Mystery Missile Launch Seen off Calif. Coast

Neither model rockets, nor fireworks have a large enough signature to show up on NORAD's scope.

Anything large enough to show up on NORAD's radar, definitely needs to be checked into.

It showed up on NORAD's radar?

Last I read I saw this and no mention of NORAD.

The FAA ran radar replays of a large area west of Los Angeles based on media reports of the possible missile launch at approximately 5 p.m. (PT) on Monday. The radar replays did not reveal any fast moving, unidentified targets in that area," said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.

No one knows who the hell fired it. 35 miles off shore means only one thing could have fired it, a sub. Who's we are yet to find out. Is it another nation letting us know that they can get close enough and have the means to attack our shores?

First, lets assess the damage, if any, before we go off half cocked... then speculate how, what, and who, and other possibilities like a radar goof, and other possibilities that may or may not ever be known.

Could it be a show of force and military might by our bumbling leader for some hairball reason? Or is it another nation letting us know that they can get close enough and have the means to attack our shores?

Oh! My!

Has someone been lighting farts again? :3oops:

I keep telling you Americans to stay away from the all chilli diets - just because your space program is stalled does not mean you should "go it alone"

Since when do asteroids or comments go up?

I am saying the thing could be like what their expert said about the optical Illusion thing. It makes it look like it was going up instead of going down. Its been known to happen with a lot of UFO pictures someone mistakes a glare on the lens for a flying object, or three dots up in the sky that turn out to be flares or airplanes in the sky. Or like how a UFO that might have been a balloon caused the military in La too shoot randomly in air for 43 minutes in 1942. However, I will admit that it seems to be a missal for now until we are proven wrong. I wonder if this will cut in too the president trip to India.

There, just another media over-exaggeration. Now we can all go back to sleep.

This ain't an inter-service turf-war dust-up. Nor is it an optical illusion. The TV News crew is more than capable of knowing which direction it was going, as in up or down, and documenting the approximate position this was fired from. Other videos will help to triangulate that location as they come forward. As for what it was, its becoming "who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes"?
I wouldn't be so sure. I've heard reports that poor intercommunication and turf wars are still going on. Remember this the government that wasn't suspicious about pilot trainees not interested in learning to land.

Testing the missile shield is not a show of force or a hairball reason. You cannot be suggesting that the US fired an ICBM just to show that we have them, right?

It's either missile shield, or aliens escaping and now we're gonna get busted for the space cash.

Or maybe North Korea!

Or maybe Jerry Brown, celebrating his win with some fireworks. Gotta love that crazy stoner.

I think you misuderstood. My post comments were directed at the statement by one government official saying he didn't know what "others'" were doing. With all the millions spend on homeland security you'd thing everybody would be in the loop.

Sorry but if it's from FOXNews I think I'll wait for a more credible source.

What? Knee jerk over hyped sensationalism over shoddily drawn conclusions and false assumptions based on minimal (or zero) evidence that is then picked up and parroted by others in the media? say it is not so, this never happens.

Yeah it happens were just laughing at the story. xd

Or maybe North Korea!

That is my money. Does anyone really think the government would let us know if North Korea managed to sneak a sub to within 35 miles of the coast and launch a missile capable of holding a tactical nuke?

It was a missile. No way was that a contrail.

Agreed, and with some of the close-ups, you can see the flame out the back of the rocket. With any jet, you only see that with fighters when they kick in the after-burners. I've seen dozens of launches from the Cape, and that was a rocket.

Looks like the stumblin bumblin Obama Administration does not know how to handle this one. Hoping it will just go away.

Its international waters. We cannot do anything without starting a war. We can mirror the sub if we know where it is and we cannot fire on it unless fired on.

A missile would ascend too quickly to have the tail end of its trail fanned out like that, it takes time for the wind to disperse it that far.

To give some perspective here.. the shuttle travels at roughly 25,000 feet per second to enter into a low earth orbit. Lets go with our unidentified missile/rocket as not being a low orbit launch and cut its speed heavily to 1/5 of that, so 5,000 feet per second (~mach 4.5 ). At that speed the object will have reached the upper limit of our stratosphere (~165,000 feet) in 30 seconds or so.. that is not much time at all for wind to work on the tail of the trail to cause it to be that dispersed

How they ever spotted the UFO in this picture is beyond me, but thank goodness it's been circled so we can find it no problemo.

Tonight at 10:00 PM PST at http://www.kfiam640.com/cc-common/widget/detail.html?wid=431 Coast to Coast I predict will have Richard C. Hogland live on the air creating some wild speculation we never thought of.

It will be a sign from out there or a special test of some super secret new weapon.

I doubt seriously that N. Korea would set on a story that would show their new nuclear abilities.

I also find it very curious that the Navy could have Launched it and not know it. If you fire a missile off of any ship, everyone on that ship is going to know it instantly without fail every time.

Damn, I almost forgot there for a minute, time to forget everything you've heard about what it is up to now, it's the Obama era, that can only mean, President George W. Bush did it. Game over.

I've seen a lot of vertical launches of jet fighters in my years as a weapons loader and I say it could be from a fighter jet.

Yep it's Obama's fault! :roll:Jeeze don't you people ever get off the partisan hack schtick? When you say crap like that you lose all credibility, not that you had much before.
