Afghans protest U.S. church's plans to torch Koran

I think they should retaliate by wiping their butts with Bible pages, and then scattering them around the church lawn.

Rules like that help keep a society in line....."Eat with one hand wipe your ass with another."

Look. you just won an argument against yourself in your own head, go flagellate in your yard or something :doh

I totally condone the murder of christians, guys.

Again..not what was said. Good lord (oops...good 'heck' dont want to be offensive. Its a simple correlation...If you are going to understand those poor muslims then you have to extend the same understanding to Christians. Who BTW...get 'upset' but I havent seen them behead muslim children to demonstrate that upset or allegiance to God.

I don't have much of a problem with blasting a koran and using the remains for toilet paper

Neither do I... or with the Bible... or the phone book.

But I would like to delve beyond the usual argument here, and discuss why it is ok, seemingly, for members of Islam to constantly desecrate things like the American Flag, and burn churches and bibles over there, while here it raises nary a story, but have one whacked church here threaten to burn a Koran, and all hell breaks loose in the press, and on the ground there.

Yeah, we really take the moral high road when we fight desecration with desecration.

I think even a child knows that two wrongs don't make a right.

I think some people like America to not back down on our principles and to show the same tolerance towards others in the world that we expect the rest of the world to show towards us.

Like not burning Bibles and flags to prove some inane 'point'? I totally agree. Like these assclowns in Florida...people that perform such acts are pathetic fools.

They find it particularly mind blowing that other sons of abraham would destroy a copy of God's word, hence, they could only be infidels.

Anyone who is not a follower and believer in Islam is naturally an Infidel.

All the word means is 'unbeliever'.

IMHO they can burn destroy any tome that proclaims any religious claptrap.

Apparently you have never heard of the Lord's Resistance Army in Uganda.

Admittedly...not. And after reading several sites about them it doesnt appear they go on their rampages in the name of their God or simply because someone has burned their holy book. Except for the name, I dont see any connection at all with the original group formed in...what...1961? Granted...Global Security does a pretty good work-up on them...but Im seeing a typical gang of murderous Ugandan thugs not uncommon in that whole region.

Nope...Im afraid the only common group of assclowns that go on inane violent sprees over something as stupid as a drawing of Muhammed with a grenade in his beard are those inane extremist Muslim sects...unless you are comparing the two groups...in which case I would applaud you for a VERY valid comparison.

Yeah, I mean why should America hold itself to higher standards than Saudi Arabia or Iran or North Korea!?

Oh for God's sake. There is absolutely NO comparison other than that of those that want to trash this country at every turn. I get so damned sick and tired of this relativism that goes on with liberals. If you as a liberal think America is so bad that it is to be compared unfairly as you have here, to the likes of N. Korea then I am surprised that you reside in such a nation. Where are your standards man?

This liberal guilt over being born in America, the freest nation on the face of the earth, and living the good life telling everyone they should give up what they sweated, and shed blood for, while at the same time giving nothing themselves has got to STOP!

As a liberal you don't like this country? Move to Venezuela. I hear they just gave out cards to start rationing food. That's right food rationing...In paradise. See how you like it there in your 400 sq. ft. on room apt, and doing what Hugo tells you to do.

N. Korea! Hurumph!

So you can pass off Christian terrorism as just "murderous thugs", but then go on to lump Muslims like Hakeem Olajuwon and Marmaduke Pickthall with Osama bin Laden (Muslim extremists). That makes you quite the hypocrite.

BBC News - DR Congo rebel massacre of hundreds is uncovered
The rebel leaders initially claimed to be fighting to install a theocracy in Uganda based on the Biblical Ten Commandments, but they now sow terror in Sudan and Central African Republic, as well as DR Congo.

Now should I act like you and say these people are just the average Christian? No, because that is illogical and false. They are not average. There is a reason they are called extremists, but you just choose to ignore it.

WHAT I SAID was that there doesnt appear anythign actually linking their actions to religous background. I also stated I have only read about 4-5 sites of information on them...so OBVIOUSLY I dont have as much information pocketed on them as you do so you can whip this obscure group out to deflect the pathetic and inhuman acts of muslim groups around the globe. Because...groups we hear about Christian groups committing these violent acts daily while Muslim groups NEVER...no...wait...sorry...backwards...

