'Don't ask, don't tell' repeal in doubt

LOL, somehow I don't think this was an issue for Hannibal, Patton, or the Spartans.

I know there's plenty of "awareness" here, as message boards are like narcotics for the liberal and gay community. But I know that it isn't the prevalent topic in the barracks of Fort Anywhere right now. Islamic extremists planting themselves within the ranks, and their inability to do anything about it.....now that's another story.

I think you would be highly surprised to find out then that Islamic extremists are not the only thing, or probably even the most often talked about thing that military members discuss. In fact, there are even some in the military who sympathize with Islamic terrorists, but they still do their jobs. And most have plenty of other things to talk about, including gay rights, in and out of the military. Some are for, others against, and either side can be vocal. This goes for active and reservists. My husband told me about a conversation about gays in the military he had with someone yesterday. I had one two weeks ago at my DWE. Most people try to avoid talking about politics in the military because they are concerned that they may offend someone on either side no matter which side of an issue they are on. I have, in the past, had many conversations with my fellow sailors about gays in the military. Many of the people I worked with on active duty had no problem with gays serving openly, especially if it meant more people to stand watches and make our lives easier.

!!!Bingo!!!

Oh bull****. I'm sure that it's just your concern for their equal protection under the law that makes you support DADT. Yes, I totally believe you that you're against repeal because it simply doesn't go far enough. Do you really think that this ruse is fooling anyone?

I've advocated lifting the ban on gays. You haven't. I believe the reason that you haven't, is because you're not familiar enough with the system to know better.

obnoxious obama couldn't even fill the 650 seats in the roosevelt ballroom, even at the firestorm price of $100 an appearance, subsequently slashed to 50 bucks

this, despite emailing PROFESSIONAL LEFTISTS like ms sheehy at the DAILYBEAST, practically begging her, FOUR TIMES

those 200 empty seats, like the gay protestors who heckled the harrassed honcho for the better part of the hour, speak volumes

so did the courageous cfo at the georgetown townhall who lamented, "I'M EXHAUSTED FROM DEFENDING YOU"

aren't YOU?

axelrod IS politics, he's no economist, he's no wonk

when will HILLARY make her move?

this white house is completely clueless

it's on record for RAISING TAXES on SMALL BIZ which it AINT NEVER gonna get

it pockets prodigious political pain with NOTHING TO SHOW

out t'other side its mis-messaged mouth, it touts AID to the nfib's in the form of LOANS for which you must apply, fill out paper, go thru bureaucracy, satisfy requisites...

the entire conception is convoluted

the only constant is the govt middle man

max baucus, the GATEKEEPER, indicated today there's NOT ENOUGH TIME to do the bush cuts

but just THE DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY reid was in his all fired, ready hurry to PUSH his dadt to NOWHERE

Yo, the prof, can I ask what it is you think you are doing?

It looks something like this...

Seems a little more difficult to be proud of being American every day.

Which one is the wife beater? Which one is white? Which one is black? Which one cheated on their taxes? Which one does community service? Which one is the bus driver?

That picture couldn't be more vague or poorly thought out. Just because the "gay one" dies it doesn't mean that the identity you chose to identify him or her with is worthy of any more consideration than any other.

You just proved my point and the point of the cartoon. It doesn't matter! And yet we have a law that says it does.

Being gay doesn't hurt anyone, so why should it even be a factor?

As long as they do their job then that is all that matters.

tell it to harry reid's senate

tell it to barack hussein's doj

How about to Bill Clinton who signed it?

Do you really think you can make a partisan issue of something that was originally a compromise between the parties?

The fact of the matter is that this is an embarrassment to this COUNTRY!

The United States of America has made such an issue out of a nonissue that it is a great humiliation to see this continued to be enforced.

Keep it up Prof. While nations all over the world have no problem integrating openly gay soldiers, we continue to hurt our military readiness and capabilities by continuing this policy. That is really something you should be proud of on all fronts.

fine by me

Do you really think you can make a partisan issue about of something that was originally a compromise between the parties?

aint making squat, merely linking (ie, observing)

The fact of the matter is that this is an embarrassment to this COUNTRY!

i'm not in the least embarrassed

the gay movement is FURIOUS at this administration for playing em, using em, stringing em along, abandoning em and betraying em

again, that aint me, it's all in the links

Keep it up Prof

i will, thanks

it's not worth much

either way, it's probably better spent on those aggrieved

ieither way, it's probably better spent on those aggrieved

This entire country also now has my pity.

I think we all deserve the best military we can get, and it's sad that people put politics ahead of that right.

I think this woman won her case today:

What gay stigma in ranks?

Opening arguments began Monday in former Maj. Margaret Witt's challenge of her discharge from the Air Force because of her sexuality. Witt, a lesbian, who was a highly regarded military nurse, is suing to be reinstated.

TACOMA — In his years of service at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, retired Master Sgt. James Schaffer testified in federal court on Monday, gay and lesbian members of his Air Force Reserve unit bore no stigma.

So in 2004, he was stunned to learn of an Air Force decision to suspend one member of his unit, Maj. Margaret Witt, for homosexual conduct that violated the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

"I felt it was a dishonorable act on the part of the Air Force," Schaffer testified Monday as the leadoff witness in a U.S. District Court trial to determine whether Witt, who was eventually forced into retirement, should be reinstated with the 446th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron.

She shouldn''t have to win anything. She was highly decorated and did her job well. The military made an issue out of her sexual orientation. It's another case of how ridiculous this is.

She won the case and rightfully so. I posted the story in braking news.

I wonder how much this cost me as a tax payer because of homophobes?

Yes, I have been at sea 90 strait days.

Yes, I have showered undressed and slept with 100 people in shipboard berthing(it was 3 high).

Yes, I am a bleeding heart liberal.

Yes, those are not mutually exclusive.

Yes, I can talk to the issues, as can any one else here. Trying to silence people who disagree with bogus "you don't understand" crap is low.

My comments about this subject are about gay men in the Navy aboard ship.........I don't know what goes on aboard ship in the female quarters and could care less......I believe a lot of women are switch hit anyhow.............

should have and shouldn't have are the realm of plato

the philosopher was effete

of course, one must follow one's own lights

in other words, to each is own

it is what it is, however, must always trump

I really don't care what haappens in the case but I bet you that the Gov. appeals..........

It won't matter if she does.....eventually Freedom and justice with prevail in the United States against bigotry and injustice.

America is the land of freedom and opportunity and those who oppose it will utimately be defeated as always.

Because a highly decorated nurse who has treated the wounded off the battlefield is a grave threat to unit cohesion and military readiness? Yup, I can see how you could justify spending tax dollars to appeal that decision. Do you ever get tired of yourself?
