RightNetwork hopes for piece of audience that made Fox News, Limbaugh successful

NEW YORK — Actor Kelsey Grammer is an investor and public face supporting a new network that launched Wednesday with entertainment designed to appeal to political conservatives.

RightNetwork, whose first series, "Running," follows the fortunes of a couple of Tea Party-backed candidates for public office, is also trying a new model to establish itself. It is initially making programming available through video-on-demand services, the Internet and through mobile phones, bypassing the route of traditional TV networks with a spot on channel lineups.

We need more libertarian-esque talk shows. I hope that this network has more content like that. If it's more "Faux Snooze", then count me out

I saw some of the previews. One was for a standup comedy show thing that was just horrid. Like, it's the previews. You're supposed to showcase some talent, and you can't even get a clip where the audience is laughing at the jokes? Guy tells a joke, and you cut to the audience who barely even chuckles. Fire your editor.

Laughing and having fun is Anti-American... :2razz:

They could always pick up shows such as "World's strictest parents", "Wife Swap", "My Big Redneck Wedding". Well now that I think about it, don't we already have a right wing styled network called CMT???

We already have this. It's called "FOX".

I'm hoping not. I'm hoping he can do a great job, and show up Fox.

I don't typically find conservatives very funny, insightful or entertaining. So I'll pass on this one.

I don't find the most verbal of those on this board to be so - but Kelsey Grammar has always cracked me up in a major fashion, so who knows.

Unless Kelsey Grammar has changed drastically he is not what I would consider a social conservative.

Heavy drug user, divorced and remarried a hot young, big breasted blond.

Not what is typical of social conservative morals

Hmm that is exactly what social conservatives are...!!!

Plus man this must be a boring network.. no jokes, no sex, no violence, no swearing, no fun.. maybe they should call it ATBS... American Taliban Broadcasting Service

Yes, exactly, that network with that wonderous block of "conservative" shows The Simpsons, Family Guy, and by far the greatest conservative show ever, American Dad.

...good morning USA....

I prefer my politics be void of comedy - that's not why I read the newspaper, you know.
So I likely won't be watching for any news-need.

Nor do I like any 24/7 news sources - Fox or otherwise - I avoid them all.

I hold some conservative values (mostly financial issues, taxation - legal issues) but socially I'm quite liberal.

To top that - when it comes to actual entertainment I can't imagine what could amuse and entertain me without sex, violence, drugs and more sex. . .so that immediately tells me their attempt to appeal to me will be fruitless.

wow, that's quite an admission

to each his own, of course

party on!

If I'd been through the pain and losses he's been through, I would never have left the bottom of the bottle. Just read the paragraph under "personal background".

Are there no big-breasted blond christian women?

He recently ended his marriage to said woman and promptly hooked up with another - who is pregnant with his child.

What does ANY of that have to do with how he feels our government should perform?

Did just everybody blow right past the above?

Politics pretty much is comedy on its own, IMO.

Ick. Not to sound rude, but that sort of appeal-to-the-lowest-common-denominator stuff is a large part of why I don't watch television anymore.

Because we all know how much the Taliban hates violence

On-topic, though. I think it's good that FOX News has some competition (and yeah, this will probably be competing with FOX News). The fact that they hold something of a monopoly on their niche might have an ill effect on their quality, and part of why they do things that makes so many people hat them (the other part being that they do exactly what other news stations do, but on the other side of the spectrum).

The plan is for an ENTERTAINMENT network, not another news network

The FOX entertainment channel is far from being a social conservative network

Yes out of all the 5th column lame stream wacko news channels spouting the Socialist/Marxist views of the Amateur in Chief Obama and one with a reasonable point of view.

Did any of the Liberals and Liberals claiming to be Conservatives ever honoestly think why Fox kicks all the other news channels ratings in the ash can?

It's simple really, they have a better message that talks to more people than there are Lefties by 2 to 1.

This is not going to be a news channel either.

Would love it if someone would list all those "conservative" shows on Fox. Really would.

New hit program:

The Adventures and Misbehaviors of Queen Victoria - In the pilot episode, the Queen stumbles and, in the process, shows her ankle. More naughty hilarity ensues, when she utters the word "darn". Don't miss this show. It's a humdinger.... Oooh, I just said a dirty word.

If you knew me you'd know that me stating anything otherwise would be perposterous and profoundly untrue and rather silly :)
