DeLay convicted of money laundering charges

Re: Texas jury convicts Tom DeLay on money laundering charges

Uhmm Gore won the pop vote and for a sitting war time prez he barely got by kerry.

Revisionist history, we weren't at war when Bush won in 2000 and Bush got over 52% of the vote in 2004, the same as Obama

You should go outside and get some fresh air, seriously.

Re: Texas jury convicts Tom DeLay on money laundering charges

Randel said that DeLay "destroyed the will of the people" and as I pointed out the actual results which show that he had little if any affect on the will of the people. You have a lot of passion for what happened to Tom DeLay and the question is why? My bet is you don't really care but are just looking to stir the pot knowing that I am doing the same thing.

you stir to the right, I'll stir the middle, who wants to stir to the left?

My mistake 51% of the popular vote in 2004. So why do I need some fresh air? We weren't attacked until 9/11/01.

You're hardly in the middle. :lamo

Re: Texas jury convicts Tom DeLay on money laundering charges

Again, that is your opinion, the people of TX disagreed with you and voted overwhelmingly for Bush both as Governor and as President. You are entitled to your opinion no matter how wrong it is. GW Bush did nothing to hurt you or your family and beat the hell out of both Gore and Kerry. You sure have selective reasoning skills.
at least I have some reasoning skills...
as for electing Bush, the trick is timing, if your party has a pathetic candidate, choose a time to run when the opposition party's candidate is even more pathetic. Some call it the lesser of 2 evils, or weasles, I prefer the lesser of 2 self serving idiots...

How many points to the left of you is moderate...?

Did you vote for Obama?

You live in a country run by two political parties which gives you a couple choices, you can waste your vote on a third party or you can vote for the lessor of two "evils" and then work from a position of power. I chose the latter.

Re: Texas jury convicts Tom DeLay on money laundering charges

Did you vote for Obama?

No, hell no, not that it matters in Utah, a very republican state. our GOP governor just got re-elected, and I would not be surprised to see him and his DOT chief face corruption charges soon.

Re: Texas jury convicts Tom DeLay on money laundering charges

Did you vote for Obama?
what would that have to do with this thread? answer --NOTHING.

the sad thing is that with that sort of attitude there never will be a viable third party and you are on record as accepting an 'evil'.

and what has been done with power? money isn't the only thing that corrupts....

I doubt you are in any position to make a difference, unless you are Tom Delay's sock puppet...

Re: Texas jury convicts Tom DeLay on money laundering charges

if I were a puppet I might take offense to that ;)

A viable third party begins at the grass roots level and builds to the national level, not start at the national level and build downward. In order to govern one needs political support at the national or state level. Name for me a successful third party candidate at either the state or national level. When in office they run up against the establishment and that leads to failure.

It is easier getting audience identifying myself as a Republican than it is as a third party advocate. My Representative is a staunch conservative and I know that person on a first name basis. I have met with him often. All supporting a third party candidate does is give you the opportunity to whine and complain about the end result. I don't see where that serves any purpose.

Noticed that Randel gave you a thank you for this off topic post.

Re: Texas jury convicts Tom DeLay on money laundering charges

- it was cool --- and thanks right back to you. ;)

Re: Texas jury convicts Tom DeLay on money laundering charges

sure did, any problem with that?

Just found it interesting how you always complained about off topic posts then gave a thank you for an off topic post.

In the last century, the most successful third party efforts have been those built around large and famous personalities - Teddy Roosevlet in 1912, George Wallace in 1968 and Ross Perot in 1992. TR finished second , Wallace ran again but was shot and his party was shot along with him, and Perot had no real interest in funding millions into a party without him at the top. Its too bad. I do not disagree with your analysis that a party needs to have support from the bottom. But I think it can be done both ways.

If the GOP doesn't clean its house, and senate, it will likely become a third party....and the TeaParty is a poor substitute.
I have been saying for years that if we get a DEM in the WH, it will be the GOP's fault.
Let me modify it, if Obama wins a second term, it will be the GOP's fault.
Here we are only 2 years away, and the GOP has NO viable candidate.
By viable, I mean no crooks, con men, tax cheats, perverts, etc. AND has an academic record that indicates more than half a brain...

since you have had your ass handed to you throughout this thread, where you refuse to accept that the hammer was justly convicted, it would seem that you would want the thread to move off topic to avoid further embarrassment
you have no argument ... which does not seem to keep you from posting worthless crap which has nothing to do with delay's conviction. so, make your final point, accept the ass whipping, and move on
