DeLay convicted of money laundering charges

Re: Texas jury convicts Tom DeLay on money laundering charges

What exactly did DeLay do that affects you and your family compared to what Geithner, Waters, Rangel, Van Jones and others have done? Looks like I am more of a Texan than you are.

So your argument is that Tom DeLay shouldn't be attacked because he's not the only criminal politician in the news? That makes sense. Oh, wait, no, it doesn't make any sense at all.

If you want to elect politicians to a national office and defend them while they accept hundreds of thousands of dollars from corporate lobbyists who are influencing their vote -- once again, in a NATIONAL OFFICE -- that's fine because they will still be held accountable for breaking laws.

But you're telling us that what Tom DeLay did doesn't affect us? The leader of the House of Representatives was corrupt and taking money for corporate lobbyists in exchange for his vote... and that DOESN'T have any effect on us? Bull.

repeat after me

The Democrats have their own problems including the lies and diversions from Obama.

What exactly did DeLay do that affects you and your family? Obama put people in his Administration with a far worse record and they had and continue to affect Americans a lot more than DeLay. Van Jones, Tim Geithner come to mind but then again I guess if you are a Communist and a tax evader that is a badge of honor in the Democrat Party.
you seem to be confused...what does obama have to do with delay? delay was convicted.....so, why bring obama into the conversation? obama has nothing to do with the fact that delay was CONVICTED. why try to change the topic to obama?

Re: Texas jury convicts Tom DeLay on money laundering charges

You are right, TX is fiscally responsible and hasn't elected a Comedian to the Senate or a former Wrestler to the office of Governor.

Sorry, not interested in this conversation. Only interested in talking about Tom DeLay in the Tom DeLay thread. Something you haven't done, by the way. You haven't said anything about him, just attacked others. I guess that's proof of how wrong you are.

Re: Ex-House Leader DeLay Found Guilty in Texas Case

Tell me what affect he had on you based upon this case? Do Maxine Waters, Charles Rangel, and Tim Geithner ring a bell with you? Compare the crimes. I could also add Sheila Jackson Lee along with hundreds of other politicians to the list. You see DeLay with a R after his name and ignore far worse crimes from Democrats.

Unlike you, I think that any blackeye that my (which unfortunately Mr.Delay was at the time a part of ) government gets is anther chip off of the reputation the government that I took an oath to defend many years ago.

Yes, that would include Charles Rangel if he gets convicted for anything. So far I don’t see anything that he is accused of that could get him a life sentence, Do you?:2wave:

You do realize that all those corporate donors don't actually vote on bills in Congress and thus don't control how a politician who is responsible to his constituents votes? Tom DeLay was not in charge of the Senate, Newt was and DeLay was responsible for his vote to his contituents and was one of 435 in the House. You don't seem to understand how our govt. works.

:eek:t You'll stop at nothing to make every post about President Obama.

Why? What did he do that affected you, your family, or the country? "Your" President is doing a lot worse. Attorneys here claim the prosecution didn't make their case thus this will be overturned on appeal. In the overall scope of things, Obama is doing a lot worse than anything DeLay was accused of doing. The most "transparent" Administration in history hasn't been so transparent.

He added to the corrupt nature of American politics. That's enough that it should warrant outrage from both sides, at least from the reasonable people on both sides.

I pointed out how irrelevant this case is to you and the country, it is a local issue yet you and others who aren't familiar with the case just pile on because of your hatred for anyone with a R after their name. Tom DeLay got convincted in the most liberal country in what is a conservative state. This verdict will be overturned on appeal as the case was not proven according to local attornies.

agreed....

Re: Texas jury convicts Tom DeLay on money laundering charges

Geithner, Waters, Rangel, Van Jones and others what have they done to affect you and your family?

Geithner avoided paying taxes which impacts the revenue of the govt, Rangel did the same thing, Waters got special taxpayer funds for a bank that her husband was involved with, and Van Jones was a Communist with influence over this President and the policies Obama has implemented shows that influence. Rangel got censured, Geithner is still in his position, let's see what happens to Waters, and Van Jones is now working for Soros.

:eek:t You'll stop at nothing to make every post about President Obama.

That is because what Obama is doing affects us all, what DeLay was convicted of doing had a local affect and had no affect on your or anyone else outside of TX. DeLay was one of 435, Obama is making policy now and has tax cheat Geithner in charge of the Treasury.

And Delay was guilty of all the above except being a Communist which is not a crime.

none of these people are the topic of this thread.

Re: Texas jury convicts Tom DeLay on money laundering charges

Conservative is having a hell of a time defending a twice-convicted felon in two separate threads. Seems to me a good, kindhearted, mod would have a heart and combine the two threads. ;)

This is a local issue and not national in scope. Attornies in Houston claim that the prosecutiion didn't prove their case and thus this will be overturned on appeal. Wouldn't be surprised if a few of the people here weren't sitting on the jury acting on their own biases. Austin is one of the few bastions of liberalism in the state of TX and we saw evidence of that fact tonight. I have no problem convicting DeLay if he truly broke the law but there still is question of that based upon the testimony that was presented. Doubt that many people here know about that testimony since they don't live here and in fact probably didn't even know that a trial was going on.
