Florida pastor calls off burning of Qurans

Did anyone else make note of the fact that The Muslim in Chief Obama said the Muslims have the right to Worship and to build their Mosque where ever they want, but over looked the part Where the red neck Pastor has the right to burn anything he wants under the same Constitution?

The trouble is both sides are wrong for not taking the other side views into account.

This whole story is out of control and being over blown. :damn

Here's what's being missed in this whole Quran burining discussion: Violence and threats of violence works. The last time this much controversy was created when flags, Christian bibles, etc... were burned? Never. Such a thing is a "who cares" moment. Why? Because Christians don't start bombing other country's who burn bibles or effigies of Jesus. The direct opposite is with Islam. The media and the White House are scared ****less that a whacko Pastor in Florida is going exercise his protected right to burn whatever he wants to burn for whatever reason he wants to burn it, because - they claim, it will endanger our troops. News flash: Our troops are already endangered.

Well, since they are already in danger why don't we issue out M16s and napalm to the enemy? I mean, **** the troop. Let's make his job as hard as we can since he is in danger anyway.

How weak and feeble of a nation we have become.

This part I agree with.

We burn Korans

We don't burn Korans

We burn Korans

What does that show? That he is nothing but an attention whore.

I'm actually curious what kind of event he planned, like how many Korans he was planning to burn and where he was going to get them. I'm sure he small church and his personal check book couldn't cover the cost of buying a few hundred Korans, needed for a good pile/bon-fire, maybe they called it off because they would be too embarrassed to burn only a couple books.

Way to cherry pick your arguments.

I don't know of many progressives that are calling for this guy to be shut down. In fact, just the opposite. Most progressives I know are saying "Why are we giving this nutjob any airtime....let him burn his Koran...the better approach is to show the world that we don't share the same views as this idiot".

MSNBC gets the credit for cherry picking...

Eyeblast.tv

However, you don't address the hypocrisy part.... Wonder why?

Exactly. Only use the Constitution when it serves a politicians political purpose.... when it doesn't... don't mention THAT.

Don't we do that already?

Doesn't matter. He will get his money back, and then some.

During the early 90's, I was in a band here in Houston called the Southern Boogie Band. We were a fixture at a club called Spurs. When Saddam invaded Kuwait, we came up with an idea to burn an Iraqi flag at the beginning of the third set, each night we played there. There was a lot of controversy, the club had a couple of bomb threats, there was even a death threat against us, but guess what else? We packed the place, and ended up in the news too. That act was actually one of the reasons I ended up doing studio work for the Houston Rockets. I had a name. LOL.

Now make no mistake about it - We supported Desert Storm, but don't think for a second that our burning of Iraqi flags at our gigs had anything to do with patriotism. It was all about the money and notoriety we ended up getting for burning them. I am honest enough to admit it. Let's see how honest the pastor is.

Florida pastor calls off burning of Qurans - CNN.com

I think this guy had every right to do what he was gonna do.

He didn't have to call it off, and before you start saying well... now the Imam should call off the Islamic Cultural Centre in New York. He shouldn't.

Both have the choice to say what they will, or will not do.

This individual has received way too much attention from the media. He is being given political power and sway that he does not deserve, to the point where his actions are affecting high level responses in the White House and from NYC where the community centre is being built.

The only thing this story has done has made me hate the mainstream media more than I already do. Their obsession with salaciousness has become an infectious disease. People need to stop focusing on whackjobs who are exercising their freedom of speech and they need to get back to real journalism.

Don't we do that already?

No. None of our enemies have ever fought us with our own weapons. Few have even involved NATO weapons. Soviet Bloc weapons are the weapon of choice in most countries because they are cheap, easily manufactured, and interchangeable. Those allies we do supply weapons to rarely come from our inventory and we have never had to face them.

During my time in Somalia and after 5 months of captured weapons cahes, we only came across one M16 and it was dated pre 1984 (M16A1).

Bam. Perfect post.

Good! Everybody else opposing seems to have been contemptuously ignored.

Force the buggers to face up to the groundswell, that's what I say. The medium by which this happens doesn't really matter now.

Whew. Then all the weapons and ammo identified here must be fake. That's a relief.

Troops are not going to be in anymore danger then they already are because of some bull**** book burning from some civs

Remember, the 10 members of a medical team (unarmed) that were shot and killed by militants as they were returning from providing eye treatment and other health care in remote villages in northern A-stan? The Taliban are butchers with no honor and kill without remorse to further their extremist goals.

And who are you? Somebody who holds more weight on opinions than General Patreaus or plenty of military members across the branches? Somebody who has a clue about the culture of our enemy? Somebody who trumps the cultural experts who study this enemy almost daily? You clearly don't understand this enemy. Our (my) enemy designs their behaviors around excuses. They recruit on excuses. Burning a bunch of Qur'ans on international television may bring joy to a bunch of backwood ignorant Christian hicks, but it will be yet another excuse for plenty to take up arms and join the fight against our troops who are seen as representing these book burners.

A simple cartoon ignited a storm across the world in protest and murder. We can blame the idiots within Islam for over reacting all we want, but in the end it was stupid civilians who provided the ammunition for others to die And for what? In the name of exercising a stupid "right" to aggravate our (my) enemy? My kind are targetted. Not the cartoonists. None of these cowardly book burners will have to face the enemy they enrage.

