Billboard linking Obama, Hitler draws complaints - Yahoo! News

"That's just a waste of money, time, resources and it's not going to further our cause," said Shelby Blakely, a leaders of the Tea Party Patriots, a national group. "It's not going to help our cause. It's going to make people think that the tea party is full of a bunch of right-wing fringe people, and that's not true."

Blakely also expressed outrage at linking Obama to Hitler, the leader of Nazi Germany who oversaw the killing of 6 million Jews and whose invasions of neighboring countries led to World War II.

"When you compare Obama to Hitler, that to me does a disservice to the Jews who both survived and died in the Holocaust and to the Germans who lived under Nazi regime rule," Blakely said.

John White, an Iowa coordinator of the Tea Party Patriots, said that he can understand the North Iowa group's perception that Obama is "Hitler-esque," but he thinks the billboard is offensive and unproductive. White said that he planned to discuss the matter with national tea party officials.

Lolz.....

"Obama's got a health care logo that's right out of Adolf Hitler's playbook … Adolf Hitler, like Barack Obama, also ruled by dictate." —Rush Limbaugh, Aug. 6, 2009

Wallace: You also write this on the screen: “The secular socialist machine represents as great a threat to America as Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union once did.” Mr. Speaker, respectfully, isn’t that wildly over the top?

Gingrich: No, not if by America you mean….Just listen to President Obama’s language. He gets to decide who earns how much. He gets to decide when it’s too much.

Wallace: We’re not talking about any company. We’re talking about companies that the government has put billions of dollars in…

Gingrich: No, no..he has said publicly and generically. Some Americans earn too much. So now he’s going to decide that?

Dear Tea Partiers,

The message did not get lost, this is exactly the message you wanted to push out. Think of it as a political Freudian slip. It is the same comparison which has been made for months at your rallies by your leaders, protesters etc. This was a calculated attack. Why not just admit it? Don't fool yourselves. The evidence speaks for itself. All you have to do is come to DP and see how many Tea Party supporters we can count Godwinizing every Obama thread.

I don't like Obama . . . but I love his humor when it comes to things like this.
"I saw a picture of myself with a Hitler mustache. That's change, not quite the change any of us were wanting, though . . . "
He can quite his day job if he likes and become a successful comedian.

I'm surely going to read his memoirs after his presidency comes to an end - I think it would be fascinating.

Well Hitler was racist, and so is Obama, so if the shoe fits......

hitler had a name, and so do you, so if the shoe fits......

Obama has shown favoritism towards black and dislike for white people in the past. Glenn Beck found an excellent clip from one of his cooks where he bad talked "white ceos". So i'm not offended by this sign at all

I think this is disgusting and dispicable. I don't know how widespread these feelings are amongst Tea Partiers, but the linking of anything to Hitler can't be done lightly and as much as I dislike President Obama, this is way over the top. Unfortunately, extremists of all political stripes around the world use extreme rhetoric and comparisons. I was just as disgusted when the Chinese KMT here used images of Hitler and 9/11 and linked them to then-president Chen Shuibien. Simply dispicable in any democratic/representative context.

Well Hitler was racist, and so is Obama, so if the shoe fits......

But their methods and what they do are completely different. Comparisons of the two in this manner is highly offensive... I don't like Obama, but by no means to I approve of this...

for now.....

for now.....

Relax... there WILL be an election in 2012 and if Obama loses, there will be a new president (just hopefully NOT Palin). There will be no pogroms, no Shoal, no World War III (unless the Chinese start it), no concentration camps.

Please, GET REAL!!!

is obama using whites as a minority scapegoat to pin the problems of america on?
racism does not make one the moral equivalent of Hitler, any more than glen becks obvious dislike of gays, and role in the media makes him the equivalent of Goebbles.

I never saw anybody from the so called 'Liberal Mainstream Media' making constant comparisons between Bush & Hitler. Did you?

The point I was trying to make is that the Tea Party movement is a lot more mainstream than most people would like to admit. Not mainstream in the sense that it is 'accepted' by mainstream America(even though it is by a sizeable percentage of it) but in the sense that it's the new popular sport taken up by prominent figures and leaders within the right wing. On the other hand a few years ago you had a few rallies every few weeks with some teenagers burning Bush efigees every now and then, getting arrested and going home after being released. Tea Parties have Palin, Beck, Limbaugh, Gringrich, Paul - all head honchos in their domains - backing them. I never saw Mike Wallace at an anti-Bush rally. I can't find quotes of Keith Olberman comparing Bush to Hitler or Hillary Clinton saying we're heading towards Nazism.

So a local TEA PARTY Chapter bought a billboard that is over the top.

This means, not a whole lot seeing as the more national level of the Tea Party movement have rejected such tactics.

Iowa (Idiots Out Wandering Around).

There, I said it. It needed to be said.

um......sorry to have to break it to you, but mr beck doesn't exactly play clips in context, and you're likely to pass on bad info by relying on him. glad to help.

have they? okay, i'll take your word for it. and when YOU bitch about isolated instances of bad behavior by dems, we can revisit this thread. fair?

for every 1 picture you can find of a tea party folk using the hitler nonsense. I can find 20 on the left that did it.

Once you've compared someone to Hitler, you've basically admitted you've lost the debate.

On a lighter note, I think this cartoon kind of sums of the idiocy of the comparison:
