White House apologizes to ousted official

oh, but they did. and it's telling you ignore them.

Ok, provide a documented, reliable source that he said:

“They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?”

sorry, gill.......links have been provided over and over again. i'm not sure about that one....but it doesn't matter. we both know rush pulls those type of statements out of his ass to appeal to his core listeners. he does a great job, he's got a massive audience.

At least you are admitting you were wrong. NO links have been provided that documents the one I posted.

Have you ever listened to him for more than 10 minutes ??? Never mind, I already know the answer.

Thanks for playing though.....:2wave:

Re Limbaugh's alleged racist comments. snopes.com: Rush Limbaugh 'Racist Quotes' List

Of the ten, five have been documented. "Who the hell cares?" is not one of them.

Why does anyone care what Limbaugh says anyway?

Thank you... of the five that were documented, some were said 40 years ago. The others were taken out of context.

Funny how the left forgives Sherrod for racism 24 years ago, yet skewers Limbaugh for comments 40 years ago.

of course i haven't. listening to rush melts your brain cells.

Wow... two posts, two admissions that you don't know what you're talking about.

I'm impressed.

I don't like his bombastic style. But, when I find myself in the car during his broadcast, I'll invariably listen. It's a great place to get the politically controversial news of the day.

It doesn't melt brains unless they're set on autopilot.

Does anyone remember all the enraged posts that the conservatives here did when Rush Limbaugh made comments like these:

“Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?”

“Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.”

“They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?”

“We need segregated buses."

And how they all demanded he resign? And that his statements were reprehensible and how he was a terrible racist?

Yeah, me neither.

2 things...

1-Who the hell listens to Rush Limbaugh and knows what he says...I mean...other than the liberals here... and

2-The second you start pointing out all the leftist race baiting and take unbidden and principled stands against racism whien it is something other than white on black...then you might have some form of credibility. But point blank? I dont see it. Not from you. Not from 90% of the people that identify them as left leaning. And when you DO say something it is either because someone else has guilted you into it so you dont look TOO bad or you couch your comments so they arent REEEEAAALLLYYY condemnations...because there is always an excuse.

Come back when that loud ruckus of hypocrisy isnt hanging over you so badly...until then...its hard to hear a word you are saying.

The only personal apology I've seen is from her boss, who appeared to me to be forthright and sincere. I detected nothing pressured or fake from him.

Wow, amazing... and clueless, apparently.

This whole case is about liberals doing something about someone who (wrongly) was accused of being racists against whites. They DID something, and the woman was (wrongly) fired.

Now, you give me an example of the opposite, and we'll see who is the hypocrite.

So what she said and did originally wasn't racist? Seriously? Maybe she tried to make ammends later and it sounds like she succeded. It does not excuse her original actions.

Let me explain once more my point, and I'll try to use small words.

I was talking about how LIBERALS reacted.

I was pointing out how conservatives like yourself are making a big stink over this, and I pointed out the hypocrisy of these same conservatives never making many threads about racism when it's a white person saying something racist about blacks.

Someone then said basically "Oh yeah, well liberals never take action when blacks say something about whites."

I then pointed out THIS VERY SAME EXAMPLE -- the one we're discussing now -- the one that the conservatives are pulling their hairs out over. This case, where a black person said something bad about a white person -- this one -- (understand yet?) THIS CASE shows that liberals do indeed take action, because action was taken.

That action was proven to be wrong, but it shows that the liberals aren't the ones being hypocrites here.

There, did that help or should I draw pictures?

I guess you better draw pictures. You were once again asserting that what she said wasn't racist. See here:
something about someone who (wrongly) was accused of being racists against whites.
I'd get out my sketch pad, but I'm a ****ty artist, so I'll settle for quotes and bolded words.
My argument was that she WAS acting racist and was NOT wrongly accused. It had nothing to do with hypocracy of liberals or conservatives.
Sorry for the confusion.

Man, did you pick a good sign on name.

I contend that she was wrongly accused of being racist, yes. She in fact spoke out AGAINST racism, in case you can't figure that out. She spoke about racist views she had 24 years ago.

