'Don't ask, don't tell' repeal in doubt

Isnt homosexuality supposed to be 'natural'? How do you practice it?

It occurs in nature therefore it is natural. If you want to argue a telelogical deifnition of natural, then I suggest you use the word "design".

The whole point of DADT was that the military was not suppose to go out of its way to investigate whether or not you are gay. That is the whole, "Don't Ask" part. The military has failed to follow up on its end of the deal considering that vindictive soldiers outing people as gay, people seeing a same sex marriage certificate through a window, and searching private e-mails has become the standard by which the military can kick people out.

And, you know that, how?? Because of your personal military experience, or the reports by Left Wing state media?

The Obama Presidency. Minute by Minute | POLITICO 44

OBAMA HECKLED: NEW YORK – President Barack Obama was heckled multiple times during his speech at a Democratic fundraiser in one of the country’s most Democratic cities.

They held signs and interrupted his speech to protest AIDS funding and the stalled repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” the policy banning gays for serving openly in the military that he has promised to repeal.

Obama showed a flash of irritation after he was forced repeatedly off his prepared remarks. “This is not the time or the place to do what you’re talking about,” he said to the “young lady” shouting at him about AIDS funding.

He also tried to make the most of the moment by pointing out that Republicans would be further away from the protesters on both of the issues they were complaining about.

can you blame em for feeling strung along?

barack hussein obama has NO understanding of american politics, half the contributors to this thread play the game better

sorry

Ahh, I take it you saw that video clip of McCain in filliblustering denile when the facts were slapping him the face.....

Barack Obama heckled in Manhattan - Carol E. Lee - POLITICO.com

NEW YORK – President Barack Obama was heckled multiple times during his speech at a Democratic fundraiser in one of the country’s most Democratic cities.

Demonstrators held signs that said “Broken Promises” and interrupted his speech to protest AIDS funding and the stalled repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” the policy banning gays from serving openly in the military that Obama has promised to lift.

Obama showed a flash of irritation after he was forced repeatedly off his prepared remarks. “We listened to you, we heard your point,” he told the “young lady” who continued shouting at him about AIDS funding. “This is not the time or the place to do what you’re talking about.”

The president pointed out that this week Senate Republicans blocked Democrats’ attempt to begin debating a bill that would have moved toward repealing the policy.

“And as a consequence some of those signs should be going up at the other folks’ event. Folks should be hollering at the other folks’ event,” he said, “because the choice in November could not be clearer.”

The heckling inside the ballroom at the Roosevelt Hotel began almost immediately at the start of Obama’s speech, when a woman began shouting, "President Obama, President Obama" and several men held up signs, including “No retreat, fund AIDS.” The woman eventually stopped shouting, but the men continued to hold up their signs, printed out on letter-sized sheets of paper.

“We need your energy and enthusiasm,” he told the 550 donors who had paid $100 to hear him speak.

Rep. Charlie Rangel, who has tangled publicly with Obama over Rangel’s ethics woes, was in the audience.

Obama singled him out by name first as he praised New York’s “unbelievable delegation.”

still not embarrassed?

just what will it take?

And, you know that, how?? Because of your personal military experience, or the reports by Left Wing state media?

Because of a federal court case.

Some other interesting things that came to light as a result of the federal judge's ruling...

1. The military would still deploy personnel that were known to be gay. If or when those troops returned from deployment the military would then begin prosecution. Pretty stupid thing to delay discharge if your logic is that openly gay soldiers hurt unit cohesion.

2. Most open showers have a solitary shower that a soldier can choose to use.

3. Most barracks have the same design as your standard college dorm room. Somehow college students manage to room with gay roommates without throwing too much of a hissy fit.

Does this mean that the reactionaries are mounting a rearguard action?

And, that court case would be? Care to provide a link that supports any of the crap you just posted?? I'm bettin' you don't.

In 12 years? I never saw that. Care to prove it?

So, that proves your lie about the private showers in the barracks?

Is this the best you can do?

Please, tell us, that you have more to offer than this.

Um...yes. It proves what I stated. What? Couldn't be bothered to read? I'll give ya a hint. Second link.

A couple excerpts...

LCR also produced evidence demonstrating that Defendants routinely delayed the discharge of servicemembers suspected of violating the Act's provisions until after they had completed their overseas deployments. In other words, if Defendants began an investigation of a servicemember suspected of violating the Act, the investigation would be suspended if the subject received deployment orders; not until he or she returned from combat – assuming this occurred, of course – would the investigation be completed and the servicemember discharged if found to have violated the Act.

