Teleprompter to make its debut in Parliament when Obama speaks

It's easy to understand why Obamatrons get upset when folks bring up "The One We Have Been Waiting For's" dependence on what Mondale calls the "idiot boards". It is a reflection of what he has been exposed to be. Lacking.

And what could be worse than the comparison of Obama to Bush? What they believed (while chanting Yes We can) was unthinkable is a valid comparison. Bush was actually pretty good at stump speeches, and his weren't plagiarized!

Yes Obitrons, president's have used teleprompteurs, but we were told Obama was a brilliant man. The mostest brialliantist affirmative action president in the world, yet he cannot not give a speech extemporaneously... to little children? Or about his country? Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

King had a dream, and Obama had a "Gift". Had. Like all things Obama, it didn't take long to realize he's not what he was cracked up to be. But the Journolists did a good job covering his ass.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, in a book out next week, tells of congratulating freshman Sen. Obama on a phenomenal speech. Without a hint of conceit, Mr. Obama replied, "Harry, I have a gift."

I wonder if anyone in the Parliment will yell 'You Lie!'... it's not frowned upon there, you know :2rofll:

Actually it's on the "unparliamentary language" list. "The Honourable Member is misinformed" or "The Honourable Member is mistaken in his claim, or even "The Hon. Member is being economical with the truth..." is acceptable. An MP who oversteps the mark can be "named" by the speaker, and forced to leave the chamber for the day. Because they are a little behind the times, "**** you!" isn't on the list.

Fact: Every President has used a teleprompter.
Fact: There's no data to suggest Obama using it more than anyone else.
Fact: Those who suggest he does use it more have no data to back it up.

Unless someone can find or actually track themselves the number of times Obama speaks in public and of that number how many times he used and did not use a teleprompter, then compare that ratio to the same equation applied to at least several more Presidents to establish enough data points to declare a trend and an abnormal number on Obama's part, NO ONE has any argument.

All I see is a bunch of people who dislike the President and so they allow themselves to believe things which they have no factual data to support, something which they will do at the same time they accuse their opponents of believing things which they have no factual data to support. Its simple hypocrisy, and there's no way around it. Its a double standard where one gives his side an advantage of not actually having to back up its statements while demanding the support of his opponent's argument reach an extreme standard. I don't know if its laziness on their part, after all its easy to do no work to support your own argument and then demand and insane amount from your opponent, since you never have to admit you're wrong because your opponent didn't met you're impossible standards and therefore you just default to the position that you're right. Or maybe its just stupidity and you're incapable of actually living up to a reasonable standard of finding and researching support for your argument.

I wonder how they say 'Your momma' in Parliment?

I think no one wants to admit it, but I think our President has a reading impairment. He cannot make a speech with written notes like most people. He's looking more and more pitiful every day. It's sad to watch America become weaker right before our eyes.

The ability to read is a vital aspect of teleprompter use, hence GWB.

I have held elected office, been in debates, made speeches, help press conferences, been on TV, and I never even used notes let alone an idiot board, Teleprompter.

Obama is so lacking mental acuity he used one a place you won't even find video of President Bush using one, andi know because I looked.
Hell even the Obama supporting Huffington post carried the story and posted the video of this "brainiac" setting a poor example in front of a group of Elementary School children. Way to go dumb ass.

Not EVERY President - IKE was the first and Ike wasn't the first POTUS of the US.

That said, the last time I believe an American President addressed British Parliament - it was Ronald Reagan (though I could be wrong), and it just so happens Reagan used teleprompters.

That said, would I have my drothers, I'd like American Presidents to not use teleprompters so much and I surely would like to see them have a Q&A with Congress a la Parliament's Q&A with the Prime Minister. I hate the teleprompter - it turns our President into a news anchor reading the news aloud.

Actually the story was that he used the teleprompter to address reporters at the event, not the actual children.

What the Obama School Teleprompter Photos Really Show

And to Ockham, yes that was the point I was trying to get across that every President from George Washington to the present has used teleprompters.

Back then they didn't call them teleprompters though... it was this giant wooden squirrel with a long scroll tacked to it with really big writing that was rolled into the middle of the muddy streets.

Well, the "nitpick" is in how many hail the Presidents speaking ability. On the prompter, he's competent, off it, not so much.. That's all, really.

Tim-

Bull****. He didn't use a teleprompter in the debates and nor does he during Q & A with audience members. He's quite eloquent in many speaking situations where a teleprompter is not used. You're just so blinded by your partisanship you refuse to see it. It just amazes me how you people expect us to believe a Harvard Law grad Magna cum laude and head of the Law Review, and college professor is a dunce.

Bush on the other hand still flubbed when he WAS using a teleprompter. Off the teleprompter they didn't call them don't call them Bushisms for nothing.

And don't forget the deer in the headlights look where he was frozen in the elementary classroom after the twin towers were hit. Of course we now know Cheney had to take over.

Oh your god! I can’t believe this man has the audacity to use a teleprompter!!!! IS NOTHING SACRED??? WHY HASN’T THIS MAN BEEN IMPEACHED AND THROWN IN JAIL?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Every single time a president gives a prepared speech they use a teleprompter. Every time.
That's kind of the point. That was Mondale's point. Obama doesn't speak to the nation, he reads prepared remarks.

Don't tease. It's not nice.

I'm pretty sure I never heard Bush go as far as to thank himself and then have to be interrupted by a foreign dignitary before realizing he was reading someone else's speech.

And the point being --- all Presidents should do a little cutting back.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that was the point, seeing as how people are using it as a way to attack Obama's intelligence...

such a small target... it can barely defend itself. They should be ashamed of attacking such a defenseless creature.

You're proud to talk like that? Such maturity and reasonableness, glad to see the spirit of the great American debate has reached such levels.

Every president does this ALL THE TIME.

Once again you are wrong. While it is true that since they came along all Presidents have used teleprompters but Obama is the only one to have to have one or he can't speak in public without looking the complete dolt he has proven he is.

My God he had to have one to talk to children at an elementary School.

I can't imagine President Reagan needing one to talk with children.

Obama uses them as a crutch because he is far less intelligent than his blind worshipers have claimed, and they know it but can't openly admit it because it would reveal that they have been fooled by a fool.

It's always hard to admit mistakes, and this one is so egregious it makes it even more difficult to come clean about the mistake.

So many people fell for the massively outrageous Liberal Leftist's demonetization of President Bush they fell for the lies of the king of all teleprompters not because he was who they were told he was but because they were so brainwashed they would fall for any story that came along with empty promises from anyone, and here is a Black man who seems to fill the bill.

But alas the realization they were duped by a stuttering stammering idiot is so devastating they cannot face the reality.

Too bad for you but you made this mess and now we have to clean it up. First in Nov. and next in 2012.

Newsflash: Everyone makes mistakes including brilliant people. But if you really think Bush was better at public speaking then Obama, I'm sure you wouldn't mind giving your bank account number to those countless email scammers that want to deposit money in it for you.

Duuuuuuh! :lamo

We already showed that Obama didn't use the teleprompters to talk to the children with both photos and video, how can you claim otherwise now?

Maybe it's because his limited speaking skills are sufficient only for children...
