WASHINGTON — Thousands of Tea Party supporters marched to the foot of Capitol Hill on Sunday, declaring their determination to topple the Democratic majority in Congress on Election Day.

“If we do not succeed in November, all that once was good and great about this country could someday be gone,” warned Representative Mike Pence of Indiana, the chairman of the House Republican Conference. He added, “Let’s give them a November that they never forget.”

The Republican base is riled up, for sure, but is is really a Republican base? Many at the rally are also pissed at the GOP. It is my opinion that a few there showed their disgust of Bush by voting for Obama. It is also my opinion that those same few will show their disgust of Obama by voting Republican this year, and in 2012.

But what of the rally itself? This can be shown by the signs that were displayed, and what people were saying.

1) Said one member, "Not only should we be listened to, we should be shown deference". Whoa! Shown deference? That will never happen, but you will certainly be listened to. In order to get people to listen harder, which is something that could approach deference, you need to get the word out, and that takes work. Simply making demands won't cut it. But it looks like the sleeves are rolled up, and people are doing everything they can to convince others that the status quo is no longer acceptable. I support that.

2) Warning those who attended that "Republican elitists who see us only as a vote". I agree, and this is an excellent talking point. The Tea Party Express attempted to hijack the movement, and they failed. Being vigilant against other hijacking attempts will keep the Tea Party movement as it was intended, as a movement, not a group of political hacks. I support this too.

3) "An end to bailouts, once and for all". Hell yes. I'm with you on this. The banksters need to get off the government welfare tit, and earn their own way, just like the rest of us have to.

4) "An end to Marxist income taxes". A bit over the top, but I like it. After all, regular people are being taxed way too much, in order to support the government's addiction to spending. The government needs to be weaned, and fast.

5) "Uncle Sam wants you to speak English". I agree completely. In America, English is the official language, and those who don't speak it are doomed to spending the remainder of their lives with a leaf blower in their hands.

6) "Obama Creates Jobs at Ground Zero". Uncalled for. Obama may support the property rights of ALL Americans, Muslims included, but it is the City of New York, along with New York's private sector, that is creating the jobs NEAR, NOT AT, Ground Zero. Most New Yorkers don't have a problem with it. Everybody else should just butt out. It's none of your damn business.

7) "Don’t Tread on Me". Oh yea, that goes without saying. They should have been showing that flag during the Bush administration too, but a little late is better than never, just as long as they don't put that flag away in a drawer when the next Republican president is elected.

8) "We don’t want a Kenyan reject"

9) "By ballot or bullet"

These two show that there are, indeed, a few nutters in the Tea Party movement. But they don't represent the majority of them. Let those two find a home in the kicked out Tea Party Express.

10) "Government is in too much of our lives". And on that note, I will end my post without comment, considering how obvious this is.

Article is here.

Phew, that's quite a laundry list, Danarhea. But I would argue that many of those screeching for smaller government and less taxes are actually paid shills for corporate interests and that most of the anger at government is contrived by the very people who made a fortune off the government. This excert from the NYT article is proof enough of that....

" The event, organized by FreedomWorks, a libertarian advocacy group that has helped the Tea Party grow, was a repeat of a march on Washington that was a defining moment for the nascent movement a year ago. And it was intended as a political bookend to the religious revival that Glenn Beck called for at the Lincoln Memorial two weeks ago, drawing many of the same people...."

Who funds Freedom Works? The Koch brothers do. The contrived anger at government is no more a grass roots movement than the well paid oil and banking lobbyists are. Doesn't it seem like a contradiction that the people who are saying government is too big are the same people who want the government to spend more on tax cuts for the wealthy?

The American people say they want the government to stimulate the economy and to create jobs. But how is the government supposed to do that without spending? Isn't that kinda like the protest sign that said, "Keep government hands off my social security?" That alone suggests that someone is deliberately trying to confuse the American people with anti-government propaganda in order to get Americans to vote against their own best interests.

Well, it just so happens that "someone" is one of the wealthiest men in the world and is spending millions to destroy the country that helped to make him wealthy in the first place, just so he won't have to pay fair wages, protect the environment or pay taxes on his multi-billion a year profits that he makes off public land. Now how does that agenda benefit anyone who isn't Charles or David Koch?

