My thanks to your nephew, I had a nephew in the Marines, another that was in Army Intelligence, and another in the Air Force. The Marine saw some major action, the one in Army intelligence will tell you the story the media never will on the information that they found in Saddam's palaces.
My bet is that yes spending in the name of compassion justifies any tax increase even though it never solves an actual problem but it does give political power.

I can't help but ask if spending $50B to “put construction workers, welders, electricians back to work ... folks that have been unemployed for a long time” is not a compassionate act? Americans working to restore America.