Death in war happens. They got caught by the enemy in a combat zone and paid the price. Paganistic Qur'an burning on U.S. soil is feul and will see great recruitment throughout the region just on that unnecessary fact. Such activity is forbidden inside the military, especially in these foreign lands, for a very specific reason. It is not only unproffessional and disrespectful to the wider core of our Muslim support, but it inflames an already pissed off enemy who seeks the next excuse to legitmize his "defense."

And make no mistake. It is as paganistic as any ancient ritual designed to display just how far the faithful will go to defend God or to condemn an enemy of God. These American ****s are no different from the 9/11 terrorists. They just haven't been pushed as far. You want a war with all of Islam? Start burning the Qur'an as a stupid excuse to celebrate pathetic unearned rights. Of course, my kind will do the dying for such trifle and unnecessary activities so what do the righteous safe at home in front of their religious camp fires care.

"**** the Troop."

What Pastor McBurnsalot is doing is going to result in more troop deaths.

Why don't you support the troops?

The Islamonuts need no excuse to attack the soldiers. They would have done it whether a book was burned or not.

I do support the troops, though I believe they would be better off deployed back home to deal with the gang shoot-outs and Islamic rioting here.

They could do with being paid well and given proper equipment which actually works too.

And who are you?

American! And proud of it! You?

Somebody who holds more weight on opinions than General Patreaus or plenty of military members across the branches?

So all Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Air Force think exactly the same as you? No said they had more knowledge than General Petreaus, that is a strawman argument.

Somebody who has a clue about the culture of our enemy?

More than I would like due to them starting this war.

Somebody who trumps the cultural experts who study this enemy almost daily?

Such as whom? Or is this like an Obama argument, just throw out a high percentage without naming any?

Our (my) enemy designs their behaviors around excuses.

And mine around the cowardice of appeasement.

They recruit on excuses.

And they force compliance through threat.

Burning a bunch of Qur'ans on international television may bring joy to a bunch of backwood ignorant Christian hicks, but it will be yet another excuse for plenty to take up arms and join the fight against our troops who are seen as representing these book burners.

Those 'backwoods ignorant Christian hicks' as you so kindly put it, are the Mom's, Dad's, brothers, sisters, friends, Husband's and Wives of those serving with you, and their right to burn the book should be what you are defending just as much as you are defending the Islamic world here. Your disdain for your fellow countrymen speaks volumes Sarge.

It is not only unproffessional and disrespectful to the wider core of our Muslim support, but it inflames an already pissed off enemy who seeks the next excuse to legitmize his "defense."

And what will be the silly excuse they use next week?

Death in war happens.

Yes.

They got caught by the enemy in a combat zone and paid the price.

That is a disgusting statement about people over there trying to do no more than help.

Paganistic Qur'an burning on U.S. soil is feul and will see great recruitment throughout the region just on that unnecessary fact.

Maybe you are in the wrong business if you are that scared.

Such activity is forbidden inside the military, especially in these foreign lands, for a very specific reason.

The Pastor is not a military chaplain as far as I know, so your observation means little.

It is not only unproffessional and disrespectful to the wider core of our Muslim support, but it inflames an already pissed off enemy who seeks the next excuse to legitmize his "defense."

And when is it that you see disrespect to the wider core of our relations? Hmmmm? Building a Mosque of Conquest, then issuing a threat when confronted in an interview? Does that get your Marine hackles up?

And make no mistake. It is as paganistic as any ancient ritual designed to display just how far the faithful will go to defend God or to condemn an enemy of God.

Do you believe in God?

These American ****s are no different from the 9/11 terrorists.

Really? You're offensive, and I would ask you to state why you would say such an untrue, inflammatory thing?

They just haven't been pushed as far.

So your sympathy's lay with Islam do they?

You want a war with all of Islam?

it is Muslims that waged war with the US in the name of Islam.

Start burning the Qur'an as a stupid excuse to celebrate pathetic unearned rights.

pathetic, and unearned rights? You are a poser. NOT ONE MARINE I KNOW would EVER show such disdain for the constitution as you do. So you have outed yourself, and just another internet wannabe.

Of course, my kind will do the dying for such trifle and unnecessary activities so what do the righteous safe at home in front of their religious camp fires care.

Nonsense, "Your kind" will pop open another bag of popcorn, and flip in a good war movie, and fantasize about being that which you can never be. A Marine.

Why don't we have a book burning contest. Koran vs Bible. Winner gets a pizza party. That way if asked, they weren't burning the book out of hate, they just wanted some pizza.

A great way to relieve some religious frustration.

A one hour ESPN Special?

ESPN Specials have to deal with either The King or Farve. No one else is allowed a special.

Building a church and burning books are not exactly the same thing. Your logic is slightly flawed.

The Islamonuts need no excuse to attack the soldiers. They would have done it whether a book was burned or not.

What you're not getting is that Pastor Mustache and his pyro squad becomes a symbol for firing up their fringe. That hateful ass is giving them a new talking point and a new face of the American infidel.

And, to mainstream muslims in/out of this country, he (and you) are making us all look like a bunch of bigots trying to purge our country of Islam.

I do support the troops, though I believe they would be better off deployed back home to deal with the gang shoot-outs and Islamic rioting here.

Gang shoot-outs and Islamic rioting here????

So, the special forces should be deployed in Chicago, and these imaginary Islamic riots are happening where exactly?

American! And proud of it! You?

How dare you? You are talking to a Master Sgt. who has been there. I have my differences with him too, from time to time, but I will never denigrate his service to our country. He IS a Marine and a damn good one too. You should be ashamed of yourself. How ****ing dare you?

Msgt - Thank you for your service.