The Koch Brothers for the right might hopefully counter balance a little of the George soros from the left.
You guys who keep bringing up the Koch brothers should be embarrassed as long as you have Soros funding your progressive projects.

You got beat down and thread banned the last time you trotted this ridiculous **** out. Do you really want to go down that road again?

I believe the Tea Party at it's core are indeed out to have our Constitution Restored and the law of the land supported without some Socialist/Marxist at the helm try to run the ship of State onto the rocks for his own ideological concerns.

I further believe that the core of this movement may be Republican , there are people of every Party are beginning to wake up to the danger we find ourselves in today. They, or we are very diverse group ethnically and it has nothing to do with hate or racism, except from the 5th column Lame Stream Media and the Leftist politicians who are running scared.

I support this movement 100%.

Google him and get back to me.
What's going to happen is Moot will vomit forth some articles about how mean and evil the Kochs are, make some wild, unsupported accusations, then get all pissy when we laugh at her ridiculous assertion that they are doing something remotely different than any other 527 in the country.

Get ready for an epic FAIL.

Google him and get back to me.
No thanks, this thread is about the phoney tea party movement. Feel free to start a new thread if you want to talk about Soros and then maybe I might get back to you. Or, maybe not.

I believe the tea party at it's core is out to destroy the Constitution and the protection of individual rights to favor corporate concerns. Those that believe it is a grass roots movement are being duped and their ideological concerns make them an easy target for the Koch's corporate interests who can afford to spend millions putting propaganda into their heads.

I further believe that the core of this so called movement is the John Birch Society because the tea party propaganda is exactly the same and that is why I oppose this fake tea party movement 100%.

You just can't prove it.

Sucks, don't it?

And I would argue that you don't really understand the sources you're citing if you think that's what your article says. Exactly how many of the millions of people who have attended these various events are being paid?

I think you may want to ask yourself why you want to believe such.

They're being paid? I didn't know that. Where do I sign up? LOL.

Depends on how much I would be paid - I have better (at least, IMO) things to do than stand around, shout slogans, and wave signs.

If I don't have to do those three things, and am allowed to bring books, food, beverages, and perhaps a handheld gaming device, then sure.

Hmmm, you're right, there were some tea partiers who weren't paid to be there. They must be the ones with the homemade signs. Although I must say, some of them look pretty darn professional and uh, not very original....

YouTube - TEA PARTY RACISM: What The Media Won't Show You About Teabagger Racism

So what exactly are they protesting? Obama's race? His birth certificate? His religion? What? Well according to Newt Gingrich now it's the ghost of Obama's father. So either American's have completely lost all sense of reality or there is something a lot more sinister behind the so called tea party movement. I'm guessing the later....

So you don't actually have a response to anything in my post and would prefer to just continue derailing with more off-topic blather. I see.

Hey I said you were right, they weren't all being paid. Other than that, I didn't really see you had a point to respond to. If I'm wrong then why don't you tell me again what it was?

Why pay them if they'll do the Koch's dirty work for free.....
FreedomWorks | Brainwashing 101

Oh, looky there, Steve Forbes is on Freedom Works board of directors. What a cozy little group of wealthy elitists. Well, that certainly explains why D'Souza's recent attack article in Forbes Magazine and Newt Gingrich's extremist comments have the same narrative as those nasty extremist Koch Bircher propaganda signs at the tea party rallies, doesn't it?

Wow, a sitting SCOTUS judge Clarence Thomas's wife, Ginny Thomas is a speaker for Freedom Works??? Clarence Thomas ruled in favor of "Citizens United", so now corporations can spend as much as they want to buy er uh influence our elections. What a small world....

YouTube - Video 4 - Ginny Thomas - DallasTeaParty.Org

Is the Supreme Court corrupt? It sure does look like it when they rule in favor of corporations to spend as much as they want to influence elections and then one those judges has a wife that founded an organization that accepts huge sums from corporations to influence elections......

•Virginia Thomas is Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' spouse.

•Virginia Thomas is on record as calling our current President a "tyrant" (see video at the top)

•Virginia Thomas is the President and Founder of Liberty Central, a conservative organization which lists FreedomWorks as a "friend of Liberty Central" and "Coalition Partner".

