White House apologizes to ousted official

That's total BS. Making speeches is allowed. Presidents do it every election cycle. Show me where she put actual material support into this. Show me.

OMG!! What part of, "presidents are exempt", don't you understand?

It's not bull****, dude.

If apdst is right about this, then Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr., and Jimmy Carter, are all going to jail. :rofl

You're not even paying attention, are you?

He is listening, he just knows you are making alot of claims without backing any of it up. Quote where presidents are exempt from the Hatch act, and where federal employees cannot participate in any political activity.

No problem. I figgered since you're intelectually superior, you would already know this, or at least go do your own research to prove me wrong.

Hatch Act of 1939 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And she violated which one?

These federal employees may not:

* be candidates for public office in partisan elections
* campaign for or against a candidate or slate of candidates in partisan elections
* make campaign speeches
* collect contributions or sell tickets to political fund raising functions
* distribute campaign material in partisan elections
* organize or manage political rallies or meetings
* hold office in political clubs or parties
* circulate nominating petitions
* work to register voters for one party only
* wear political buttons at work

And she violated which one?

No problem:

These federal and D.C. employees may not:

use official authority or influence to interfere with an election

solicit or discourage political activity of anyone with business before their agency

solicit or receive political contributions (may be done in certain limited situations by federal labor or other employee organizations)
be candidates for public office in partisan elections

engage in political activity while:

on duty

in a government office

wearing an official uniform

using a government vehicle

wear partisan political buttons on duty

At 40:29, she gives a political plug for Obama. Sounds like partisan campaigning to me.

OMG!! What part of, "presidents are exempt", don't you understand?

Actually, it IS bull****.

The Hatch Act specifically says that Federal employees cannot:

* use official authority or influence to interfere with an election
* solicit or discourage political activity of anyone with business before their agency
* solicit or receive political contributions (may be done in certain limited situations by federal labor or other employee organizations)
* be candidates for public office in partisan elections
* engage in political activity while:
o on duty
o in a government office
o wearing an official uniform
o using a government vehicle
* wear partisan political buttons on duty

1) Show me where she interfered with an election.

2) Show me where she engaged in political activity with someone who had business before her agency.

3) Show me where she solicited political contributions.

4) Show me where she was a candidate for public office in a partisan election.

5) Show me where she was on duty while engaging in political activity.

6) Show me where she engaged in political activity in a government office.

7) Show me where she engaged in political activity while wearing an official government uniform.

8) Show me where she engaged in political activity using a government vehicle.

9) Show me where she engaged in political activity while wearing a partisan campaign button.

10) Game over, thanx for playing.

EDIT: Damn, Redress beat me to this total smackdown. LOL.

She did this? You have some evidence?

solicit or discourage political activity of anyone with business before their agency

Nope, didn't do this either.

solicit or receive political contributions (may be done in certain limited situations by federal labor or other employee organizations)

Nope.

be candidates for public office in partisan elections

She is not running for office, so nope.

engage in political activity while:

on duty

in a government office

wearing an official uniform

using a government vehicle

wear partisan political buttons on duty

None of this, so fail.

Edit to reflect yours:

At 40:29, she gives a political plug for Obama. Sounds like partisan campaigning to me.

No campaign in progress at this point, so again, fail.

She showed as and was billed as, state director for the USDA, not as, Shirley Sherrod. Since she was there, using her official title, that made it an official visit.

Further Restricted Employees – Examples of Prohibited Activities

work to register voters for partisan voter registration drives

host a political fundraiser

invite anyone to a political fundraiser

The quote at 40:29

"If there was ever a time to own a home, it is now, and you can thank President Obama for that."

Not campaigning. Time to stop grasping at straws.

You can show that using your title makes it an official visit?

It's not restricted to campaigning as I've pointed out from the goverment's website, where it says, "use an official title or position while engaged in political activity".

The NAACP is a partisan political group. She gave a political plug for Obama while she was there.

She's in violation of the Hatch Act, unless of course, she makes this same speech and presents the same information to groups other than the NAACP.

Look at post #84

That does not prove it was an official visit, and she was giving a speech on race, which is not a political activity. Double fail.

She was giving that speech to a partisan political group.

From the gov's website, again:

These employees are also prohibited from engaging in partisan political management or partisan political campaigns. Specifically, they may not engage in political activity in concert with a candidate for partisan political office, a political party or a partisan political group.

She showed up at a meeting of a partisan political group and was billed by her official title.

Look at the video, where it says, "Shirley Sherrod...State Director USDA Rural developement.

Hot Air » Video: NAACP posts full Sherrod video

And, if she was giving a speech about race and not about rural developement, then she's nothing but a racist, law breaking whore and deserves to go to prison.

El wrongo, O' hanging chad ballot breath. Read my last post. But at least you can blame Clinton now. That should give you a little consolation. LOL.

You lose the argument, so you resort to insults. Impressive.

Aspdt, imagine this scenario. A contractor is hired by the RNC(a political organization) to teach them about how to keep their books(see how I tied it into another political story?). Are they engaged in a political activity? If, in the training, they mention a law and comment "you can thank soandso for this law", are they campaigning for them?

Now, you are wrong because of the info Dan posted, but you would be wrong anyway.

I guess you didn't read the post then, did you? It even had a link in it you could click on.

ATTENTION ALL FAKE ISSUE CREATORS:

To all those who have been alluding to the original Hatch Act, as passed in 1939, it was superseded in 1993 by Public Law 103-94, which implemented certain changes in the original Hatch Act, allowing employees to make statements in support of or in opposition to organizations and other political entities. Feel free to peruse it, at your leisure, then feel free to find some other kind of dirt on Ms. Sherrod.

Note: You may find this law, along with many other laws at the thomas.loc website. And, moreover, this website is free of charge. It slices. It dices. It crunches. It absolutely sends dirt and grime down the drain, before you can say "Jack Robinson", or even "Birther" (notice, only TWO syllables here - Damn, that's fast).

Innocent bystander: Wow, I thought that Communist Nazis were going to take my country straight to hell, with backroom deals with the NAACP. Then I went to thomas.loc, and now I can sleep at night without the boogeyman from talk radio scaring the bejesus out of me.

That's right, folks - Sleep easy tonight. But, if you act NOW, you get a second bonus, the US Constitution. Now you will never have to worry that some communist mole from Kenya has taken over our government. Much better than Valium or Xanax, don't you think?

All this can be yours, for the very very low price of..........

Just reading it.

This has been a public service announcement. Thank you.

NOTE: **** you, Billy Mayes. I am way better.

Like I could care less.
FACT~ her racism was applauded by the NAACP members.
Why no discussion of that?
Because it is a no-brainer even for libs.
It's not defensible, only deflecting provides cover.
See how they run for that cover?
Got your number.;)
