Student kicked off school bus

BRYANT, AR - A 14-year-old gets kicked off his school bus. Not at his bus stop, but six miles from home.

Tyler Garland boarded his bus, number 99, at Bryant High School. When kids started acting up in the back of the bus, Tyler says he changed seats. By the time the bus made it to Bryant Middle School, the driver ordered him off. Beverly Garland says Tyler had been asked by the driver to change seats, he didn't.

"My son sat for two hours not knowing how he was gonna get home," said Garland. "I just feel like the school has really let me down, and I don't feel safe with my children there."

Garland says she's especially concerned that she wasn't notified about the incident by the school.

When asked about the incident, Bryant Schools Superintendent Randy Rutherford said because there is an ongoing investigation, he can't say much at this time.

"Well first of all, right now it's an allegation, that's what it is," said Rutherford. "Until the investigation's done there's really nothing I can say at this point."

It's pending an investigation so I'm not really drawing an opinion, yet - the entire incident might not have actually happened. Or, it might have been a huge misunderstanding - not intentionally kicking the kid *off*

But the only thing I *see* initially wrong is that protocol wasnt' followed - there are steps involved in how to deal with troublesome kids, obviously those weren't adhered to.

That being said - I don't like how the article seems to suggest he was just abandoned in the middle of nowhere with no options. He wasn't - he was dropped off at the next school which could possibly have been a mistake on the drivers part or the students part.

But you know what - I only *wish* my kid's school bus got rid of the bad student like this - plaguing all the other good kids iwth their attitudes, stealing lunches and picking fights.

Oh sorry, no - I meant the following line after that: "plaguing all the other good kids iwth their attitudes, stealing lunches and picking fights." = 'bad student' (on my kid's bus - problems we've had with their bus driver *not* trying to intervene.

I should have re-read and rewritten that statement.
