It sucks but that is how businesses work.
These CEO's are under contract and they get a specified pre contracted amount of pay.
Although I do think that poor performing CEO's should get the **** can with no compensation.

If you're a little worker bee on the ladder, buy company stock.
Put your money where your mouth is and have some more skin in the game, if you believe in your company.

Give it up liblady. You can't makes pigs fly and if you try it only makes them mad. Some on here are so partisan they skim the thread and move right to blaming Obama. Pretty sad.

You know what kills me? The same people that piss and moan about the bailouts are perfectly fine with CEO's getting bonuses even though their company did poorly due to the crap the CEO's were pulling, which lead to the bailout. Anyone else see something wrong with this logic?

Here's a study, enjoy the read.

So you want to force them to employ people?

That isn't what is being discussed here. What is being discussed here is why CEOs should be receiving bonuses when they are tanking the business. Why should CEOs be rewarded for lousy managing?

Maybe they shouldn't. If you think that way, you should buy shares in a company and vote accordingly. If you don't own shares in said company, then why should you get a say?

Well like you do, I comment on things I don't always have full control over. If you don't like what I have to say, feel free to ignore it or move on.

did you completely miss the point of my post, or are you just typically spouting talking points that mean nothing?

You're point was that it is wrong for people to make big money. We need to spread the wealth around.

When Obama succeeds in his agenda, we will all be equally poor, and things will be more fair. Economic justice and all that. We're not there yet, so the CEO's are still entitled to that money.

No one in business knows what's going to happen with taxes, crap and tax, or Heathcare. Until they know, lay offs will continue, and no one will expand their workforce.

Pure ignorance. The CEOs job is to make money for the shareholders. It isn't to provide a job for those stupid and lazy enough to be relegated to worker bee status.
So are you a CEO? You classify everyone under a CEO as Stupid and Lazy so I was just curious.

How's it not? The only time it appears fallable is when the dumbass government sticks their nose into it.

Really so you have never heard of a business going under as the result of bad decisions? (if not; google Blockbuster)

Seriously, get some reading comprehension skills. The point was that the CEOs are getting rewarded for running the company into the ground.

Ah yes, a typical idiotic and childish remark about Obama. I'm sure it's his fault too that these CEOs ran their businesses into the ground all these years.

No one in business knows what's going to happen with taxes, crap and tax, or Heathcare. Until they know, lay offs will continue, and no one will expand their workforce.

Yep because as we know, no businesses were doing this before Obama became president.

No, I didn't. I classify "stupid and lazy" as those who depend upon others to "make ends meet." This is America. The home of capital-freakin'-ism. Get out there and make your own money; quit making the CEOs money by working for them if you hate their bonuses so much. Damn.

Really so you have never heard of a business going under as the result of bad decisions? (if not; google Blockbuster)

That's part of business. Blockbuster was the old that was replaced with the new (Netflix, etc.) I think you misunderstood my point. The BUSINESS CYCLE is typically infallable. Poor businesses and CEOs always fail, unless the government bails them out. The best rises to the top; the best stay there; some stay longer than others; some go bankrupt; some merge; etc.

10 characters.

Im sorry, but I really hate this kind of statement because it seems to advance that there is a magical moneymaking machine and poor people are just too lazy to push the button.

Sure you did. and you just did again.
I don't disagree with your basic premise. We would all be better off if we worked as contract labor and just issued 1099s (or nothing). However I don't believe that working for a company makes the American worker stupid or lazy. Do you think that the scientists that work for Pfizer are stupid? How about the coal miners in WV are they lazy? Not everyone can run a company. Not everyone can lay bricks for 10 hours straight. I'd like to see one of those hard working CEOs do that.

Thanks for the clarification. BUSINESS CYCLE is completely different thatn PRIVATE BUSINESS.

The scientists at Pfizer are highly skilled and intelligent. Not everyone has the ability to do what they do. Anybody can do the jobs the class warfare folks b!tch about losing to outsourcing, etc.

I love the fact you left "smart" out of the equation. I'ver never met someone who was smart and hard-working who wasn't, at least, living comfortably. (2 story house, a couple of cars, pretty wife, maybe a kid or two, etc.)

Seems like we may be conflating two issues. Companies going through what many people have called the greatest recession since the depression had to cut employees as demand fell off greatly. Companies that recognized that quickly, were able to lessen the damage to their company and probably deserved to be rewarded.

A second issue is executive compensation. Here I think boards of directors often do not do their fiduciary responsibility to the owners of the company and over-reward execs. Since most shares are held by mutual funds and not individuals the boards are free to do what they wish.

It would be great to see the SEC do more dur diligence in this area. It would also be good to have creative attorneys go after BOD that do a poor job.

Ummm . . . where's the part about these companies being "run into the ground"?

They shouldn't be but its not the government's proper role to have any say in the matter

No it's Algebra 101 you can't divide by zero. One of my more advanced texts said it was "absurd."

Who made you Serge Lang:mrgreen:

And people wonder why I loathe and detest republican business zealots.

yeah vader, dems have no business interests. not a single CEO has ever given a penny to the dems. Those wall street barons gave only to the GOP

God do you realize how idiotic your rants sound? You ought to spend some time checking out who gave money to the dems in the last election

So poor people are stupid, gotcha.
