North Korea vows nuclear response to U.S.-Seoul drills

Yes war with China is basically inevitable to happen one day...

It will be a tough one for the U.S. because China is far more advanced than most Americans think. The American media does not propaganda the advances China has militarily.

If America waits too long to conflict it would be worse because China is passing America both economically and militarily and it is imminent that within 20 years China will be FAR more powerful than the U.S.....

There's one problem with your argument.

The USA and China are both nuclear powers. There will perhaps be a second cold war, but there are severe differences between the relationship of USA and China, and the relationship between the USA and the Soviet Union.

The USA and the Soviet Union had very little economic ties. But the USA and China are inexorably linked economically. One cannot survive without the other. I don't see where that changes. But people who think China owns the US now are mistaking for one reason. If you stopped buying China's ****, then their economically would collapse tomorrow and there would probably be a violent revolution.

"SEOUL — North Korea warned Saturday that it will respond with "powerful nuclear deterrence" to joint U.S. and South Korean military exercises poised to begin this weekend, saying the drills amount to a provocation that cannot be ignored."

"On Saturday, North Korea's powerful National Defense Commission — headed by leader Kim Jong Il — backed that threat up by promising a "retaliatory sacred war" against South Korea and the U.S. for what it called a second "unpardonable" provocation after wrongly accusing the North in the Cheonan incident."

"The army and people of the (North) will legitimately counter with their powerful nuclear deterrence the largest-ever nuclear war exercises," the commission said in a statement carried by the country's official Korean Central News Agency."

Just crazy...

Kim may be crazy, but he is absolutely correct. If he starts crap, there could very well be nuclear weapons.........

On him.

As a vassal state, they would most likely seek permission from China to attack the U.S. Do you really think China will say 'Yeah go ahead we got your back!' If they attack us China would most likely back off unless we attempt a reform on NK. They haven't the balls or the firepower to do any amount of damage to us.

They may not be able to reach out and touch us, but if we invaded they could most certainly win a war of attrition.

These aren't the days of Mao anymore. China and NK don't have the warmest relationship, and the only reason why China gives any help to the DPRK is to prevent its collapse and a wave of hungry refugees into China. If North Korea attacked the South, China would be more likely to invade the North than help it. Their relationship with the US is far too valuable to throw away to help that pissant Kim Jong Il.

Okay, so then we'd have a wave of Chinese soldiers attacking on side, and a wave of American soldiers attacking on the other, and millions of starved, terrified North Koreans caught in the middle being told to kill the aggressors.

After the massive casualties that would result on all sides, the Chinese would do everything in their power to force us out.

Not exactly the recipe for success we Americans are used to.

I don't think that China would be willing to go to war with us over North Korea or try to force us out. I think that China would do almost everything they could, short of war to prevent that, but if NK attacks first (which would probably be the only realistic scenario as the South doesn't want the refugees either) Pyongyang will get very little sympathy from Beijing.

Nuh-uh.

I don't want the US anywhere near that mess of a country.

If you think we have it bad in Afghanistan, just think of how bad we'd have it in a nation where we were directly responsible for the toppling of the national cult of personality.

No, thanks.
I agree, but that said the only response the U.S. should consider is a nuclear one, other than that stay out not to mention get our troops out of South Korea.

The suggestion that present-day China would go to war with the United freaking states over crappy North Korea is absolutely hilarious.
Is there not even one surreal situation out there that the conspiracy theorist crowd has not worn out by now?

How could we possibly consider a nuclear response in good conscience?

A nuclear response wouldn't just kill the "bad guys," but also hundreds of thousands if not millions of barbarically repressed citizens.

You're talking about nothing short of unprovoked genocide.

The Chinese view a vast swath of Asia as rightfully belonging to them.

If we invaded, while they wouldn't necessarily declare war on us, you can bet your ass we'd end up butting heads with their military.

I really don't care anymore, North Korea is a belligerent country ruled by a lunatics, let them draw first blood and this would justify the complete annihilation of this pimple on the worlds ass. That said, we should mind our own business and pull out of South Korea. I don't want a war any more than the next guy, so let North Korea draw first blood.

I say let it be known that China can out rightly own North Korea with no objections from the U.S. and then perhaps the Chinese can put a leash on the rabid animal that currently rules that country.

So you don't care that, with the nuclear option, we'd end up slaughtering millions of innocent, starvation-bent civilians whose only crime was being born in the wrong part of the world.

Oh, okay.

Be thankful I am not he president, I would be locked up:)

BTW I keep pushing that big red button that says that's easy and nothing is happening.

Watch out for Japan. If North Korea keeps this **** up, Japan will change their Constitution and start going offensive, including the building of nukes. There's no doubt in my mind that they know how.

Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan all have the technical know-how and could build nukes in a matter of months if any of them decided to do so...

A war split between the United States and China would be so unequivocally, so absurdly destructive for both countries. Both countries would lose, millions would die and almost certainly a third party nation would come out as the new super power. Failing to realize this obvious reality only pays tribute to the embarrassing truth that if you believe such things will happen within the horizon of your grand children's lifetimes then you are a stupid fool and abhorrently ignorant of global and domestic policies. Speaking of such things is the mere fantasy of cracked and brittle patriots looking to soak the tree of liberty with blood. You are a child looking at the chess board curiously amused with the falling and moving of pawns, sadly ignorant of important pieces and strategies lurking behind them.

I think you are absurdly ignorant as to what the long term goals of the autocrats in Beijing are. They are already engaging in it -- and this stage is to cripple the manufacturing capacity of the US and other Western countries by using neo-mercantilist policies. They are wildly successful at this point. If you don't think they want war in the future, you have absolutely no idea what is going on inside China. No idea whatsoever...

That is what it appears like in the English-language press. It is a different matter entirely in the Chinese-language "media".

Can you read Chinese? If you can't, learn. You would be very surprised to see that what is put out there in English is NOT the same as Chinese...

And ignore U.S. treaty obligations? Are you willing to cede all of Northeast Asia to the Chinese?

NK isn't going to do anything. My best guess is the NK news will lie to it's people and say something along the lines "Our threat of Nuclear war scared off the U.S and South Korea, no military drills were performed."

I was just being obnoxious, sarcastic so to speak, although later I posted that I wouldn't have any problem with China putting a leash on NK, but I am just one working stiff with just one vote.

How about we realize embargo's are not working and just aid South Korea in war?
China won't be happy but who cares?

The one positive fallout from wars? WHat is one way to be positive!!! :)

Yeah. That is a way to keep on the sunny side. War does create jobs. :)