I can just imagine what your church is like:

"Father, I have to confess that 24 years ago I hit my wife. I realized I was wrong, I saw the light, and I have spent the last 24 years asking for forgiveness and preaching to others about my past sin."

"Son, you are NOT forgiven! You should be kicked out of the church, you wife beater! You all heard him, he confessed to being a wife beater! If there is one thing we don't allow here, it's forgiveness for what you did 24 years ago, and whatever sin you did in the past will constantly haunt you and nothing you can do will ever change that!"

I'm athiest, possibly agnostic. So save the assumptions. As if I haven't hear 'the name joke' before (about a bajillion times!). So 24 years later it now means she wasn't wrong then? She was wrong, it doesn't matter that she tried to make ammends. She WAS wrong. I'm not saying she should have been fired today, but I do believe her actions were disgusting at the time. I commend her on overcoming her prejudices, while fully believing she was wrong.

Most folks understand, partisan hacks notwithstanding, that the rightwing propaganda machine is slanted, misleading and outright lies in order to give their sheeple what they want. That's all well and good. It's sells advertising and musters a market base. We can't really expect much more from their followers.

But I do find it sorely disappointing, and downright scary, that our leaders in Washington were gullable enough to fall for their crap. Those people monitor the "red phone" and have their hand next to the "red button." I would expect them to be a bit smarter than the rightwing, spoonfed, sheeple. Appearantly, they are not.

If there is anything positive about this is that they are righting wrongs and making amends. And, it is also a glowing example of how our rightwing media machine lies, slants, spins their propaganda just to satisfy their America hating, disgruntled followers. I expect the RW sheeple to swallow their media spew hook, line and sinker. The get no points for intelligence. Never have. But the people in high office should know better. The common man on the street does (rightwing zealots notwithstanding. They believe anything that pleases their ear.)

Nice sweeping generalization.

I don't get where the "right-wing media" comes into play here. A video was released - it wasn't the full video, but it wasn't anything more than a video, for people to make of it what they would make of it. And the NAACP reacted more quickly and hastily than the "right-wing media" at Fox News apparently were told to:
Bill O'Reilly apologizes to Shirley Sherrod for 'not doing my homework' | Show Tracker | Los Angeles Times
Both Sherrod and the NAACP – which first condemned her remarks, then reversed itself -- put the blame in part on Fox News for hyping the story, a charged the cable news channel rejected.

Michael Clemente, senior vice president of news editorial, said the network’s news programs reported the story with caution. “When I heard about this Monday morning and saw it on Breitbart’s website, I said, ‘OK, could be a story, let’s check it out,’ ” Clemente said. “We did the normal fact-finding we would do on any story.”

At an afternoon editorial meeting Monday, Clemente urged the staff to first get the facts and obtain comment from Sherrod before going on air, according to internal notes from the meeting that were provided to The Times. “Let’s make sure we do this right,” he said.

The story created the hype, not the other way around; nobody is at fault for "hyping" the tape, and if they are, then the hype comes from both the left and the right.

OF COURSE SHE WAS WRONG! EVEN SHE SAID SHE WAS WRONG!

The problem is in calling her a racist NOW for things she said 24 years ago.

I don't recall saying she was a racist now, but I'm not going to go through the thread in double check. If I did, I was wrong.

Nice sweeping generalization.

C'mon man. I was VERY careful to single out the rightwing "zealots and sheep" so as to NOT paint conservatism with one paint brush. Most thinking conservatives know better than to listen to that O'Reilly, Hannity, and Beck spew. BUT, there is no shortage of those who do not.

The sad part is, even after this blatant display of rightwing propaganda tactics, there are some that will still swear by the aforementioned media hacks. They let people piss in their hair and convince them it's raining. But what can ya do? Stupidity is still legal here in the USA. One only has to be of legal age to vote. Intelligence has no bearing on the right to vote. America. Gotta love it!

I agree with that -- a right wing blogger may have started it, but both left and right take the blame for buying it without checking. The media is supposed to be a watchdog, but it's a damned lazy one.