Professor Aaron Belkin confirmed this evidence in his testimony; his research into military architecture revealed that apart from basic training sites and service academies where there are open showers, servicemembers usually have access to single stall showers. (Trial Tr. 617:21-619:1, July 15, 2010.) According to Professor Belkin, "the army, in recent years, has implemented something called the one-plus-one barracks design standard.

Oh, wait! The Article mistakenly confused DADT, with the defense directive that bans gays from serving in the military, openly, or otherwise.

Too bad, so sad. Obviously, the facts aren't in your favor.

This whole shower thing is simply rediculous. SOme barracks have stalls, some barracks have open bays, I haven't seen barracks that have both. That being said, there are no barracks that have males and females sharing showers, regardless of the configuration; hence, gays and straights can't be forced to share billets; per the commandant of the Marine Corps.

It failed boys and girls (if it still okay to call people by those term) get over it and move on. Unless your a gay person in the Military and in that case just shut up and do you job and keep you thoughts, proclivities and your hands to yourself and you'll be fine.

But then there is that Judges ruling and we have to wait to see what the Supreme Court finally Rules.

In the mean time we are not going to have any affect on the question and I don't care on a personal level.

You mean all this furious and heated posting on DADT isn't going to change anything? NO WAI!

I told you DD I will not respond to your personal attacks anymore...I am debating the people here that have a point to make and I don't have time for your nonsense.............You can keep attacking but you won't get a response...............Have a nice evening.............

Funny....you call it "nonsense" and I basically just posted your own words from your previous thread.....LOL....you are correct Navy...your words are nonsense and made no point, other than to be another of a string of Navy Pride anti-gay hatred spewing.

Your approach to allowing gays to serve in the military, will only further inhibit their ability to do so. Keep thinking broad minded.

Oh bull****. I'm sure that it's just your concern for their equal protection under the law that makes you support DADT. Yes, I totally believe you that you're against repeal because it simply doesn't go far enough. Do you really think that this ruse is fooling anyone?

You conservatives should be happy and should be drumming up this topic everywhere. It has played perfectly into your hands. Obama and the Congressional Democrats waited until the last possible minute to try to pass this legislation and when it was clear it was going to fail, they had Reid try to make a political scene out of it. Only nobody was fooled and it backfired. Now gay rights advocates are hazing Obama at his own fundraisers and he has completely marginalized one of his most loyal voting blocks. It doesn't matter what we do now, this is the closest we will ever come to repealing this policy and now it will porbably take the better part of another decade before this policy is finally overturned. The worst part is that if it is overturned, it will be the courts that do it, when this is a policy that everyone wants to see overturned by Congress.

Obama ****ed this up. The only way we would have a dream of repealing this now is if the Pentagon review came back with glowing support for repeal. That is not likely to happen and it was irresponsible of the Democrats to ever allow such a review to take place to begin with. Obama played politics and lost and its the gay soldiers who are going to suffer the most.

Dude, it was fillibustered. They had 56 votes. What reality are you living in?

Haved you served? Have you spent 90 days straight at sea? have you showered undressed and slept with 100 people in racks 4 high the size of your living room? when you have done these things instead of being a bleeding heart liberal who this issue has no affect on at all come talk to me............

Yes, I have been at sea 90 strait days.

Yes, I have showered undressed and slept with 100 people in shipboard berthing(it was 3 high).

Yes, I am a bleeding heart liberal.

Yes, those are not mutually exclusive.

Yes, I can talk to the issues, as can any one else here. Trying to silence people who disagree with bogus "you don't understand" crap is low.

Yeah well, you don't count.

When I was on active duty, years ago, there was a gay dude (suspected) that lived in my barracks. "Sweet" Mike, was always the first guy in the showers in the morning and the last guy to leave. he would stand in the corner and watch whilst soaping himself. If he was in the barracks and anyone took a shower during the day/evening hours, Sweet Mike would find an excuse to knock on the door within seconds of you getting back from the shower.

I have no proof that Mike was gay, maybe he just liked to look at other dudes dicks. He was eventually kicked out, not for being gay, but for being a lousy soldier. failure to adapt to military lifestyle.

I realize that sweet Mike is atypical of the average gay dude in the military, but it still gave me the creeps.

Yes, he is atypical. Further, those like "Mike" still won't fit into the military well, and still will probably be discharged for the same reasons. Gays will still have to handle military culture, just as straits in the military do. Nothing in your post actually had anything to do with the actual issue of gays in the military.

And you know for a fact they were all truthful..............One thing you can't refute is gay men live expectancy is about 10 years less on average then straight men........

So you don't trust surveys, but think that whether or not to keep DADT should be based on a survey?

I guess that shoots down one liberal myth then. since there are more than 56 dems, there must be some dems that are raving, mouth foaming, homophobes...just like all the pubs.
