'Don't ask, don't tell' repeal in doubt

It was a friggin filibuster from the party of No....hardly a vote on the substantive issues involved.

Those amendments should not even be on the defense bill........Its all politics prior to the November elections..........The dems know that they are meat after Nov that is why they are pushing it now.............

Navy...you are so full of BS sometimes. You always say...."let the people decide".....unless 80% of the people are against what you want...and then its "let someone else decide"....

The troops will decide my left wing friend after the vote today.........You can't even get all the dems in the senate on board... ROTFLMAO..........

Since it is the new policy to let the troops decide things for themselves, I wonder what other things we can let them decide. Maybe whether or not we go to war. Maybe how long we are at war. Maybe whether or not the military can extend deployment. Since we are democratizing the military, there are just so many things the troops will have to ponder.

Re: Republicans block bill to lift military gay ban

I do love the dishonesty of the article. The Dem's have the majority... we don't have 56 votes...

You are reading the vote count backwards. 56 voted FOR it, not against it.

Try to follow here. He kept posting for 4 pages responding to countless attacks.

He had finally had enough after 4 pages and you berate him for leaving? I'd like to see you stay in that kind of a fight when you were on the other end.

Navy had to know that there would be replies from people who don't agree with him on the issue. Not agreeing with someone isn't necessarily an attack.

BTW, there is a report button if you feel you are being attacked. It's really that simple.

Again, why is it such a big deal that you "have to talk about it". This is the military, not Oprah. What importance is it to a soldier to walk around talking about what gender he likes to **** in his/her spare time?

The gay community isn't happy unless they're in your face with their sexuality all the time. Why else would you need a gay parade with men walking on their hands and knees with dog collars and leashes?

The general message is "nanny, nanny, boo-boo, I'm gay and you have to accept it, ha ha."

Hey, go ahead and bone all the ass you want. Just leave me alone about it, okay?

So wonderful to hear that you have so steadfastly refused to show any women any interest in public like you have. The fact that you have gotten to where you are without ever flirting with a woman, holding her hand, kissing her, referring to her fondly, commenting on sex in any way or otherwise showing any public display of your heterosexualty is most admirable.

You are completely misunderstanding the idea behind a Gay Pride Parade. Regardless, how are they personally bothering you or getting in your face about it? If you don't like it, don't attend.

One could easily use that same argument on the other side as well. We live in a heterosexually dominated culture. It's everywhere you look. Couples are holding hands, kissing, etc. Not to mention the fact that 90% of all movies, tv shows, books, etc. contain mostly, if not all, heterosexual couples. So really, one could argue that you are also shoving your lifestyle in their face.

Yeah, because heterosexual men NEVER offhandedly mention their wife or girlfriend.

Although I can't say for sure since I haven't read the language of the DADT repeal, I'm pretty sure there is nothing in there about soldiers on their hands and knees wearing leashes.

Do you think that heterosexual soldiers should be dismissed if they don't leave people alone about their sexuality? Should they be dismissed if they ever mention their wife or girlfriend, talk about sex with their military buddies, or publicly express any interest in any female?

and who knows -- tomorrow, it may be something else getting shoved in the face.

You don't know very many gay people do you?

Apparently he doesn't know any heterosexuals either. I can't go through a ****ing day without having heterosexuality shoved in my face. People all around holding hands, kissing. Folks I work with talking about their ****ing spouses. Why do they have to make a big deal about it? Why do they have to shove in my face that they like to **** the opposite gender? Some of them even have the audacity to have pictures of their heterosexual lovers on their ****ing desks.

I personally think the whole DADT debate is manufactured drama. If you think about it practically the policy protects gays and allows the military to avoid potential discipline and morale problems. As much as the zealots for gay rights want total acceptance now it can't be forced. This has to be necessarily a slow process. Hell, most places in our society are still unofficially don't ask don't tell. We kinda know but don't ask in a lot of cases.

Protects gays? LOL, yeah gays can go home to their partner with out fear of losing their career like heterosexuals can...that is some protection there

Check out the human anatomy and how it works. Study up on reproduction, and how sexuality between men and women play a role in it. Learn how we all got here.

Some things are natural, and make absolutely perfect sense. Crystal clear.

This thread is my perfect example. Gays want so badly, so incredibibly badly, to make their lifestyle just as typically "normal" and ho-hum as Mom, Dad, and the kids.

Again, I ask, why does your stilted sexuality have to be in everyone's face, especially that of a soldier carrying an AK-47 in the foxhole next to you. Or did you join the military for the social scene?

It's not. MY sexuality IS sexuality. It's the reason you and I are here. It's basically the intended singular function of the human body, just like any other creature walking the planet.

Gay sexuality is a novelty act. There's no other purpose for it other than getting their rocks off.

It's not.
Yes, it is. It's all over. Everywhere. I know that your military buds were aware if you had a spouse or sex buddy. Why do you have to flaunt that ****? Why do you have to shove it in everyone's face? why do you have to talk about it?

Because when something is perfectly natural, it's not in anyone's face. That picture of my wife on my desk isn't my "sex buddy". She's the mother of my children, the feminine counterbalance to my imperfect masculinity, the curator of my home, my sounding board. I have buddies, but there is no man that can be all that for me.

It's natural.

Look, I know that here, on this irrelevant message board, you can find tons of sympathizers to your point. Being gay is a virtual 24-hour cause to be discussed ad nauseum amongst each other until it seems as common as brushing your teeth.

Unfortunately, once you step our your front door into the normal world, it's as much the bizarre circus-like lifestyle it always was. Perfectly legal, and of no concern to me. But it's not normal. Never will be.

Why you gotta put her in my face? Why do you have to advertise your sexuality to everyone around you? Why can't you just keep it to your damn self?

That's not sexuality. I don't expect you to understand.

When you enlist you agree to fight your countries wars....You did not agree to shower and sleep with gays....huge difference......

Are saying people that enlist don't realize that gays are in military with DADT?

Actually you agreed to do whatever the **** your commanding officer tells you to do. And if you don't do it, then you can and should be dishonorably discharged.

P.S. There are already gays in the military, whether they're allowed to serve openly or not.