Yes...thsoe are some bad dudes. I'll even accept that this group of savages in Uganda are using religion...killing people and apparently according to you they use the name of God occasiionally and that makes them Christian.

Now...amongst people without bones in their noses...

Nope...its still your homies that kill people over something like a cartoon. Good lord...you must be SO proud...

Oh...and hey...\

as per YOUR article...I think that pretty much backs up what I said, doesnt it...that they bear no resemblence even to the original founders intent from back in 1961? That they ARENT killing in the name of Christianity but that they are nothing more than murderous thugs? Geez...doood....thats your own article!!!

Yeah, I mean why should America hold itself to higher standards than Saudi Arabia or Iran or North Korea!?

By golly...you are RIGHT. Indeed we should. Next time you read of someone burning a Bible you should point out what kind of assholes they are.

For the record...it HAS been affirmed...most people think these assclowns in Florida that are threatening to burn a Koran are scumbags...just like those that burn Bibles.

Im curious how you feel about the former...and the latter...

I'm willing to bet several Afghans have burnt a few bibles in their day. Granted I think the church is acting childish, that is actually the perfect word to sum up this whole dispute, they still have very right to burn what ever book they want.

They themselves say that are killing in the name of Christianity just like Muslim terrorists say they are killing in the name of Islam.

The difference is I do not associate the extremists with the vast majority who are not extremists. The actions of a tiny minority in no way represent the majority. That is ridiculous.

Let me open with this disclaimer. I do NOT condone what this church in Florida plans to do. I think it is intolerant, and inciting while American lives are in direct contact danger in the ME.

I don't condone their actions, but I'm 100% in support of their 1st Amendment right to do it.

Everyone else, that offends people, then hide behind the 1st Amendment, need to get a grip.

Burning of religious material is wrong regardless of who is doing it. What the evangelical nutjobs are doing is stooping to the level of ignorant peasants pushed into a frenzy by their a bit more educated religious leaders.

As for the American flag.. who cares, it is just a flag. American's wear US flag underwear and no one complains.. what is more a front.. burning a flag or taking a piss and fart on it?

Alotta folks out there--me included--have aid our lives on the line for that flag. Not the Bible, not the Koran, or any other religious text, but damn sure for that flag. One would think that based on that, people would show more respect to our national colors than to any religious text.

This goes along the same lines as depicting Mohammed in cartoons. To do so shows a borderline-childish disrespect for our fellow human beings. I don't condone burning the bible either... people who condemn burners of the Koran but are OK with burning the bible (and visa versa) are hypocrites. But now is as worse a time than ever for Americans to be insulting Muslims. I stand with Petraeus in believing this action will harm our efforts in the Middle East.

And the Koran is just a collection of paper. I mean, it isn't like it was penned by Mohammad himself.. not the original... and if it isn't in Arabic, it really isn't a big deal anyway... so, the flag is a piece of cloth, the Koran is a collection of paper.... and paper burns very well...

Wait, wait....Is satire punishable by death then?

Ok, that's a given

But now is as worse a time than ever for Americans to be insulting Muslims.

Why? Who dictates that? Muslims themselves? Who says they get to say when it's ok to offend, and when its not?

I really feel for the General. He has been placed in a no win situation in Afghanistan. He has a CIC that is apathetic to victory, and in some instances placates the enemy more than he leads the troops. And on the American front he has a population in which 50% seem to have given up on even fighting the war in the first place. I wouldn't want to be him.

And then when that leads to our own troops who are stationed over seas in the Middle East being attacked and targeted *more viciously* - it's still good, hmm?

I disapprove of these outward displays *SOLEY* based on the fact that we're actually dealing with emotional-immature people who will take their anger out on the nearest US citizen (military or otherwise) without a single moment of thought on the issue.

Things are starting to look like the religion war era in Europe . . . I thought we were suppose to me modern, advanced and more civilized?
