this kid was probably already on the verge of suicidal. I find it hard to believe that this one instance would be enough to cause an otherwise rational person decide to commit suicide. Not saying that what these two did was right, just saying that this gay dude already had some serious issues and this incident was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.

it might have been, but that in no way mitigates what those little pukes did.

FWIW, the responses prior to him jumping were about as good as anything you could ever find on the internet. Everyone was helpful, offering support, and understanding of his situation. There's not many places on the internet where you'll get a response like that.

I don't get where it was "just kissing". Why was said roommate's Tweet ""Roommate asked for the room till midnight. I went into Molly's room and turned on my webcam. I saw him making out with a dude. Yay."

Kissing and making out are not one and the same.

I would think that if it were more than kissing, he would've said "I saw him blowing a dude" or "getting blown by a dude", etc

This gay dude has a name. And he was a complex, intelligent, talented young man. Not just gay, and a suicide.

And again: Those are not the only options. If people are doing it right, there's a great deal of ground to cover between kissing and penetration. Only complete idiots go straight from a kiss to "How can I love you if you won't bend over."

point being, if they were doing something other than kissing, they dude recording would more than likely have been more specific in his statement.

I don't think they should get any jail time, or minimal at most. There was no intent to harm, they were playing a prank that backfired. The dude committed suicide, they maybe should have been more aware of his mental state; perhaps he was good at masking it. Who knows? Not us. They can maybe get "illegal videotaping", but one of the pranksters was the roommate so I don't even know if something like that could stick. Surely you're allowed to record in your own room. But these kids most likely are going to feel horrible for the rest of their lives, it didn't seem like they intended harm.

would this be an issue if not for the "gay" angle? perhaps we should charge society in general for stigmatizing gays. the shame engendered by the negative stereotypes associated with being gay had much more to do with this guy's suicide than did this video braodcast.

my point is generally you just don't suddenly become suicidal. he was probably suicidal before this incident and it just pushed him over the edge. Without any evidence of intent, it is hard to blame these two students for his death.

If you shoot 4 holes into a boat. which bullet caused the boat to sink...the first or the fourth?
