Prop C passes overwhelmingly

Remember all the Dems that were cackling that the Republican party was about to go extinct just a couple years ago ??

The extinction shoe might be on the other foot soon.

That extinction talk never ends. People talked about the end of the Democratic Party in 1994. Neither party is going away. There are cycles. Were one of the parties actually any good, it might threaten the other party into non-existance, but as both parties are corrupt cesspools, that isn't going to happen.

none of us has ever seen a party fall so far so fast

it all starts at the top, naturally

true, but it will come back different

very large elements of THIS particular party in power ARE indeed dead for a long, long time...

This bodes well for November.
I hope the administration goes against the will of the people on this too.

The Pete Stark Omnipotent Federal Government just might be seeing the first wave of a second American revolution.

Thanks Obi. We couldn't have done it without you.

Wow, I'm impressed. Missouri just voted away their right to have health insurance cover pre-existing conditions and children and they gave the insurance companies the right to charge whatever they want. Kewl.

Better buy your insurance while you're young and don't let those expensive premiums lapse if you live in Missouri because it doesn't look you'll be able to afford it when you get older, if you can get it all.

For instance, it is lawful for a Missouri health insurance policy to contain a provision that permanently excludes coverage for conditions you had prior to the beginning of your policy, which are called pre-existing conditions.....

Apparently, the only people objecting to Prop C in Missouri were the hospitals....

Proposition C faced little organized opposition, although the Missouri Hospital Association mounted a mailer campaign opposing the ballot issue in the last couple of weeks. The hospital association, which spent more than $300,000 in the losing effort, said that without the new federal law, those who don't have insurance will cause health care providers and other taxpayers to have higher costs.
Prop C passes overwhelmingly

Hope you enjoy paying for other peoples health care, Missouri. Insurance companies must be laughing all the way to the bank on that one.

nonsense, the measure addressed only the mandate and, here, federal law trumps the pissed off expression of the show me's

ie, the overwhelming passage of c by a plurality of FORTY TWO is mere protest

and the PROTEST is its meaning

worry

exactly backwards, the mandate CONSCRIPTS all americans to go out and buy ON THEIR OWN that extremely expensive product sold by those huge PRIVATE megacorps

have you seen thomas barthold's letter to john ensign?

No but basically the only states that do count are like five states or seven states, California, Texas, Florida, New York, Illinois, and maybe Pennsylvania, Michigan. They carry the burden of supporting the remaining states and their populations.

I'm pretty sure most of our corn and wheat comes from the Midwest, and our corn and wheat supports the livestock industry nationwide. So basically all our 'essential' food supply leads back to the Midwest. Crops from other states tend to be luxuries. Tomatoes, avocadoes, beans, eggplants, and all that stuff are nice, but we would have to reform our diets to be vegan before the Midwest started becoming redundant. Even then, it would still be important because it is well-suited to growing grains.

That's almost as ridiculous as "death panels". Besides, what would putting people to jail for not buying health insurance solve, if they can get free health care in jail? lol

"... There are exceptions. Certain people with religious objections would not have to get health insurance. Nor would American Indians, illegal immigrants, or people in prison.".....

sure, there are exceptions

and then there is the rule

as stated by chief of staff to the joint committee on taxation

If the republicans gain the majority in the house they will spend all of their time investigating democrats and maybe trying another impeachment.

Some republicans are already talking about shutting down the government.

I am sure that osama bin laden is very happy about the whole ****ing deal.

Maybe he should be impeached. He has spit on his oath in taking office, **** all over the Constitution, Ignored the people, and Broken the law.

Proper thing to do when a virus takes over? Reboot.

I am sure he is....You know what they say, if you can't do great things, then victory come in infamy as well.

I do not need to offer a rebuttal, big trucker. Your words are my rebuttal.

link, please?

I saw it on fox last night. It was Eddie Cantor of Virginia. Also Newt Gingrich. The oinly way to stop Obama when they take the house is by cutting funding and stopping the government. It's been tried before by them but they backed down under clinton.

