Some States Weigh Unthinkable Option: Ending Medicaid

Hah, really.

why is it so ridiculous and offensive to many for anyone to suggest that individuals should actually be the ones to care for theirselves?

Why is it so ridiculous and offensive to many for anyone to suggest that people don't deserve to go bankrupt or die simply for being too poor to afford care?

I have no problem with the government helping people who genuinely need it - but medicaid is like a government-backed insurance. It's not just assistance only for those who are ailing in their time of most need.

If states can't afford the high cost then they can't afford the high cost. What do you want them to do instead?

Government is the people.

You can thank those who game the system for this.

Medicaid is a combonation of both funds: state and federal funding. I have no problem with states backing out if they cannot uphold their end. However, the way the system is set up - if the states dont' pitch in then the government doesn't, either.

But the article doesn't discuss just dropping all coverage for people what so ever- they discuss coming up with their own program of assistance that's not tied in with the whims and desires of the federal government and it's bureaucracy.

What' wrong with them mulling over other options and perhaps divising a system of care that's more personalized for hte needs of individuals in their state and possibly more effective?
