"The outside group spending is primarily being driven by the political climate," said Anthony Corrado, a professor of government at Colby College who studies campaign finance. "Organized groups are looking at great opportunity, and therefore there's great interest to spend money to influence the election. You've got the possibility of a change in the control of Congress."

Me no likey.

I would like to see the Federal Elections run under the same Laws under which I was required to adhere to in Arizona while running for office.

That law said in part that if you spend under X amount of money no reporting at all is required you just have to declare that you only spent that amount or less and if ask be able to prove it.

However if you spend over amount X you must detail each source of all funding regardless of the amount of each donation specifically and must also provide copies of all receipts detailing for what the money was spent.

It keeps people honest and shows donors where their money went, and it works.

One other point. In some cases you really can buy an election.

I don't know if it is going to work in the Granola State for Meg Whitman, but I have seen it happen time and again.

It even works for sorry excuses for humans.
