AP-5pm-House investigators accused veteran New York Rep. Charles Rangel of 13 violations of congressional ethics standards on Thursday, throwing a cloud over his four-decade political career and raising worries for fellow Democrats about the fall elections.

The allegations — which include failure to report rental income from vacation property in the Dominican Republic and more than $600,000 in other income on his congressional financial disclosure statements — came as lawyers for Rangel and the House ethics committee worked on a plea deal.

Why am I, a democrat, starting a thread on a democrat with ethics problems? Because I hate corruption. It does not matter who it is, if you break the law, and abuse your office, you deserve to be punished.
 
Rofl did you see the video on John Stewart where this reporter from MSNBC asked Rangel if he would lose his job?

MSNBC Reporter: Are you going to lose your job?

Rangel: What? What station are you from?

MSNBC Reporter: I'm from MSBNC

Rangel: Well you're young I guess you have to make a name for yourself. But that's a stupid question I'm not going to answer that.

Is good that that self-righteous **** flushes his entire career as a lousy politician, on ethics violations. I wouldn't be surpirsed if there's much more we don't know about. But Charlie get's to be this years poster octogenarian explaining why Congress has an 11% approval rating.

Until we allll put aside our leanings and demand accountability from both sides of the aisle, we deserve egzakly what we get. Good for you.

And I hope this does forever cloud his service. He's a crook.

Been reading some critiques of Rangle --- at least one Conservative blog cites Rangel didn't settle because at worst - he'll be getting a harshly worded memo.

A Republican won't be taking over for Rangel, and if he gets a strongly worded memo, that ought to have more people tipping to R candidates come November.

A great T-Shirt would be a mug shot of him with the caption: REMEMBER CHARLIE
