1 Ohio school, 4 bullied teens dead at own hand

Your right. Like no one can argue that there aren't a helluvalotta lawyers, doctors, executives, politicians, managers, business owners, in this country that have no business being any of those.

Generic. Generic. Generic.

But, we're not talking about lawyers, doctors, executives, politicians, managers, or business owners in this thread. Are we?

It's intellectually dishonest to insinuate that it's ok to have dicked up teachers, because there are dicked up people in every other profession, too. Especially, since you just said that I'm, "driving you ****ing crazy", and that I should, "start making since anytime, now".

Perhaps if we didn't have so many crappy teachers, we wouldn't have so many crappy people in every other profession.

So your plan must be to reform the educational system to make sure it is more efficient? Perhaps we can give them some motivation with things like performance related inflation adjusted raises and benefits like people in the private sector demand (but oft never get, which is Obama's fault I'm sure you'd assume).

Sounds like it might cost money. Sounds like big government. Sounds like your finally coming over to our side!

I'm all for performance related raises and bennies, right after they're hit with the reality that substandard performance will just as quickly get them a pink slip and a spot in the unemployment line, just like people in the private sector.

Well, I never went to high school, but I can tell you there are bullies in adult life as well.
There are bullies in the workplace, bullies in social clubs and charitable organizations, bullies on internet forums, bullies in the drug and party scene.
I can't think of any place that's really bully-free.
Any time you get three or more people together, two of them are likely to gang up on the third. It's just human nature.

Girl-bullying is often less physical than boy-bullying. Often it involves little or no physical confrontation. I've heard it referred to as "whispering campaigns"; gossiping, humiliating the victim, destroying the victim's credibility and social status.
This does not end after high school.

If I could go back and say something to any one of these dead girls, it would be this:

If you don't do something to change this situation, you'll be dead by this time next week.
So do something. Anything.
Rip off your clothes and walk down the school hallway naked.
Take the fire extinguisher off the wall and bash the lead bully's face in with it.
Do something so insane that things will have to change forever.
Steal your mom's credit card, buy a bus ticket, and run away to Mexico.
There are no limits; nothing is too extreme, because the alternative is, you're about to be dead, and there's nothing more extreme or irreversible than that.
So you are free to do anything you can dream of.
Isn't that a liberating thought?

Lol. You are really making a strong argument that because most (you sure make it seem like it anyway) teachers are bad at teaching, bullies pick on kids to the point they kill themselves.

The persistent notion that bullies are weak-minded and doing it to cover up their problems is outdated and proven to be inaccurate. . . continuing to pass that around will only confuse kids and fail to resolve the actual issues.

Bullies are cruel.
Both smart people and stupid people can be cruel; one can be cruel whether one has high self-esteem or nonexistent self esteem.
Anyone can be cruel; we all have it in us.

While picking up items for dinner i see this month issue of that rag called people.

Something about bullying. Then it dawned on me. This is one of those bull**** made up "epidemics" thu do from time to time.....

Would you say that in the face of the parents of the children that kill themselves due to being bullied? :(

It is really and it is getting worse. We must put a stop to it.

It really isnt getting worse. We're just hearing and caring more about it.

Yeah; it's always been pretty bad, actually.
The news media plays up (or sometimes creates) various socio-cultural trends, in the interest of selling papers or getting ratings; in this case, they've chosen to highlight a ubiquitous and ever-present social phenomenon- bullying- and act as if they'd just discovered it, or as if it's suddenly escalated beyond all reason.
I think the highly-publicized Phoebe Prince case was the catalyst this time.

I agree that bullying has not suddenly gotten a lot worse; I do not think, however, that it hurts to focus the nation's attention on such a serious problem once every few years.
If the media has to imply it's gotten worse in order to capture the public's attention and interest, so be it.
People need to consider the problem.
They can't go around fretting about it 24/7, but it doesn't hurt, every once in awhile, to remind them that it's still there, and it's neither going away nor getting any better.

Best come back ever for an animated series.....

Family Guy:

"Family Guy: Barely Legal (#5.8)" (2006)
Connie D'Amico: You know, Meg, there's no dogs allowed here so you're gonna have to leave, but Brian can stay.

Brian Griffin: You know, Connie, I think I have a theory about why you're such a bitch.

Connie D'Amico: Excuse me?

Meg Griffin: Brian let's just go.

Brian Griffin: No, no, no hang on, hang on. You see Connie, you're popular because you developed early and started giving handjobs when you were twelve and now you can't stand to look at yourself in the mirror because all you see is a whore. So you pick on Meg to avoid the inevitable realization that once your body is used up by age 19 you're going to be a worn out, chalky skinned burlap sack that even your step dad won't want. How's that? Am I in the ballpark?

If its relevancy came up, sure.

Show me with statistical links, not media hysteria.
