White House apologizes to ousted official

You ofcourse mean that both sides do this today right?

That would explain the phrase "both parties". This is just today's example of it.

What I find distressing about this whole affair is that here is a woman who we should be applauding. She is black, and did not use that as an excuse to not do what she could. She got an education(think about her age and when she as a black woman got that education...worth noting the odds where against her), and then used that education to get into political service. She then made the self-discovery that she too had her issues with racism, and worked to overcome it(almost all of us have some racism in us, but few realize it, and fewer still work to overcome it).

She then went to an organization by and for blacks, and delivers a message that could be received poorly, that blacks can be racist too, and that blacks need to overcome it. That speaks to a real personal courage. We should all be standing together saying, now, that we as a country need more people like her. Instead, she was called a racist and condemned, because some one admitted that they waned to lash out back at some one else entirely, and instead of taking 30 minutes to fact check, rushed to get the (false) story out there. That people believed the story is not a crime, it is normal. We react to the information we are given. And this woman, who has done no wrong, has her life disrupted and is condemned, all because she chose to pass along a positive message we all should appreciate, and because in our rush to win politically we forget about the people in the way.

I guess the NAACP is not of sound mind then.......

NAACP statement on the resignation of Shirley Sherrod

They have changed their tune when they got to see the whole video, not the edited version. When one sees the edited version, one gets a whole different picture.

If anyone want's to believe whom the real struggle in America belongs to today in America, it is me. The middle aged white male, with a HS education.

Ahh, so in the "whole" video, the audience didn't laugh and applaud ???? Yeah, I believe that one..

Love the left's hypocrisy.

They knee-jerked (as did the White House) which was stupid of them. That does not change the fact that those in the video where not applauding racism, no?

Did you watch the whole video, Gill? Is that the impression you got? That they are all racists and applauded racism? Is that your stand?

Well, you can't know that for sure, because you don't know every person at that lecture, or what is in their hearts. So are you saying that you now speak for the NAACP members in attendence 24 years ago? Were you even alive?

You're kidding me, right?

Do you actually think this video was taken 24 years ago? :rofl:rofl:rofl

Man, oh man... you should recuse yourself from this discussion since you're not even barely aware of the facts. :doh

Folks, I find it interesting that the left is screaming bloody murder over this and yet when the liberal media, the NAACP and elected officials do the same exact thing when crying racism from the Tea Party (with no proof or when taking things out of context), they turn a blind eye to it. It's hypocrisy at it's finest, and it's on display for anyone who thinks for themselves to see. Context is important!

Shirley Sherrod said plenty of things in that speech to be concerned about. Yes, she used the story in the initial video that was released as a turning point when seen in the full video. But when you see the full video, she also says several things that are questionable and racist in nature. And now that the Obama administration made a fool of themselves yet again, Sherrod has been offered a different position. If anything that this woman has said or done other than what is in this video comes to light, the Obama administration will have egg on their face yet again. They are stuck with this woman and she could further expose the incompetence from this administration.

As for the conservative hacks in this thread, you are just as bad as the liberal hacks. You too need to take off your rose colored glasses and look at this from every perspective and from every angle. No one is coming out of this smelling like a rose. With the exception of Glenn Beck, who defended this woman from the beginning, no one has been fair or balanced. Even O'Reilly apologized on last night's show, and I applaud him for doing so, just as I applauded the WH for their admission of jumping to a conclusion without all the facts.

I'm just hoping the White House doesn't have to apologize for apologizing.

If this woman were in private business, she would not have been offered her job back. If this woman were white and made the same type comments reversed, she would not have been offered her job back. I think she used poor judgement, in any case. Race (racism) is a hot button that she pressed. Personally, I think she should have known better.

I'm not even sure I understand why the White House apologized. It's my understanding they made calls, but did they say fire her? Or solve this problem?

Breitbart, on the other hand, should completely lose any credibility he had as a journalist. I hope she sues him. If his rights are protected under Free Speech, well, that's just wrong.

It's shoddy journalism to report she was fired and why ?????????

Yes, the right-wing media did take her statement out of context and made her look really bad but ultimately it was the Secretary of Agriculture's call whether he should fire her or not, so you can't blame conservatives for getting her fired. The SoA just acted irresponsibly.

MG won't ever admit she's wrong. You're wasting your time. Anyone that tries to defend Acorn doen't deserve much respect.

I love it how you skirt my legit questions. Or did I waste my time?

I still think that her actions were disgusting as what she said. Sure she 'fixed' it in the end, but in my book she still acted in a disgusting manner. If a white man kicked a black hobo and called him a N-word and then gave him $5 for food that doesn't change his original actions.

I'll bite. What are the plently of things she said that we should be concerned about?

How about her inference that opposition to the HealthCare takeover was race based?

Amazing that you have managed to fester all this hatred for this woman who freely admitted her thinking was was wrong 24 years ago. Heck, even those that she "didn't help," have rushed to her defense and said she was instrumental in saving their farm. But heck, it's better to hate and judge rather than to understand the moral of her story. Makes me shake my head at the sheer idiocy of it all.

Show me the quote.

You know, I haven't seen such a mean-spirited people as I've seen lately over this issue of health care. Some of the racism we thought was buried. Didn't it surface? Now, we endured eight years of the Bush's and we didn't do the stuff these Republicans are doing because you have a black President.
