Poll: Most US troops OK with gays in the military

And now just for fun:

No, I don't. I can absolutely see the issue with someone declaring their membership, and therefore their adherence, of the values and beliefs of a bigoted, racist organization. It is not good. And if they aren't completely dedicated to those values or beliefs, then there is no need for them to be a member of such an organization.

Being homosexual is not declaring biases or prejudices. It is doing exactly what heterosexuals are allowed to do now and has never been shown to cause harm to morale, discipline or unit cohesion. You show me some proof, and I'll change my position, otherwise you will have to just deal with what you see as hypocrisy. Eventhough it isn't. I have valid reasons for wanting certain people to not be able to serve. You don't.

So, you do support lifting the ban on memberships in extremist orgs? Am I following you correctly? I mean, you might as well go along with it. Those people are already serving, some with distinction. Timothy McVeigh served in the Army and was awarded the Bronze Star.

What about the ban on membership in the Communist party?

I'm just using your own logic. Doesn't seem to be working well for you.

No, I don't think we should lift that ban at all. It is not the same thing as being homosexual.

And, no you aren't following my logic at all. If you were, you would be comparing homosexuals to heterosexuals, as they should be compared, not to people who choose to be in organizations that espouse hate and prejudice. And it is easily argued that a racist can change his ideals for the betterment of himself, while it has been proven to be harmful to "change" someone's sexuality. Unless you want to show research where a racist changing his beliefs is somehow harmful to his mental state or society?

So, at the end of the day, it's not about constitutional rights? It's about an agenda and the Constitution is the most convenient tool to progress that agenda. Otherwise, the Constitution is just a goddamn piece of paper.
