Obama administration sending tax payer money to Kenya for abortion legislation

Ya' know? That's why the Republican Party is sooo hard to take...even by Republicans. They're idiots. What difference does it make? We "pay off" countries alllll the time. Don't know why we're paying off Kenya, but, hey, we've got plenty of money. Why not throw some of it around?

In 2009, we gave Kenya $515 million. Guess we're saving money. Wish I could figure out how to copy this table, but I can't. (Look for the Top 20 Chart.) Look at these other countries and the amount of aid we give them. I'm sure we don't agree with many of their policies either. Seems like it doesn't make a difference.

USAID Budget: Where does USAID's Money Go?

Oh for ****'s sake, conservatives. We can't even give ANY money to countries that perform abortions? We should abandon Kenya in their attempt to ratify a constitution because there's abortion in it?

I like how one of the links describes it as "forced abortions."

We give less than 1% of our federal budget to other countries. Most of what we do give is given to strategic allies such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Israel ect. The percentage of aid to budget for other countries is higher. Germany, Canada, UK, France, Finland, Belgium, Sweden, Netherlands, Norway and Denmark all given larger percentages of their budgets. However, the United States does give MORE total aid, but as far as in a percentage of our national income it is remarkably small and not really worth throwing a fit over.

What percent of US budget goes to foreign aid? « The Least, First

The proposed constitution will curtail the vast powers of the Kenyan president, offering more balance among the different branches of government in an effort to bring order and stability to the political process of a nation often torn by tumultuous exchanges of power.

Of course, as soon as the word abortion appears, nothing else pertaining to this Kenyan referendum matters. The entire story degenerates into "Obama administration sending tax payer money to Kenya for abortion legislation"

I'm pro-life (anti abortion, whatever), but that's not the issue I have here. We have people starving in our country. We are 10's of trillions of dollars in debt and we're giving money to OTHER countries to INFLUENCE THEIR LEGISLATION?! Come on! Sure there's probably other instances, but I can't rely on the media to present those to me if they aren't based on a partisan issue.

I think a worse problem than giving money to Kenya is being addicted to Middle East oil, which is costing us orders of magnitude more money.

The majority or Americans do not want their tax dollars to fund abortions. Maybe we can get it stopped if we cry racism.

Yeah, we should be drilling here.

All things being equal, 99.9999999% of Americans could care less where the oil that fuels their cars originated. The so-called "addiction" to oil from the Middle East is in reality a desire to acquire oil at the lowest possible cost. To claim that our desire to acquire oil at the lowest possible cost is costing us orders of magnitude more money is just ridiculous.

We pay them for the oil. We pay to ship it here. Then we pay counter terrorism costs associated with stopping them from using the money against us. Doesn't sound cheaper.

Moderator's Warning:
So anyway, about the actual story(hint)...

Yeah the American people are tired of being refered to as "The American people" to justify an argument.

Uhm are you suggesting that human beings are less in kenya than they are in the US so we should care less about the slaughter of thier unborn?

No, we're suggesting that this isn't "money used to fund abortions."

No it's used to fund abortion legislation.

It's being used to fund balance-of-power legislation.

Again, fta

America shouldn't support a constitution that establisches balance of power and a more stable democracy, just because it doesn't outlaw abortion?

Also, has anybody taken the time to look at the proposed constitution? It mentions abortion exactly once, and here's what it says

The Proposed Constitution of Kenya in Sec 26(4) reiterates and reaffirms the current Kenyan penal code by stating: Abortion is not permitted unless, in the opinion of a trained health professional, there is need for emergency treatment, or the life or health of the mother is in danger, or if permitted by any other written law.

It's not even legalizing abortion - it's just refusing to ban it via the constitution

But, hey, if fox news has an inflammatory headline, there's got to be something to be angry about right?