History always repeats its self. The republicans have offered no solutions except cut spending and taxes which got us into this ****ing mess in the first place. Its kind of like the old myth about "starving a cold".

Remember, you heard it here first by Liberal Avenger, ace political reporter.

If you think health care costs are just fine the way they are you're either very ignorant or you haven't had to shell out big bucks because your so called good insurance refused to pay the lion's share. Maybe you're in denial and don't believe you'll ever have heath care issues because you're young or something?

There was a lot of bamboosling by the right and special interests that gave out false information that probably influenced many of these people that aren't smart enough to do their own homework.

I say let the rest of the states reform health care and let Missouri do it's own thing. They'll come around eventually when they realize they were misled.

BTW ask California how good these do called proposition votes worked out for them. Some pretty stupid **** has been passed via propositions that put the state in serious hock.

Except Ace, you in your haste to throw out another talking point you got it wrong. The Repubs have indeed offered many things in a great many bills, only to be either shut out of the process, or their ideas ignored, then treated like they were never offered in the first place.

We see that.

I'm sorry J-Mac that is a bald faced lie and it's amazing you are accusing someone else of using a 'talking point." There were numerous republican ideas including hundreds of amendments adopted during the committee process. Just some of the ideas adopted were:

Personal responsibility incentives: Allows health insurance premium to vary based on participation in proven employer wellness programs
o (Sources: H.R. 3468, “Promoting Health and Preventing Chronic Disease through Prevention and Wellness Programs for Employees, Communities, and Individuals Act” (Castle bill); H.R. 4038, “Common Sense Health Care Reform & Accountability Act” (Republican Substitute bill); H.R. 3400, “Empowering Patients First Act” (Republican Study Committee bill); H.R. 3970, “Medical Rights & Reform Act” (Kirk bill), "Coverage, Prevention and Reform Act")
* Advances medical liability reform through grants to States: Provides grants to States to jump-start and evaluate promising medical liability reform ideas to put patient safety first, prevent medical errors, and reduce liability premiums.
o (Sources: S. 1783, “Ten Steps to Transform Health Care in America Act” (Enzi bill); H.R. 3400, “Empowering Patients First Act” (Republican Study Committee bill); H.R. 4529, “Roadmap for America’s Future Act” (Ryan bill); S. 1099, “Patients’ Choice Act” (Burr-Coburn, Ryan-Nunes bill))
* Extends dependent coverage to age 26: Gives young adults new options.
o (Sources: H.R. 4038, “Common Sense Health Care Reform & Accountability Act” (Republican Substitute bill); H.R. 3970, “Medical Rights & Reform Act” (Kirk bill))
* Allows automatic enrollment by employers in health insurance: Allows employee to opt-out.
o (Sources: House Republican Substitute; H.R. 3400, “Empowering Patients First Act” (Republican Study Committee bill); “Coverage, Prevention, and Reform Act” )
* Mechanisms to improve quality.
o (Sources: H.R. 4529, “Roadmap for America’s Future Act;” S. 1099, “Patients’ Choice Act;” H.R. 3400, Republican Study Group bill; S. 1783, “Ten Steps to Transform Health Care in America Act” (Enzi bill))

* Community Mental Health Centers. The President’s Proposal ensures that individuals have access to comprehensive mental health services in the community setting, but strengthens standards for facilities that seek reimbursement as community mental health centers by ensuring these facilities are providing appropriate care and not taking advantage of Medicare patients or the taxpayers.

thanks for the link, it's refreshing

i don't think mr's erickson and morris speak for rep's cantor, ryan and pence, for senators kyl and coburn and cornyn

eric cantor vowed to "defund every bit of the regulatory process"

that's not shut down, that's govt in action

if president pie-in-the-face vetoes appropriations, who's playing roadblock?

You know Prof I could remove you from my ignore list to see what you said, but it would be waste of time, and I'm sure it's along the same lines as the nonsense J-Mac posts. I think I'll just keep you on the ignore mode.

current leadership has offered nothing but the rotten recipe of print, borrow, tax and spend

it's not working
