Christine O'Donnell: 'I Dabbled in Witchcraft'

US federal government spending is equal to about 24% of the GDP of the US

Yes she used campaign funds to pay for rent. Or at least that is the charge. Which I believe is illegal in the US.

Her place was used as her campaign headquarters is my understanding so it may be legal.

Is our GDP still going to be 24% once HC kicks in?
I thought it was 40 right now?

I stopped reading after page 2, so forgive me if this has already been said. Who cares if someone dabbled in any other religion? I think those expressing shock or dismay have a lot to learn about tolerance themselves. First, witchcraft is not satanic nor is there blood involved, so I do believe she has no idea what kind of ceremony she attended. Again, who cares?

I said this on another board earlier. If Conservatives have any sense, someone will stand up and say, "Wiccan is a loving religion, and Wiccans are welcomed in our party."

I dont think was involved in the Wiccan type of Witchcraft, but the " lets call up some spirits using a spell type" done by young people goofing around

If O'Donnell could not live within her means and was a campaign funds welfare politician then she should not have run. The Tea Party should vet more thoroughly if they wish to be taken seriously. Well, not only vet but choose more wisely. I am sure O'Donnell isn't the only CCR out there.

During FY 2009, the federal government spent nearly $3.52 trillion on a budget or cash basis, up 18% versus FY2008 spend of $2.97 trillion. Primary expenditure categories (shown in the pie chart in the introduction above) include: Defense and Homeland Security ($782B or 23%), Social Security ($678B or 20%), and Medicare & Medicaid ($676B or 19%). Expenditures are classified as mandatory, with payments required by specific laws, or discretionary, with payment amounts renewed annually as part of the budget process
United States federal budget - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Given the US GDP is about $14 trillion or so, that would make the federal budget about 24-26% of GDP.

If you include all levels of government you might get to the 40% mark in the US (state, local and federal)

You wanted to know what I knew about her. I posted the important stuff, not the tabloid crap.

I guess you have a reading problem:

So O'Donnell dabled in witch craft for a while, so what....Obama was smoking Marijuana when he was at that age so who is weird now!!!!

I wouldn't judge her based of off her "odd" past but her political parties. I truly wouldn't care what she did behind closed doors as long as she got the job done, which I doubt.

Unlike the title of this thread, Coons wrote about his change of heart toward America's free market after his trip to Kenya changed him.
O'Donnell embraces Christianity now. Does Coons embrace the free market?
I think it depends upon how you define the term. If you are talking about Laissez faire capitalism, I assume at least I hope he doesn't support it. I would assume his thinking was more in line with Adam Smith author of The Wealth of Nations (1776)

Who names their child after a small lizard, anyway?

Newts are not lizards I believe but related to salamanders which are amphibians (related to frogs)

where the heck did that come from?

coons: the ideal of america as a beacon of freedom and justice is not based on reality, beliefs in free enterprise and the boundless opportunities to be had in america are largely untrue, he's described as distrustful of american power and willing to question the american notion of free enterprise...

Coons took 'bearded Marxist' turn - Alex Isenstadt - POLITICO.com

of course, he's just jesting

why, look at those PUNCHLINES

live with it, we won't let him forget

Believe Barb already did provide background on Coons in her Post #94.

(and her reading skills seem to be fine.....)

There is no way to make this look good. The act itself seems to be minor but to cancel two major appearances during or after this surfaced is really really stupid.

She probably shouldn't have accepted in the first place but to cancel in the wake of this is a horrible decision. It makes her look weak and without answers to her past.

Her only hope is to send the one message to voters. "If you want a rubber stamp to Obama's far left agenda and continue down the same path we've been on for 2 years, vote for the other guy. If you want someone to fight against this wave of a far left out of control spending and bring back fiscal responsibility vote for me"

Realistically it should be a non issue. I know that liberals and progressives would not care is someone dabbled in witchcraft when they were young. Christian conservatives on the other hand might have a different attitude on it.

It is an interesting tidbit though about her
