often talks about human rights, I'm sure you were outraged about the Taliban even before 9/11.
Neither Iraq nor Afghanistan attacked us on 9/11, in fact 15 of the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. And most of the planning for 911 was done in Germany.

President Bush said was going to get Osama bin Laden "dead or alive" which I supported. He gave up trying when his commanders let bin Laden get away at Tora Bora. Later Bush said he didn't care about bin Laden and didn't think much about him. So in essence President Bush said to the terrorists that needn't worry because the U.S. will not follow through.

See, here's the problem: you don't understand the role that Afghanistan played in 9/11.

That's for saying nothing of value. :2razz: Why did Bush abandon his pledged to get Osama bin Laden?

Perhaps because Bin Laden is and has been hiding in the tribal communities of Pakistan and maintaining diplomatic relations with Pakistan requires support of the government without creating an environment where Bin laden and the Taliban and Al Qaeda would be able to topple Pakistans government? Perhaps because they (like your current god Obama) is smart enough to know that a military excursion into Pakistan would have devastating impact? Perhaps because by playing the current game of whack-a-Osama they rendered him relatively powerless and opted for inteligent response vs blind get him at all cost wisdom?
Geez...Pete...you are a friqin world politics genius. Obama ought to hire you. You are TRULY wasting your talents hidden behind some keyboard somewhere with your vast knowledge.

Perhaps they could have gotten when he was at Tora Bora.

UBL's dead. He did keep his pledge to kill him. I believe that UBL died at Tora Bora, or shortly after, of wounds he received at Tora Bora.

Ah...but to those who think....the organization that trained and planned 9/11 was protected in Afghanistan and the decrepit UN containment mission over Iraq was a reason used by Osama Bin Laden for 9/11. You see, to the knowledged, the problem is more than just a few Muslims hiding out in caves. In every war, the source must be cut off, not just the players. It's the entire oppressive region that feeds these terrorist groups and encourages them to act on their behalf. And given the fact that modernist Muslims have been screaming for democracy since before Europeans arrived to screw them up and along the way many of them have turned towards radicalism to explain away their social and civilizational failures in the 20th century.....fix the Middle East and our enemies cease to exist.

Of course, your idea of attacking Saudi Arabia and Germany is way off base.

I don't think you know what to support at all.

If you are relying on President Bush to be your guide through the Middle East you are hopelessly confused. If we weren't following through, Al-Queda wouldn't be the miserable wreck it is today from Africa through the Middle East and on to Asia. Did you realize that we have been fighting them throughout the world and destroying their networks for the last 9 years? Or did you think Afghanistan and Iraq was it? I believe 9 years after the fact and that we are still in their war that they probably are taking us serious. Did you realize that common sense evidence points absolutely to OsamaBin Laden's being dead?

Who say's he alive?

Let's think this through......

Osama Bin Laden went from making videos, to writing letters, to doing nothing. At a time when Al-Queda was getting it's butt kicked in Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Indonesia, and the Phillipines they needed a recruiter's poster. As Iraq was flipping towards the good in 2006, Al-Queda recruited heavily from Africa...not the Arab Middle East. With Al-Queda murdering fellow Muslims across Iraq with the aid of insurgents from all over the region, thye vast majority of the Middle East saw them as the enemy. The ultimate tactic to use in order to convince the Arab massess throughout the Middle East that the Great Satan was losing, would have been a handy dandy video with Osama Bin Laden still defying the American military and Washington. Instead, the masses got nothing. The radical's hero was absent.

Now why is this? No true sign for the faithful Muslims?

Bush's pledge to "get Osama Bin Laden" was for the simple folk. This war is about the civilization that creates the Bin Ladens. He is merely a symptom. This is why Saddam Hussein (another symptom) was taken out and a democracy offerred in the heart land of this wrecked and oppressive region. This is why we have given Afghanistan an enormous amount of time to un-corrupt themselves with the lean towards democracy. This is why the Egytpian and Saudi governments have been pressured to offer more rights towards their citizens since 9/11 as every one of their citizens watched Arabs in Iraq vote on the laws that would govern them for the first time in history. What you are witnessing in the Middle east through television is the back lash of radicals whorefuse to give up God as the ultimate answer to all their problems against the modernists who are embracing the democratic future ina globalized world. This is something Saddam Hussein, the House of Saud, the Iranian Majlis, and the Tali-Ban would never allow. In the mean time, the Al-Quedas and the Bin Ladens of the region would continue to rebel and excuse their behaviors of lashing out to the international community.

Are you paying attention at all to what's going on? It's like you are stuck in 2003 and can't get past the sophomoric gripes and complaints. Most people have abandoned the argument to keep this as simple as possible in order to protest everything.

It wouldn't seen like the Holiday Season without another American Muslim attempting to kill fellow Americans would it?

The Muslim gawd is Gr8.