•At least two directors of Liberty Central have strong direct ties to Koch Industries.

•One director had direct input to the Bush administration with regard to the selection of John Roberts and his elevation to Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

•Liberty Central will directly benefit from the Citizens United ruling as a recipient (past, present or future) of undisclosed corporate donations.

•Justice Thomas supported the Citizens United decision.

Did you say something about vomiting, Coronodo? Cuz I think I really could after seeing Clarence Thomas's wife, Ginny Thomas take corporate funding for her activist organization that is affiliated with Freedom Works and Citizens United.

The point was that you haven't raised any coherent criticisms and are merely throwing things at the wall and hoping they sticks. Your next post is a perfect example of this.

This was discussed ad nauseum 6 months ago when it first came out.

It's much ado about nothing. If you want to discuss that further, take it to that thread rather than clogging up this one.

Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion but just so there's no misunderstanding these are the points of the topic I've addressed....

The Republican base is riled up, for sure, but is is really a Republican base? ....
No, it is not really the Republican base. It is a fake grassroots movement funded by billionaires who want to destroy the country.

But what of the rally itself? This can be shown by the signs that were displayed, and what people were saying.
I posted a youtube video showing the signs that were displayed at the tea rallies....

YouTube - TEA PARTY RACISM: What The Media Won't Show You About Teabagger Racism

...and what people were saying (ie: Newt Gingrich, Forbes Magazine, Ginny Thomas) They all have the same narrative as the Freedom Works tea partiers.

Rachel Maddow Show

1) Said one member, "Not only should we be listened to, we should be shown deference". Whoa! Shown deference? That will never happen, but you will certainly be listened to. In order to get people to listen harder, which is something that could approach deference, you need to get the word out, and that takes work. Simply making demands won't cut it. But it looks like the sleeves are rolled up, and people are doing everything they can to convince others that the status quo is no longer acceptable. I support that.
Do you support shout downs at townhall meetings? Because the shouters were trained by Freedom Works to disrupt the meetings so the healthcare bill couldn't be coherently explained to "regular people".

LOL And Dick Armey, Glenn Beck, and Sarah Palin aren't political hacks? Puuulease.

3) "An end to bailouts, once and for all". Hell yes. I'm with you on this. The banksters need to get off the government welfare tit, and earn their own way, just like the rest of us have to.
Well, yeah.

4) "An end to Marxist income taxes". A bit over the top, but I like it. After all, regular people are being taxed way too much, in order to support the government's addiction to spending. The government needs to be weaned, and fast.
Marxist? That's Bircher talk. A good portion of the stimulus bill were tax cuts for "regular people"....

5) "Uncle Sam wants you to speak English". I agree completely. In America, English is the official language, and those who don't speak it are doomed to spending the remainder of their lives with a leaf blower in their hands.
LOL. That would disqualify Palin and Bush and a lot of other Americans then wouldn't it? "is our children learning?" "Refudiate." Gubamint, libary, yutes,....

Agree. But then look at Newt Gingrich making it his business....

44 - Newt Gingrich compares 'Ground Zero mosque' backers to Nazis

Whoa, that sounds just like Bircher talk.

7) "Don’t Tread on Me". Oh yea, that goes without saying. They should have been showing that flag during the Bush administration too, but a little late is better than never, just as long as they don't put that flag away in a drawer when the next Republican president is elected.
The Koch's made billions when Bush was president so why would they fund a faux movement against the hand that fed them?

8) "We don’t want a Kenyan reject"

9) "By ballot or bullet"

These two show that there are, indeed, a few nutters in the Tea Party movement. But they don't represent the majority of them. Let those two find a home in the kicked out Tea Party Express.
And yet, the Tea Party Express were the "real" grassroots of the teaparty.

10) "Government is in too much of our lives". And on that note, I will end my post without comment, considering how obvious this is.

Article is here.
Actually it's not obvious at all because government isn't any bigger now than it was under Bush or Clinton or Reagan. The anti-government nonsense is contrived by Koch Birchers who got their piece of the American pie and now they don't want the middle class to have any.
